Opis:
The flow-induced noise mechanism of a 5000 rpm high-speed gear pump is explored. On the basis of the CFD technology and the Lighthill acoustic analogy theory, a numerical model of the flow-induced noise of a high-speed gear pump is constructed, and the effect of oil suction pressure (0.1–0.2 MPa) on the internal flow field and flow-induced noise characteristics of the high-speed gear pump is investigated. To evaluate the accuracy of the numerical simulation, a noise testing platform for high-speed gear pumps was developed. Adding an oil replenishment groove to the high-speed gear pump suppresses its flow-induced noise. The results indicate that the discrete noise at the fundamental frequency and its harmonic frequency is the primary component of the flow-induced noise of the pump and that the oil-trapped area is the principal source of vibration. The overall sound pressure level of flow-induced noise in the inlet and outlet areas decreases with distance from the oil-trapped area, and the sound pressure level in the outlet area is greater than that in the inlet area. The oil replenishment groove may considerably minimize cavitation noise, enhance the oil absorption capacity, and reduce the outer field’s overall sound pressure level by 4–5 dB.

Opis:
The wind tunnel with variable Mach numbers controlled by a single jack is highly desired in the aerospace, automobile and building industry due to its superior controllability and working range. Decreasing the temperature of a test gas is an efficient and economical approach to achieving higher Reynolds numbers that accommodate all working statuses of test subjects, which however, brings new challenges to the wind tunnel design nowadays. This paper proposes a new design concept of a single-jack variable Mach number nozzle based on its particular cryogenic characteristics, as the nozzle is the core structure to achieve variable Mach numbers. The contours of the nozzle under different Reynolds numbers and Mach numbers are modeled and solved by an incomplete elliptic integral, followed by modification with cryogenic characteristics. A 0.3-m cryogenic wind tunnel is utilized as a validation platform for the nozzle design, resulting in designed contours being in line with the measured contours. Moreover, the root means square (RMS) deviations of Mach number 1.3 at the core position are controlled within 0.011 in low and high temperatures, which surpasses the other existing wind tunnels.

Opis:
The safety of explosives is closely related to the stress state of the explosives. Under some stress stimulation, explosives may detonate abnormally. It is of great significance to accurately describe the mechanical response of explosives for the safety evaluation of explosives. The mechanical properties of polymer bonded explosives (PBXs) strongly depend on pressure. In this study, the mechanical behaviour of PBXs under confined conditions was investigated. It was found that the stress-plastic strain response of a PBX under high confining pressures is a combination of the non-linear and linear hardening portions. However, the linear hardening portion has often been neglected in characterizing the mechanical behaviour of a PBX under such pressures. The Karagozian and Case (K&C) model was applied to characterize the mechanical behaviour of PBXs. The numerical results demonstrated that when the confining pressure was high, the K&C model could not adequately match the experimental data due to the limitation of the damage model. Therefore, a new damage model was developed by means of considering intragranular damage and transgranular damage. This modification made it possible to introduce a linear hardening process into the original K&C model. The method proposed to describe the stress-strain results under high confining pressures was to consider the stress-plastic strain curve, including the nonlinear and linear hardening portions. The damage evolution of the original K&C model and a linear hardening model were applied for the nonlinear and linear hardening portions respectively. The influence of the linear hardening model on the damage evolution of the original K&C model was included when describing the nonlinear hardening portion. A comparison between simulation and experiment showed that the modified K&C model could well describe the mechanical response of PBXs under different confining pressures.

Opis:
The tensile properties and microstructures of ZL114A alloy component with a complex shape are investigated at room temperature and 200°C, using the tensile tests, scanning electron microscopy and electron backscattering diffraction. Both thin wall and thick structure exhibit excellent properties, of which max ultimate tensile strength and elongation at break reach 314 MPa and 2.5% at room temperature, respectively. The ultimate tensile strengths of thin wall are 40 MPa and 25 MPa greater than those of thick structure at room temperature and 200°C, respectively. Moreover, the eutectic Si phases of thin wall exhibit a predominantly spherical morphology while of the morphology of thick structure are rod-like, resulting in the different mechanical properties between thin wall and thick structure. The fracture morphologies of thin wall and thick structure are studied to explain the difference in performance between thin wall and thick structure.

