    W artykule przedstawiono nowe rozwiązania w zakresie wykorzystania akumulacji energii w systemach transportu szynowego. Na szczególną uwagę zasługują nowe konstrukcje japońskich wagonów silnikowych o napędzie hybrydowym. Pierwsze trzy takie pojazdy zostały wprowadzone do eksploatacji przez East Japan Railway Company 31 lipca 2007.
    Development of the systems utilizing energy storage in railway transportation. Some new solutions in the range of utilizing energy storage in rail transportation systems are presented in this article. A special attention should be paid to the new solutions of Japanese diesel motor wagons with a hybrid drive system. Such first three vehicles were introduced to operation by East Japan Railway Company on 31 My 2007.

    Opis:
    The conditions of use of the vehicle significantly affect the performance results. Traffic conditions in a specific city directly affect the consumption of energy, fuel and emissions of harmful compounds in exhaust fumes. Conduction of the measurements of a vehicle’s performance parameters in operating conditions is very troublesome and is often not possible to realize. An alternative is to use the simulation programs. Vehicle simulation programs offer options related to vehicle models or drive unit components and allow development of new models. Based on the results of simulation testing, it is possible to analyse the level of fuel and energy consumption as well as emissions of harmful compounds in exhaust gases and the operating effectiveness of the drive system in the speed profile. The paper presents the evaluation of the effectiveness of using hybrid electric drive system in passenger cars in medium-sized city traffic conditions using the Kielce example. The simulation tests were based on the speed profiles recorded during real-world test drives in various times of the day. The simulation results were used to conduct an analysis of fuel consumption and pollutant emissions recorded by conventional and hybrid vehicles.
    Warunki użytkowania pojazdu mają znaczący wpływ na parametry eksploatacyjne pojazdu. Warunki ruchu w określonym mieście bezpośrednio wpływają na zużycie energii, paliwa i poziom emisji szkodliwych związków zawartych w spalinach. Przeprowadzenie pomiarów parametrów eksploatacyjnych pojazdu w warunkach rzeczywistych jest kłopotliwe i często niemożliwe do zrealizowania. Alternatywą jest wykorzystanie symulacji komputerowych. Programy do symulacji pojazdów oferują, między innymi, modele pojazdów lub komponentów układu napędowego oraz pozwalają na opracowanie nowych modeli. Na podstawie wyników badań symulacyjnych możliwa jest analiza poziomu zużycia paliwa, energii, emisji szkodliwych związków zawartych w spalinach oraz efektywności pracy układu napędowego w profilu prędkości. W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono ocenę efektywności zastosowania napędów hybrydowych w samochodach osobowych w warunkach ruchu miasta średniej wielkości na przykładzie Kielc. Do badań symulacyjnych wykorzystano profile prędkości, zarejestrowane podczas rzeczywistych przejazdów w różnych porach dnia. Na podstawie wyników symulacji przeprowadzono analizę zużycia paliwa oraz emisji zanieczyszczeń, zarejestrowanych dla pojazd z napędem konwencjonalnym oraz pojazdów z napędem hybrydowym.

    The life cycle cost (LCC) methodology provides understanding of economic aspects of urban buses equipped with different types of propulsion. The LCC analysis delivers the sum of costs related to the acquisition, operation, repair and maintenance disposal as well as the costs for the each bus power train technology. The method allows to take into account all costs for the whole vehicle’s life cycle and creates a precondition for precise information database for decision making. In addition to the economic factors LCC can be extended to environmental aspects such as greenhouse gases emissions. The environmental impacts of the vehicle lifetime may be presented in monetary values. The paper presents the Life Cycle Cost analysis undertaken for urban buses fitted with conventional, series hybrid and parallel hybrid drives. Provided LCC analysis includes the economic and environmental aspects. The paper also delivers the evaluation of the total air pollutant emissions for all stages of lifetime of the each analysed urban bus. The results show that the hybrids have slightly lower life cycle cost than conventional bus. Moreover, hybrid buses were found to have lower life cycle environmental impacts.

    Opis:
    From an economic perspective, the purchase cost of an electric bus is greater than that of a conventional one. This results from the additional components of the bus drivetrain and the costly charging infrastructure. However, it should be noted that electric bus ensures greener and more sustainable public transport. The presented study focuses on the economic and energy efficiency analysis of city buses with different types of driving system evaluated for selected urban and suburban routes. The routes differ in terms of the number of journeys per day, elevation, the daily distance travelled, and the daily operating time. The results demonstrate that driving conditions can affect economic efficiency. The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) method used in the study shows that electric buses represent the highest TCO values among the vehicles taken into account. However, for the TCO calculated for electric and hybrid buses, fuel (energy) costs have a much lower share than for the TCO of conventional buses.

