The paper discusses various aspects of the transmission of cults of Anatolian martyrs from Asia Minor to Egypt, based on the evidence of written non-literary sources, mostly inscriptions and papyri. It examines the patterns of selection of saints whose cults were transmitted and studies the character of this process and the possible channels of transmission. Among the discussed sources special attention is paid to the inscribed oil lamps found in the Egyptian chora, which indicate that cults of several Anatolian martyrs might have been transmitted to Egypt even without the existence of institutionalised places of their veneration. This and other facts imply that only a limited number of Anatolian martyrs (Theodore, Thecla, Quiricus, and Euphemia) enjoyed independent sanctuaries of considerable importance, which produced documentary evidence. The spreading of cults of other figures might have been the result of the activity of a single pottery workshop, situated in Upper Egypt.

Introduction/background: This paper’s aim is to contribute to overcoming the limitations of existing policies intended to facilitate innovativeness. This article addresses the need for more tailored and targeted innovation support measures for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help maximize their economic and societal impact. Aim of the paper: Specifically, the aim is to advance methodological frameworks for segmenting or selecting innovative SMEs by providing a conceptual proposition based on the innovation cycle at the firm level. Materials and methods: This objective is achieved by exploring the literature on the innovation cycle concept, and adapting the model developed by Abernathy and Utterback (the A–U model) for the purpose of innovation policy. Particular phases of the innovation cycle are transformed into variables and values, and based on the research regarding the behaviour of SMEs illustrative weights are assigned; this assignment depends on the preferred policy approach: either supporting innovativeness in and of itself or supporting innovativeness and an SME’s standing in the long run. Results and conclusions: As a result, the paper presents a tentative working procedure for assessing enterprises according to operationalized criteria derived from the A–U model. Added to this, collaborative efforts in developing innovations are briefly discussed from the innovation policy perspective. It is believed that the new conceptual proposition outlined in the paper will be instrumental in segmenting companies and selecting innovative projects, and will serve policy-makers and intervention organizations in the implementation phase of the innovation policy process, thus contributing to a more efficient and transparent allocation of support instruments by public institution.

The article constitutes an attempt to initiate research on the attitude of the Toruń community towards the political authorities after the martial law, the basic subject of which is not the opposition but a broad cross-section of society. The aim of the article is to examine the moods and behavior of the personnel of Toruń’s enterprises, with special emphasis on employees not belonging to the political opposition. The files of the archival collection of the Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party in Toruń and selected underground magazines were used for the research. The conclusions reveal the ambiguous and variable, if not radical, attitude of Toruń’s workers to the authorities in the discussed period, and the fact that dissatisfaction was based mainly on the economic grounds.

The aim of the article is to show how the Hussites referred the apostolic pattern to themselves. One of the fields where such an attitude may be observed is the liturgy of the hussite radicals described by Vavřinec z Březove – which at least intended to replicate the Last Supper, and the general conviction about the necessity of communion under both kinds to salvation. Another field is the repeated and fierce discussion over the role of Judas Iscariot and the meaning of being the true apostle. The will to be the new apostles among Christians seduced by evil was so strong among the reformers, that the new generations took over the idea and confronted it with their forerunners.
Celem artykułu jest ukazanie sposobu, w jaki husyci odnosili do siebie wzorzec apostolski. Jest to zauważalne na polu liturgii – husyccy radykałowie, jak podaje Wawrzyniec z Brzezowej, starali się powielać formę znaną z Ostatniej Wieczerzy. Także podzielane powszechnie wśród reformatorów przekonanie o konieczności komunii pod dwiema postaciami do zbawienia wskazuje na tę zależność. Innym polem, gdzie można ją dostrzec, są ostre i zawzięte dyskusje na temat roli Judasza Iskarioty i tego, co oznacza bycie prawdziwym apostołem. Wreszcie pragnienie stania się nowymi apostołami wśród chrześcijan zwiedzionych przez zło okazuje się tak silne wśród reformatorów, że kolejne pokolenia przejmują je i przeciwstawiają swoim poprzednikom.

