Opis:
The paper presents the results of two butt welded joints by conventional method. The welding process was performed using a variety of linear welding energy. The studies included experimental and computational part. In experimental studies determined the distribution of hardness and mechanical properties of the individual analyzed sections of welded joints. The data obtained were intended to determine the extent of zones in the welded joints that have certain strength characteristics. Also conducted uniaxial tensile tests of welded joints with the registration of displacement fields on the surface of specimens by means of Aramis video-system what the final result are images of strain fields map on the surface of welded joints. The resulting strain values were compared with the results of numerical computations FEM.

Opis:
In the paper are presented the results of strength analysis for the two types of the welded joints made according to conventional and laser technologies of high-strength steel S960QC. The hardness distributions, tensile properties and fracture toughness were determined for the weld material and heat affect zone material for both types of the welded joints. Tests results shown on advantage the laser welded joints in comparison to the convention ones. Tensile properties and fracture toughness in all areas of the laser joints have a higher level than in the conventional one. The heat affect zone of the conventional welded joints is a weakness area, where the tensile properties are lower in comparison to the base material. Verification of the tensile tests, which carried out by using the Aramis video system, confirmed this assumption. The highest level of strains was observed in HAZ material and the destruction process occurred also in HAZ of the conventional welded joint.

The paper presents experimental results of the changes of strength and fracture toughness characteristics of high-strength ferritic steel Hardox-400 in the temperature range from -100 OC to +20 OC. It has been shown that the strength characteristics values increase linearly with lowering the temperature. Changes of fracture toughness characteristics from temperature are more complex and they are dependent on thickness of the tested specimens.

Opis:
Spatial light modulators (SLMs) are versatile devices used for optical studies. These instruments have a wide area of application in photonics. Additionally, SLMs have potential utility in different applications, such as biomedical applications, laser based surgery for precise cutting and as optical tweezers to separate cells in a petri container. However, the high cost of SLM devices prevents their widespread use in many areas, including industrial areas and scientific research laboratories. This paper demonstrates how to design a digital light processor (DLP) based low-cost SLM and describes how to obtain structured electromagnetic waves with the designed SLM. Therefore, this research was undertaken to design and produce a low-cost SLM device for optical applications. For this purpose, two prerequisites had to be fulfilled, the first was to use suitable components of a projection device with DLP-based digital micro-mirror device (DMD), and the second was to eliminate unnecessary SLM components from the system. Finally, holographic images reflected on the SLM screen were created by using Mathematica software program to change the amplitude and phase of the electromagnetic waves in order to obtain the structured electromagnetic waves.
