Opis:
The considerations set out in the article are the reason for the studies on idiolects of extraordinary creative persons of the past ages. The basis for the study is 487 private letters of a Sultan’s painter – Stanisław Chlebowski (1835–1884), sent to the family settled in Krakow, and J.I. Kraszewski, living in Drezno. The aim of the discussion is the analysis of a linguistic layer of correspondence, including especially the lexical part and phraseology, which allow for a reconstruction of the artist-painter self-portrait – his self-assessment of own works, attitude towards art, creative work, signs of everyday life and social contacts of the sender. The examined means of linguistic discourse externalize the internal states of the writer, his emotional and evaluative attitude towards the presented content, especially himself.

The material basis of the paper is an unpublished collection of 47 sonnets by Wincenty Byrski, a poet from Podbeskidzie region. The author of the study discusses the language level of the poems (mainly lexis) in order to reconstruct the picture of Cracow preserved in the texts. The article is based on the assumptions of cultural linguistics and concerns the genre- specificity of a letter. The paper is based on marital and family letters; the author analyses them using pragmalinguistic and cultural linguistic methods. The article focuses on the phrases which copy or replace the gestures people make during face-to-face communication. The analysed expressions inform mainly about kissing, blessing, and the need of physical closeness. They are used to maintain emotional bond between the distanced family members. Relating to other sets of correspondence from the past, the phrases used by the Pawlikowscy are characterized by freshness and originality; they testify to the creativity of the authors, drawing from the morphological and lexical resources of the 19th century Polish language.

Literature and impressionism. The linguistic world of Wincenty Byrski’s poetic imagination The article concerns the poetry (poetic language) of Wincenty Byski. The author presents the affinity of Byrski’s literary work with the ways of impressionist writing. Linguistic analysis consists in identifying lexemes and poetic tropes excerpted from selected poems and poems. The author analyzes the units that relate to the sun (partly also to the moon) and light reflections, colors and their shades.

The paper prepared on the basis of 842 hand-written letters of Zofia Kraszewska to her husband Józef Ignacy, is the author’s next publication of 19th century epistolography.Cosidering the specific features of family letters the author starts from the theory of literaturę, pragmatics and sociolinguistics, which describes variant of language in different social groups.Then he presents some types of derivatives used by Kraszewska to show to the addres- see the situation context of writing, to express her permanent sensitives and temporary affections, as well as to fortify the pragmatic impact of particular letters. They are the equivalent of conversation and should compensate the lack of face-to face contact bet- ween the wife and her lamous husband.

The author of the article analyses set phrases that are motivated by the reality of the handicraft work. The analysis proves that Polish proverbs and set phrases depict work as an activity that is a sufficient and dependable source of income, evaluated on the basis of its effects. They also negatively depict people who perform their duties in a sloppy manner.The analysis aims at reconstructing the linguistic image of the husband and father commemorated in the published family correspondence from the end of the nineteenth century. It is based on 277 letters sent by the writer Adolf Dygasiński, who acted as a tutor at the estates, to his wife Natalia and daughter Zofia who were settled in Warsaw. The article corresponds to H. Markiewicz’s essay devoted to methods of creating figures in literary texts; however it mainly stems from the research on the linguistic image of the world. It focuses on the lexical and phraseological layer of the studied texts, taking into account also the pragmatic aspect of the statements, especially the shape of the terminal forms of the opening and closing the letters which are typical for the structure of the genre. The juxtaposition demonstrates the writer’s fundamental traits which are in accordance with the stereotype of the husband preserved in the Polish language (especially responsibility, care, uncompromising nature) and qualities of the personality assigned according to the social role of the father (the role of the practical guide, adviser and defender). The features which go beyond the linguistic-cultural model of the father (understanding, mildness, protectiveness, parental warmth) should be linked to Dygasiński’s family circumstances. After his wife’s death, Dygasiński surrounded his growing-up daughter with special care, repeatedly declaring his total devotion to her.

This analysis is based on an unpublished collection of 25 sonnets written by Wincenty Byrski one hundred years ago. They are devoted to the Tatra subject matter. The author of the article, applying the methods of cultural linguistics, discusses the descriptions of the mountain nature in the poetic language of W. Byrski. The research is focused on the toponyms, the lexis referring to different rock formations, watercourses, animated nature, atmospheric phenomena and the elements. Simultaneously, the author comments on the solemnly marked lexis, archaisms, regional expressions and comparative structures used by the poet.