The article presents Wojciech (Albert) Męciński, S.J., (ca. 1598-1643), a Jesuit martyr and the first Pole to reach Japan through the prism of his vocation to the country. The outlined historical background of Męciński’s travel was supplemented by references to his letters, from which there emerges an image of a man deeply convinced about the necessity of a personal testimony of faith. The stability of Męciński’s decision – twenty years passed from the moment of making it to its re- alization – becomes clear after an analysis of deep religious motiva- tion. Męciński is almost silent about the country which is the objective of the journey of his life, stressing his devotion to Christ. On his way to Christ, he is heading to Japan, and thus combines the love of Christ with his willingness to give up his life in the country he did not know.
Artykuł przedstawia postać Wojciecha Męcińskiego SJ (ca. 1598-1643), jezuity męczennika i pierwszego Polaka, który dotarł do Japonii, przez pryzmat jego powołania do tego kraju. Zarysowane tło historyczne podróży Męcińskiego zostało uzupełnione odniesieniami do jego li- stów, z których wyłania się obraz człowieka do głębi przekonanego o konieczności osobistego świadectwa wiary. Trwałość decyzji Mę- cińskiego – od momentu jej podjęcia do zrealizowania minęło około dwudziestu lat – staje się zrozumiała po analizie głębokiej motywacji religijnej. Męciński niemal milczy o kraju, który jest celem jego życio- wej wędrówki, podkreślając przy tym swoje oddanie dla Chrystusa. Podążając ku Niemu, zmierza do Japonii i tym samym łączy miłość do Chrystusa z wolą oddania życia w kraju, którego nie zna.

The aim of the present paper is to give an overview of the investigation of the phonic articulatory systems of Polish on the basis of the detailed articulatory descriptions existent in phonetic literature and with the use computational tools. First the theoretical foundations of the phonetic grammar are briefly introduced, then the main problem of the choice of an appropriate repertory of phones for Polish is also discussed. The last section is devoted to the presentation of the computional amalysis of the collected data. The created application enables us to collect a given phonetic inventory, taking into consideration the division into particular languages and the database generated here makes further computer analyses possible. Owing to the introduction of numeric interpretation of the articulatory features and dimensions, the phones can be treated as vectors in n-dimensional metric space. Then the measures of distances can be employed as measures of similarity between respective phones. By means of applying the Data Mining algorithms the interdependencies in the set of phones can be automatically shown. The present paper is a first attempt to apply the axiomatic theory of language at the phonetic level to the analysis and synthesis of the phonetic system of Polish.

Currently, one of the trends in the automotive industry is to make vehicles as autonomous as possible. In particular, this concerns the implementation of complex and innovative selfdiagnostic systems for cars. This paper proposes a new diagnostic algorithm that evaluates the performance of the drive shaft bearings of a road vehicle during use. The diagnostic parameter was selected based on vibration measurements and machine learning analysis results. The analyses included the use of more than a dozen time domain features of vibration signal in different frequency ranges. Upper limit values and down limit values of the diagnostic parameter were determined, based on which the vehicle user will receive information about impending wear and total bearing damage. Additionally, statistical verification of the developed model and validation of the results were performed.

