Opis:
The utilization of satellites equipped with robotic arms is one of the existing strategies for Active Debris Removal (ADR). Considering that the time intended for on-orbit capturing manoeuvres is strictly limited, any given space robot should possess a certain level of autonomy. This paper is about the control of on-orbit space robots and the testing of such objects in laboratory conditions. The Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN) possesses a planar air bearing microgravity simulator used for the testing of advanced control algorithms of space robots supported on air bearings. This paper presents recent upgrades to the testing facility. Firstly, the base of the space robot is now equipped with manoeuvre thrusters using compressed nitrogen and therefore allowing for position control of the entire system. Secondly, a signal from an external vision system, referencing the position and orientation of the robot’s parts is used by the control system for the closed loop control.

Opis:
The development of civilization, economic growth, urbanization, industrialization and progress in medicine bring to the society an improvement in the quality of life, but at the same time caused changes in lifestyle, environmental conditions, and changes in the natural environment. All of these led to develop civilization diseases which have critical impact and the adverse effect on our health, about what we not always realize. In the past fifty years, about 30 new pathogens appeared causing diseases such as legionellosis, Lyme disease, and increase unexpectedly tuberculosis incidence which in some regions is associated with HIV infections. Also widespread use of antibiotics caused and still causing bacterial resistance increase to most of them. With the development of medicine and surgery, parallel effects of surgical areas and infections associated with implanted cardiac devices in the majority of the life-saving ones appeared. The development of research techniques allowed for the finding of new relationships between ecosystems in the microbiome of the gastrointestinal tract with of obesity in the society. The presence of new health aspects of civilization diseases impose pressure to create new prevention methods and public education.

Using Lanczos exact diagonalization of finite clusters we demonstrate that the spin-orbital $d^1$ model for triply degenerate $t_{2g}$ orbitals on a triangular lattice provides an example of a spin-orbital liquid ground state. We also show that the spin-orbital liquid involves entangled valence bond states which violate the Goodenough-Kanamori rules, and modify effective spin exchange constants.

We determined the phase diagram of the three-band model for CuO$\text{}_{2}$ planes of high temperature superconductors with an attractive interoxygen interaction U$\text{}_{pp}$. The found magnetic moments of 0.47µ$\text{}_{B}$ in the undoped system, the disappearance of antiferromagnetic order at the doping of δ ≈ 0.06 hole per CuO$\text{}_{2}$ unit, as well as the enhanced tendency to superconductivity with the decreasing value of charge-transfer gap, are in good agreement with the experimental findings.

We show that the quasiparticle states found in a self-consistent Born approximation for the spin-fermion model which describes CuO$\text{}_{2}$ planes agree well with experimental data in insulating Sr$\text{}_{2}$CuO$\text{}_{2}$Cl$\text{}_{2}$. It is found that the antiferromagnetic correlations are reduced in the neighbourhood of a moving oxygen hole and the correlation functions can exhibit similar dipolar distortions as reported in the context of the t-J model.

The motion of a single hole doped to a CuO$\text{}_{2}$ plane of a high temperature superconductor is described by a spin-fermion model which treats explicitly the hybridization with the upper Hubbard band. One finds that sectors of Zhang-Rice bound states coexist with reasonably damped oxygen and copper-like quasiparticles, with a considerable transfer of the spectral weight to the upper Hubbard band. The oxygen states have small dispersions and can be identified in the angle-resolved photoemission experiments for Bi$\text{}_{2}$Sr$\text{}_{2}$CaCu$\text{}_{2}$O$\text{}_{8}$.

Opis:
We review some recent results obtained for the dynamics of a single hole and for the ground states at finite hole doping in t-J model. Next, we address the role of orbital degeneracy in doped Mott-Hubbard insulators and show examples of effective strong coupling models which include the orbital degrees of freedom. These new t-J models have interesting phase diagrams, with the new magnetic phases stabilized by a competition between magnetic energy and excitonic excitations. It is argued that the doped holes always bind to the excitons and that the new phases identified on the mean-field level give rise to local distortions of the lattice. We conclude that realistic t-J models derived from the electronic structure of particular compounds may be successfully applied for understanding both the observed magnetic ground states, and the results of photoemission experiments, as we have demonstrated recently for NiO.

We investigate thermodynamic phase transitions in the compass model and in e_{g} orbital model on an infinite square lattice by variational tensor network renormalization (VTNR) in imaginary time. The onset of nematic order in the quantum compass model is estimated at _{c}/J=0.0606(4). For the e_{g} orbital model one finds: (i) a very accurate estimate of _{c}/J=0.3566± 0.0001 and (ii) the critical exponents in the Ising universality class. Remarkably large difference in frustration results in so distinct values of _{c}, while entanglement influences the quality of _{c} estimation.

We investigate the phase diagrams of the spin-orbital $d^9$ Kugel-Khomskii model for increasing system dimensionality: from the square lattice monolayer, via the bilayer to the cubic lattice. In each case we find strong competition between different types of spin and orbital order, with entangled spin-orbital phases at the crossover from antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic correlations in the intermediate regime of Hund's exchange. These phases have various types of exotic spin order and are stabilized by effective interactions of longer range which follow from enhanced spin-orbital fluctuations. We find that orbital order is in general more robust while spin order melts first under increasing temperature, as observed in several experiments for spin-orbital systems.

We show that the mean-field phase diagram of the realistic spin-orbital model derived for a perovskite lattice in three dimensions consists of four different classical magnetic phases which become degenerate at orbital degeneracy. The quantum fluctuations are drastically enhanced and suppress the classical long-range order, providing a new mechanism to stabilize a quantum spin liquid near the multicritical point.
