Opis:
This paper proposes a general form of the perturbation expansion method for the governing equations of viscous flow coupled to the temperature evolution. The effect of the variations of viscosity and thermal conductivity with temperature on the temperature and velocity fields in a steady two-dimensional Couette–Poiseuille flow is examined. The presented analytical solution by the perturbation method is validated against a finite difference solution of the governing equations. The numerical and analytical solutions are in good agreement.

Opis:
The present study introduces the application of a binary solvent of ethyl acetate and water for the selective separation of 1,3,5-trinitroperhydro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX) and octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX). The effect of temperature and weight percent of ethyl acetate in water on the solubility of RDX and HMX over a temperature range of 273.15 K to 363.15 K and 70.0 wt.% to 100.0 wt.% ethyl acetate in water mixtures were modelled and optimized using a central composite design (CCD) and response surface methodology (RSM) in Minitab (ver. 16) software. Multiple regression analysis and analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that the predicted results were in good agreement with the experimental data. The enthalpies of dissolution and mixing of the materials were determined experimentally from the solubility data. The experimental results showed that the solubility ratio of RDX to HMX can change 6.53- to 16.55-fold, indicating a much lower solubility of HMX in this binary solvent, for a relatively selective separation of RDX and HMX mixtures. Separation experiments under optimized conditions showed that 98.3% of the RDX impurity in HMX was recovered in the first precipitation with an HMX purity of > 99.5% as characterized by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Opis:
The characterization and porous structure of raw and modified clinoptilolite as a sorbent has been investigated by nitrogen adsorption, X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy methods. The nitrogen adsorption data revealed that the total pore volume and specific surface area were increased after modification. The nitrogen adsorption was used to determine percent of mesoporosity. The TG data show that 14 wt. % of clinoptilolite is lost after heating up to 1200 °C. Two types of porosities - primary porosity (microporosity) and secondary one (meso- and macroporosity) have been observed.

Opis:
In the current study, the Laplace equation is solved for rectangular and elliptical computational domains by using the boundary element method (BEM). For this accomplishment, 120 different aspect ratios in a rectangular and elliptical computational domains are designed. The Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions are used respectively for a rectangular and elliptical domains. Also, the Gaussian quadrature integral method is applied to solve the influence coefficient matrix in BEM. To assess a different aspect ratio on the potential solution, two different measurement positions are intended. According to our finding, with an increase of the aspect ratio, the potential value is increased for both rectangular and elliptical domains. However, a potential increment with aspect ratio enhancement is more visible in the elliptical domain.
