    Zjawiska zachodzące we współczesnych miastach, których dynamikę napędza globalizacja, przynoszą wiele negatywnych konsekwencji w odniesieniu do jakości przestrzeni życia człowieka. Obniżanie jakości przestrzeni miejskiej jest szczególnie widoczne w funkcji mieszkaniowej i powoduje obniżanie jakości życia mieszkańców. W pracy podjęto próbę wyznaczenia komponentów jakości przestrzeni miejskiej w odniesieniu do środowiska mieszkaniowego i jakości życia mieszkańców, które mają największe znaczenie w kształtowaniu atrakcyjnego krajobrazu miejsca zamieszkania. Zagadnienia te przedstawiono na tle problematyki współczesnych miast, zjawisk, które w nich zachodzą, oraz ich konsekwencji w jakości zagospodarowania przestrzeni.

    Opis:
    Regeneration of residential areas, with the main goal to improve the quality of space and life for residents, is often very costly and time-consuming. It is important to direct the regeneration process so that the effort and costs yield the expected results both for those responsible for the actions and residents of the relevant areas. The author has worked in a multidisciplinary team handling spatial and social integration of illegal residential districts in Montevideo Department, Uruguay. It was an opportunity to learn about the governmental scheme and the methods it employed. She participated in several projects at different stages and witnessed the results of the effort. Inspired by the effects of the scheme, she attempted to identify activities that were based on similar assumptions in Poland. The pilot scheme by Ewa Kipta, later transformed into the Lublin Regeneration Scheme, was selected because it reached out to residents at an early stage of implementation. An in-depth analysis indicated that the social factor is important for the identification of the condition of the space and the effort to improve it. Residents took part in determining the directions of activities in their districts when detailed designs were being created and implemented. Regardless of the form of dialogue, the effort led to long-term effects the residents evaluated favourably in both cases.

    Opis:
    The article is devoted to gardens that were once the property of parsons – in this article, defined as parsonage gardens. They were part of church garden compounds, however, compared to other forms and projects of sacred greenery, they without a doubt attract much less attention. This translates into the fact that this particular term is not used in the literature of the subject, despite the fact that examples of such forms of green spaces can be found in Poland. In the article, we attempt to present parsonage gardens as having both utility and decorative functions, and representing a high degree of harmonization between man-made greenery and the surrounding natural and cultural landscape. The study analysed the shape and layout of such gardens, and their functional and spatial program against the background of the current status of three selected objects from southern Poland, each in a different state of preservation.
    Artykuł poświęcony jest ogrodom stanowiącym niegdyś własność plebana - w artykule zdefiniowanym jako ogrody plebańskie. Wchodziły one w skład zespołów ogrodów przykościelnych, jednak na tle innych założeń zieleni sakralnej poświęca się im zdecydowanie mniej uwagi. Przekłada się to na fakt, iż sformułowanie to nie jest stosowane w literaturze przedmiotu, mimo tego, że na terenie Polski można znaleźć przykłady tego typu założeń. W artykule podjęto próbę przedstawienia ogrodów plebańskich jako ogrodów użytkowo-ozdobnych, które prezentują wysoki poziom zharmonizowania ukształtowanej przez człowieka zieleni wraz z otaczającym ją krajobrazem naturalno - kulturowym. W badaniach przeanalizowano kształt ogrodów, program funkcjonalno - przestrzenny na tle aktualnej sytuacji trzech wybranych obiektów z południowej Polski, z których każdy zachowany jest w innym stanie.

    The development of urban areas over the last several decades has significantly contributed to climate change. The modern approach to spatial planning and land management responds to the adaptation of cities to changing climate conditions and the need for a liveable environment. The land use of new green spaces and the upgrading of the existing ones should include adaptation to the present and future climate conditions. Cities can adjust to climate change in many different ways. Over the years, the expansion of urban areas has generated a trend towards higher average temperatures than in rural areas, especially in densely populated urban centres with scarce vegetation where temperatures tend to be higher. City growth is detrimental to the natural environment and water circulation. Insufficient vegetation contributes to high air temperature in cities and urban heat islands. In addition, poor water retention and water infrastructure exacerbate urban droughts and floods. Therefore, efforts should be interdisciplinary and multi-faceted to achieve the best results. Adaptation to climate change faces in Poland multiple and diversified barriers. Hence the question: what is happening at the social level? Are residents of cities conscious of the problem, and do they know how to respond to it? What are the barriers concerning climate change? The paper investigates the public awareness of climate change in Poland. The results demonstrate that there is insufficient awareness of climate change in Polish society and a broad remedial measures are needed.