Opis:
In this paper, sodium oleate, polyacrylamide, soluble starch and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose were used as flocculants to study the flocculation and sedimentation behavior of microfine ilmenite. Sedimentation test shows that sodium oleate and polyacrylamide have good flocculation effect on ultrafine ilmenite. The flocculation rate of ilmenite can be further improved by the combination of sodium oleate and polyacrylamide. It was found that both flocculants could generate chemical adsorption with ilmenite surface, and they all react with $Fe^{3+}$ on ilmenite surface. However, sodium oleate reacts with $Fe^{3+}$ to form a water-insoluble iron oleate precipitate which coats the surface of the ilmenite and hinders the action of polyacrylamide and the remaining $Fe^{3+}$. This problem can be avoided by adding polyacrylamide followed by sodium oleate, and the flotation recovery can be increased significantly.

Opis:
A quaternary ammonium salt, N, N-bis (2-hydroxyethyl)-N-methyl dodecyl ammonium chloride (BHMDC), with high surface activity, was screened and firstly introduced in the reverse flotation of hematite ores based on Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculation and surface tension measurement. The interaction mechanism of BHMDC on the surfaces of quartz and hematite was studied by zeta potential measurement, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), respectively. The results of DFT calculation and surface tension measurement indicated that BHMDC had higher selectivity and hydrophobicity than dodecylamine (DDA). The analyses of zeta potential measurement, FTIR, and XPS demonstrated that the adsorption of BHMDC on hematite and quartz surfaces were mainly dependent on hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction. Due to the more active sites (O atoms), the weaker charge and larger size of polar groups, BHMDC had better simulation results in performance than DDA, especially in selectivity. The flotation tests showed that BHMDC exhibited better flotation performance, which was consistent with the results of DFT calculation. And the efficient separation of hematite and quartz within the wide pH value range (4.0-10.0) was determined, which was also confirmed by zeta potential measurement. It also indicated that BHMDC was an excellent collector in the reverse flotation of hematite ores with great industrial potential, which could obtain the concentrate with the Fe grade of 65.37% and recovery of 88.92%

Opis:
Goldenrod (Solidago canadensis L.) is an invasive plant species in many countries except North America but a cut-flower species worldwide. There is a need to generate and propagate goldenrod clones efficiently for research and commercial purposes. A callus induction and plantlet regeneration system was developed by studying the influence of explant type and different concentrations of plant growth regulators. The highest callus production from leaf segments was obtained on Murashige and Skoog's medium (MS medium) supplemented with 1.0 mg/L naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and 1.0 mg/L 6-benzylaminopurine (BA). Adventitious shoots could be regenerated directly from leaf explants without an intermediate callus phase with the highest shoot induction percentage of 87.2%. The largest number of adventitious shoots per leaf explant (3.2) was obtained on MS medium supplemented with 0.4 mg/L NAA and 2.0 mg/L BA. MS medium supplemented with 0.1 mg/L NAA and 1.0 mg/L BA was the best medium for axillary shoot regeneration from nodal segments. The highest root number and longest roots occurred on half-strength MS without the addition of any growth regulator. Rooted plantlets were then transferred to a soil-based growth medium, placed in a greenhouse, and acclimatized with 100% success. All surviving plants grew normally without showing any morphological variation when compared to those grow from seed. This regeneration protocol may be used to produce certain biotypes of goldenrod suitable for genetic transformation, rapid propagation of goldenrod for commercial purposes or for screening fungi and toxins as potential biocontrol agents against this weed.