    Passive noise reduction methods require thick and heavy barriers to be effective for low frequencies and those clasical ones are thus not suitable for reduction of low frequency noise generated by devices. Active noise-cancelling casings, where casing walls vibrations are actively controlled, are an interesting alternative that can provide much higher low-frequency noise reduction. Such systems, compared to classical ANC systems, can provide not only local, but also global noise reduction, which is highly expected for most applications. For effective control of casing vibrations a large number of actuators is required. Additionally, a high number of error sensors, usually microphones that measure noise emission from the device, is also required. All actuators have an effect on all error sensors, and the control system must take into account all paths, from each actuator to each error sensor. The Multiple Error FXLMS has very high computational requirements. To reduce it a Switched-Error FXLMS, where only one error signal is used at the given time, have been proposed. This, however, significantly reduces convergence rate. In this paper an algorithm that uses multiple errors at once, but not all, is proposed. The performance of various algorithm variants is compared using simulations with the models obtained from real active-noise cancelling casing.

    Nowadays, noise generated by devices is a serious issue in industry and in everyday life, because it may cause health damage to humans. In this research, a cubic rigid device casing built of double-panel thin steel walls is employed to reduce noise emitted from an enclosed noise source. Double-panel structure is used because of good sound insulation it provides. There exist three main groups of noise reduction methods, i.e. passive, semi-active and active. In this paper, a semi-active modification of double-panel structure is applied and examined. The bistable actuator (solenoid) mounted between incident and radiating plates changes its state due to applied constant voltage, causing the coupling of plates. Experimentally measured natural frequencies and modeshapes of the structure are compared to the simulation results. The influence of proposed modification on dynamical properties of the structure is analyzed and discussed.

    Thin plates, in the form of individual panels or whole device casings, often separate the noise source from its recipients. It would be very desirable if the panels could effectively block the sound transmission preventing noise from further propagation. This is especially challenging to achieve at low frequencies. A promising approach, intensively developed in the recent years, is to employ active control methods by adding sensors and actuators, and running a control algorithm. However, if the noise is narrow-band, an alternative passive solution originally developed by the authors can be applied. It is based on appropriately located passive elements which can be used to alter the frequency response of the vibrating structure thus improving its sound insulation properties. Such an approach is referred to as the frequency response shaping method. The purpose of this paper is to further develop this method and apply it to a device casing panel. The efficiency of the method is evaluated by simulation and real experiments. Appropriate cost functions and mathematical models are formulated and used to optimise the arrangement of passive elements mounted to the plate, enhancing its sound insulation properties at the given frequency range. The results are reported, and advantages and limits of the method are pointed out and discussed.

    The paper presents the concept of using modern Flexiwaggon intermodal transport technology as well as the accompanying infrastructure and transhipment centres to plan transport processes in the TSL industry. The solution, which has not been used in Poland so far, has been proposed as an alternative possibility of transporting goods, currently transported by road, on the Polish section of route E75. The paper focuses on justifying why the use of the above technology is economically, temporarily and ecologically beneficial. Attention was also paid to the possibility of responding to unforeseen situations.

    Standardy leczenia zaburzeń odżywiania są kolejnymi po standardach leczenia schizofrenii i chorób afektywnych standardami przygotowanymi dla psychiatrów polskich. Opracowano je z inicjatywy specjalisty krajowego do spraw psychiatrii - prof. Marka Jaremy, na podstawie najnowszej wiedzy, przeglądu innych standardów wydanych do tej pory na świecie, a także doświadczeń własnych ośrodków zajmujących się tą problematyką. Zostały one opublikowane w „Farmakoterapii w Psychiatrii i Neurologii" w 2007 roku (t. 23, wrzesień, zeszyt 3). Ze względu jednak na fakt, że do tej pory nie istniały polskie standardy postępowania w przypadku zaburzeń odżywiania, i na potrzebę jak najszerszego ich rozpropagowania postanowiliśmy je wydrukować również w „Psychiatrii i Psychologii Klinicznej".

    Primary spontaneous pneumothorax could be a serious therapeutic problem in case of recurrence. Lack of therapeutic standards sometimes leads to delay in definitive surgical treatment and could cause respiratory complications. The aim of the studywas the evaluation of treatment results in patients with recurrence of primary spontaneous pneumothorax and looking for optimal therapeutic method after first recurrence (surgical treatment vs. pleural drainage). Material and methods.Between 01.01.2009 and 31.07.2010 fifty four patients with recurrent primary spontaneous pneumothorax was hospitalized in Wrocław Thoracic Surgery Centre (24.3% of all patients with pneumothorax). The recurrence was treated surgically in 24 cases, in 30 pleural drainage was performed: simple drainage (n=14) or drainage with chemical pleurodesis (n=16). Mean age of patients treated without surgery was higher than surgically treated (p=0,012). Results.In surgery group no recurrence was found, in drainage group 11 recurrences occurred (p=0.0009). In group of 11 patients with second recurrence, pleurodesis was performed four times (36%) vs. 12 times (63%) in 19 patients without a recurrence of the disease. 70% of non-surgically treated patients vs. 50% of surgically treated were afraid of recurrence (p=0.01). Among 11 patients in drainage group, nine underwent surgery at the second episode of recurrence. Conclusions.The optimal treatment method in case of first recurrence of primary spontaneous pneumothorax is surgical treatment. When it is not possible chemical pleurodesis should be performed during pleural drainage. Most of the patients after second recurrence are treated surgically anyway. The surgical treatment significantly reduces patient’s fears for future recurrence of the disease. Younger patients are most often surgically treated.