Z plantacji buraka cukrowego na terenie województw: kujawsko-pomorskiego, pomorskiego i warmińsko-mazurskiego dostarczono w 2010 roku do IHAR — PIB w Bydgoszczy 11 prób porażonych korzeni buraka cukrowego i gleby celem zbadania występowania grzybów, w tym Rhizoctonia solani. W próbach gleby oceniono zawartość makroskładników pokarmowych, zasolenie i pH. Glebę umieszczono w kuwetach i wysiano w nich nasiona buraka cukrowego. Na porażonych młodych roślinach buraka stwierdzono obecność grzybów z rodzaju: Fusarium, Aphanomyces, Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Verticillium, Cladosporium i Alternaria. Rhizoctonia solani wykryto w glebie pochodzącej z miejscowości Minikowo i Sypniewo (woj. kujawsko-pomorskie) oraz Wandowo (woj. pomorskie). W wymienionych glebach wykazano następujące porażenie siewek buraka przez R. solani: 15,3% (średnio dla odmian buraka cukrowego: Janosik i Jenna) 7,9% (Janosik) i 15,7% (Janosik). Na preparatach z porażoną tkanką buraka obserwowano wielokrotnie jednoczesne występowanie wielu grzybów, wśród których dominowały rodzaje: Aphanomyces, Fusarium, Pythium, Verticillum i Rhizoctonia. Badania nadesłanych prób korzeni i gleby potwierdziły w 3 przypadkach obecność R. solani w glebie i na roślinie.
The IHAR — PIB in Bydgoszcz received in 2010 eleven samples of infected sugar beet roots and soil. The samples were taken from areas of the following provinces: Kujawy-Pomerania, Pomerania and Warmia-Masuria. The main purpose of the tests was to examine the occurrence of Rhizoctonia solani. The content of macronutrients, salinity and pH were evaluated in the samples of the soil. First, the soil was placed on trays and then sugar beet seeds were sown. The occurrence of various fungi genera, including Fusarium, Aphanomyces, Pythium, Rhizoctonia, Verticillium, Cladosporium and Alternaria was noted. R. solani was detected in the soil obtained from Minikowo and Sypniewo areas (Kujawy-Pomerania) and also from Wandowo area (Pomerania). After growth in the mentioned soils the following R. solani infection rates on the sugar beet seedlings were found: 15.3% (on average for Janosik and Jenna sugar beet cultivars), 7.9% (Janosik) and 15.7% (Janosik). Frequent observations and examinations of the microscopic specimen of infected sugar beet tissue showed simultaneous occurrence of many fungi, among which fungi such as genera Aphanomyces, Fusarium, Pythium, Verticillum and Rhizoctonia dominated. The studies of received roots and soils samples confirmed that in three cases R. solani was present in the soil as well as on the plant.

Nowadays, it is not possible to produce food packaging without the use of polygraphic varnishes. Their main task is to protect packaging from the effects of external factors, as well as to give the effect of clarity with greater exposure of the colors used. However, such varnishes contain in their composition low-molecular-weight photoinitiators that can easily migrate to a protected product. The aim of this work was to determine the migration of 4-PBZ from various types of substrates used in the printing industry, i.e. paper, aluminum foil and polyethylene foil. In addition, extensive studies on the impact of the storage conditions of a fresh reprint on the change in the migration of the photoinitiator to food were carried out.

W dotychczasowych badaniach rozważa się celowość wykorzystania na cele prognostyczne danych o niższym stopniu agregacji (np. dla inflacji Hubrich, 2005; Reijer and Vlaar, 2006). W artykule badamy czy prognozowanie 12 subindeksów cen dóbr i usług konsumpcyjnych (komponentów inflacji), a następnie ich agregacja poprawia trafność prognozy inflacji. Prognozy inflacji oraz jej poszczególnych komponentów wyznaczymy przy pomocy modeli autoregresji (AR), średniej ruchomej (MA), wektorowej autoregresji (VAR) oraz autoregresji progowej (TAR). Otrzymane wyniki nie pozwalają jednoznacznie rozstrzygnąć postawionego problemu. Okazuje się, że dla modeli AR i TAR dezagregacja nie pozwala zmniejszyć błędów prognoz, dla modeli MA nie otrzymano jednoznacznych wskazań testów, zaś dla VAR zmniejsza błędy prognoz.
This paper examines whether forecasting CPI components improves CPI forecast. We exploit quarterly data for Poland, disaggregated into 12 components. We follow methodology used in previous studies for Euro Area (Hubrich, 2005; Reijer and Vlaar, 2006). AR, MA, TAR and unrestricted VAR models are estimated using recursive sample and aggregated into CPI. Using out-of-sample forecasts, these models are evaluated and compared to the benchmark -- equivalents for aggregate CPI. The evidence is mixed. VAR component-forecast outperform benchmark. Contrary to VAR, for AR and TAR models we do not find substantial gain from using disaggregated data. Results for MA models are not robust. Moreover, it seems that results for AR- and VAR-based forecasts are comparable to consensus forecast.
