    The author analyses and interprets the poem Rorate coeli by Andrzej Busza within two main contexts: firstly, the origin and poetic realisation of the Advent motif „rorate coeli desuper”, secondly, the structure of psalm as a literary genre, which has fixed indicators of a prayer, including a poetic prayer (invocation, petition, the subject of request). A significant role in the poem is played not only by performatives (request), but also sentences describing the spiritual status of the lyrical subject, which can be interpreted as the act of complaint directed to God.

    W artykule zaprezentowano biografię Jana Andruszewskiego – lekarza, społecznika i pisarza, oraz jego dorobek literacki, który powstawał w trzech pierwszych dekadach XX w. Był absolwentem Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, doktorem medycyny, pracował w Zakopanem, Lwowie, Kosowie i Smolinie. Wpływ na kształt jego twórczości literackiej miały nowe prądy artystyczne i estetyczne przełomu XIX i XX w. oraz najważniejsze środowiska artystyczne Młodej Polski, z którymi był związany w czasie studiów i pracy zawodowej – Kraków, Zakopane i Lwów. Tworzył głównie małe formy narracyjne (opowiadania, nowele, obrazki), napisał również powieść i był współautorem dwóch dramatów.
    The article presents the biography of Jan Andruszewski – a physician, social activist, and writer – and his literary works, which were created in the first three decades of the 20th century. He was a graduate of the Jagiellonian University, holding a medical degree, and worked in Zakopane, Lviv, Kosów, and Smolino. The shaping of his literary creativity was influenced by new artistic and aesthetic currents at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the most important artistic circles of the Young Poland movement, with which he was associated during his studies and professional career in Kraków, Zakopane, and Lviv. He mainly wrote short narrative forms such as stories, novellas, and sketches, but also wrote a novel and co-authored two plays.

    Editorship and textology of literary works are fields with quite an ambivalent status. On the one hand the range of trends presented in contemporary scientific life seem to lower their prestige (it is enough to mention the requirements for rapid professional advancement or the widely accepted principle of interpretational pluralism). On the other hand fundamental editorial projects are constantly realized, also the popularity of Polish philology studies with this specialty is increasing as well as the market demand for specialists in this field. The latest issue of “Tematy i Konteksty” (“Themes and Contexts”) has been devoted precisely to editorship and textology as well as works documenting Polish literary life in Poland and abroad. The intention of the editors is to initiate reflection on the present state of Polish editorship and the challenges it faces.
