Opis:
OmpF plays very important roles in the influx of antibiotics and bacterial survival in the presence of antibiotics. However, high-grade mutant OmpF and its function in decreasing bacterial survival rate have not been reported to date. In the present study, we cloned a high-grade mutant OmpF (mOmpF) and sequence analysis suggested that over 45 percent of the DNA sequence was significantly mutated, leading to dramatic changes in over 55 percent of the amino acid sequence. mOmpF protein was successfully expressed. When grown in the presence of antibiotic, the bacterial survival rate decreased and the antibiotic inhibition zone became larger with the increase of the mOmpF. It was concluded that concentration of high-grade mutant mOmpF dramatically influenced the bacterial survival rate. The study presented here may provide insights into better understanding of the relationships between structure and function of OmpF.

Opis:
In this study, we consider the optimal portfolio selection problem with a value-at-risk constraint in the non-extensive statistical mechanics framework. We propose a portfolio selection model, which is suitable not only for normal return distributions, but also for non-normal return distributions. Using Chinese stock data, under the normal and q-Gaussian return distributions, we provide empirical results. The results indicate that portfolio selections under the q-Gaussian return distributions are considerably different from those under the normal return distributions. Moreover, by using the q-Gaussian distribution, the underestimated portfolio risk can be effectively avoided.

We seek for an oscillating center solution of the wave function satisfying the Schrödinger equation for a nonrelativistic charge particle in an arbitrary external field, where the oscillating center of physical system is a motion governing by a guidance formula of the classical mechanics and at the same time, the physical system obeys the rule of quantum mechanics. In terms of our approach, one enables to know how quantum process may actually come about. The results are applied to analyze the Landau level. We explain successfully that the orbit of oscillator center for the Landau level is circle.

Opis:
Barley stripe mosaic virus (BSMV) is an established and extensively used virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) vector for gene function analysis in monocots. However, the phenotypes generated by targeted gene silencing may be affected or masked by symptoms of BSMV infection. To better understand the potential effects of BSMV-VIGS in hulless barley (Hordeum vulgare var. nudum), the accumulation pattern of BSMV and its impacts on vegetative growth and water status were investigated. The results indicated that the vegetative growth of infected plants was significantly and continuously impacted by BSMV from 10 to 40 days post inoculation (dpi). When the accumulation of BSMV was extremely high (7 to 11 dpi), infected plants displayed twisted leaf tips with an increased water lose rate (WLR) and decreased water content (WC). Virus accumulation declined and stabilized after 25 dpi, at this stage, the WLR and WC were unaffected in the infected plants. The efficiency of VIGS was tested by the silencing of Phytoene desaturase (PDS). RT-qPCR indicated that BSMV-VIGS can be sustained with good efficiency for up to 40 dpi under an altered condition with lower temperature (22 ±1°C) and higher relative humidity (70 ±10%). It was concluded that 25 to 40 dpi was the appropriate time zone for drought-related gene analysis by BSMV-VIGS under such condition.

Opis:
A novel optical image encryption is proposed based on multiplexing of the random phase encoding with shift and rotation operations in domains of two transforms, extended fractional Fourier transform (eFrFT) and Fresnel transform. The original image is subjected to eFrFT with the action of the random phase mask. The mask is shifted and rotated to enhance the security of this encryption method. The image obtained from eFrFT is entered into Fresnel diffraction by the use of the phase mask to obtain the final encrypted image. We plan for the phase keys to be multiplexed in order to decrease the amount of keys that need to be stored in an application. Here, the displacement, rotation angle, and wavelength in this system can be used as additional keys to improve the security and reliability of the encryption system. Numerical experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness and security of the method. The findings demonstrate that the keys are sufficiently sensitive for high security.
