Opis:
The article discusses ways for optimization of a standard nozzle cup design to achieve a narrower paint flow. The analysis of a standard nozzle cup shows that distribution of air pressure is critically uneven both along the nozzle axis and in the radial direction. A decrease in pressure is about 45% at the distance of 2 mm from the front surface of the nozzle cup. Air pressure decreases about 40% at the distance of 2 mm from the nozzle axis in the radial direction. Air velocity decreases about 52% at the distance of 4 mm from nozzle surface but then the velocity stabilizes and decreases is about 59% at the distance of 10 mm from the nozzle surface in comparison to its magnitude on the nozzle surface. Six extra holes and a circular rim were added to the standard nozzle cup to obtain paint stream as narrow as possible. Also was modified inner surface of the nuzzle cup. Totally, four different components were analysed. The results show that with increasing the nozzle cone by fifteen or more degrees, the pressure distribution decreases. Most optimal solution has six small holes around the nozzle hole and a small rim covering all holes. In this case, pressure decreases only 3% in the axial direction and 4% in the radial direction at the distance of 2 mmfrom the front surface of the nozzle. Distribution of air velocity is still significant but its magnitude is about 35% ... 45% less than at the standard nozzle cup.

Opis:
The article proposes a new analytical method for the calculation of plates with constant and variable rigidity parameters. This method renders it possible to decrease the weight of the plates working under hydrostatic pressure by using variable thicknesses. Firs, a short overview of existing calculation methods and their results are compared. It is shown that all existing methods depend on boundary conditions. Then is given the theory of the proposed calculation method is described and calculations for plates with constant and variable thickness worked under uniformly loaded forces and hydrostatic pressure are made. The results are compared to the FEM calculations and experimental results obtained by a tensile test machine and special equipment. Calculation results obtained by the proposed analytical method and FEM results are very close. Deviations are not more than 11%. Deviations between theoretical calculations and experimental results depend on loading type and design of the test specimens but maximum values are not more than 17%. The proposed calculation method does not depend on the boundary conditions and can be used for plate calculations. Especially for plates with difficult design and complex loading.

Opis:
A new method for synthesis of cermet composite materials was developed based on aluminothermy. Employing this method a cermet composite material with a high content of AlN crystal phase was synthesized. Fine powders of aluminum and silica glass were mixed and heated in a corundum crucible for 6 hours at 1100°C in air. The X-ray diffraction analysis showed that the composite material thus synthesized contains a high concentration of AlN particles (about 33 vol. %) embedded in an aluminum silicon alloy. A small amount of Al2O3 particles (about 8 vol. %) was also found. The method proposed can also be used for synthesis of aluminum matrix composite materials containing, besides AlN, other ceramic reinforcement phases. The properties of these composite materials can be tailored by choosing an appropriate composition of the initial powder mixture for aluminothermic synthesis.

Opis:
Balancing a bipedal robot movement against external perturbations is considered a challenging and complex topic. This paper discusses how the vibration caused by external disturbance has been tackled by a Linear Quadratic Regulator, which aims to provide optimal control to the system. A simulation was conducted on MATLAB in order to prove the concept. Results have shown that the linear quadratic regulator was successful in stabilizing the system efficiently.

Opis:
The article discusses motion of a healthy knee joint in the sagittal plane and motion of an injured knee joint supported by an active orthosis. A kinematic scheme of a mechanism for the simulation of a knee joint motion is developed and motion of healthy and injured knee joints are modelled in Matlab. Angles between links, which simulate the femur and tibia are controlled by Simulink block of Model predictive control (MPC). The results of simulation have been compared with several samples of real motion of the human knee joint obtained from motion capture systems. On the basis of these analyses and also of the analysis of the forces in human lower limbs created at motion, an active smart orthosis is developed. The orthosis design was optimized to achieve an energy saving system with sufficient anatomy, necessary reliability, easy exploitation and low cost. With the orthosis it is possible to unload the knee joint, and also partially or fully compensate muscle forces required for the bending of the lower limb.
