Opis:
This paper provides update on development of the Peltier cooled detectors optimized for wavelengths above 13 μm. Initially, the devices made by Vigo were mostly used for uncooled detection of $CO_{2}$ laser radiation. Over the years the performance and speed of response has been steadily improved. At present the uncooled or Peltier cooled photodetectors can be used for sensitive and fast response detection in the mid-wavelength and long-wavelength infrared spectral range. The devices have found important applications in IR spectrometry, quantum cascade laser based gas analyzers, laser radiation alerters and many other IR systems. Recent efforts were concentrated on the extension of useful spectral range to > 13 μm, as required for its application in Fourier transform IR spectrometers. This was achieved with improved design of the active elements, use of monolithic optical immersion technology, enhanced absorption of radiation, dedicated electronics, series connection of small cells in series, and last but not least, applying more efficient Peltier coolers. Practical devices are based on the complex HgCdTe heterostructures grown on GaAs substrates with metal-organic chemical vapor deposition technique with immersion lens formed by micromachining in the GaAs substrates. The results are very encouraging. The devices cooled with miniature 4 stage Peltier coolers mounted in TO-8 style housings show significant response at wavelength exceeding 16 μm.

Opis:
The paper presents the construction and test results of a long-term radiation detector module for free space optical communication operated at the wavelength range of 8-12 μm. In the module a Polish detector manufactured in the company Vigo System S.A. was applied. High sensitivity of the detection module was achieved through a multi-layered heterostructure HgCdTe with immersion lens, which is optimized for the radiation detection at the wavelength of 10 μm. Detector noises were reduced as a result of detector cooling by means of four-stage thermoelectric cooler. The developed detection module is dedicated to design a next-generation optical data link. The link will be characterized by a greater range in difficult weather conditions in relation to the currently offered links operating at the shorter wavelengths.

Opis:
The aim of the study was to record and analyse selected biometric data based on the results of measurements of Greyster dogs actively involved in sports. The results were compared with the biometric indices of other dog breeds, including the original breeds from which Greysters are derived and Polish native breeds. The study showed that the Greysters are of intermediate height as compared with the original breeds they are derived from, i.e. shorter than Greyhounds and taller than German Shorthaired Pointers. Their height index was less than one, which means that the height at the withers was greater than the diagonal body length in the rectangular shape of the body. The chest girth was greater than the height at the withers, and the ratio of these values, expressed as the massiveness index, is similar to that of the Polish Greyhound. The Greyster eurysomia index (ratio of chest girth to diagonal body length) was also similar to that of the Polish Greyhound. The biometric parameters of Greysters allow them to run fast. This predisposition was also indicated by the leg length index and the proportions of the lengths of sections of the pelvic limb. Further research is necessary to determine all of the biometric characteristics of Greysters. The results obtained at this stage of research can be used as an auxiliary tool in selecting these animals for breeding or sport competitions. Any information with biometric data may be helpful in establishing a breed standard for Greyster dogs and classifying them as an FCI breed.
