Introduction: Social support is a significant moderator of quality of life. Psychological resilience is a personal resource that promotes adaptation to life challenges.Research Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the association between the level of psychological resilience of mothers of children with diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their perceived formal social support. Formal support is understood as a form of institutional assistance provided to children and mothers as part of using the services of the Early Intervention Center.Method: One hundred and forty-three mothers of children with ASD were surveyed using the Resilience Scale (SPP-25) and the Questionnaire for Mothers of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.Results: Mothers of children with ASD had a higher level of psychological resilience compared to the standardised group. Mothers with higher levels of psychological resilience perceived social support better.Conclusions: The study emphasises the need to develop psychological resilience in mothers of children with ASD, which may contribute to coping more effectively with the challenges of motherhood when faced with a child’s disability.
Wprowadzenie: Wsparcie społeczne okazuje się być znaczącym moderatorem jakości życia matek dzieci ze spektrum zaburzeń autystycznych (ASD). Prężność psychiczna jest zasobem osobowym sprzyjającym adaptacji do wyzwań życiowych, a jej natężenie może różnicować odbiór wsparcia społecznego.Cel badań: Celem badania było ustalenie związku między poziomem prężności psychicznej matek dzieci z diagnozą ASD a spostrzeganym przez nie wsparciem społecznym o charakterze formalnym. Wsparcie formalne rozumiane jest jako forma instytucjonalnej pomocy udzielanej dzieciom i matkom, w ramach korzystania z usług Ośrodka Wczesnej Interwencji.Metoda badań: 143 matki dzieci z ASD zostały poddane badaniom za pomocą Skali Pomiaru Prężności (SPP-25) oraz Kwestionariusza Ankiety dla Matek Dzieci ze Spektrum Autyzmu. Dane pozwoliły na określenie poziomu prężności psychicznej i ocenę spostrzeganego przez badane wsparcia społecznego.Wyniki: Badane matki cechował wyższy poziom prężności psychicznej w stosunku do grupy normalizacyjnej. Matki o wyższym poziomie prężności psychicznej lepiej odbierały wsparcie społeczne.Wnioski: Badanie podkreśla konieczność rozwijania prężności psychicznej u matek dzieci z ASD, co może wpływać na skuteczniejsze radzenie sobie z wyzwaniami macierzyństwa w obliczu niepełnosprawności dziecka.

Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNS) are a group of rarely observed disorders, accompanying about 1% of cancer diseases. They have a typically aggressive course, leading to profound and essentially irreversible disability. The pathogenic cause behind PNS is damage of the nervous system structures as a consequence of the body’s immunological reaction induced by cancer. Onconeural antibodies generated as part of the reaction target the tumour tissues, but also the regular nervous tissue recognized as antigens. Presence of onconeural antibodies reveals a 50–60% sensitivity and 100% specificity in diagnosing PNS. Imaging and laboratory tests have a limited impact on diagnosis. What is crucial is the analysis of clinical systems following Graus’s criteria (elaborated in 2004). In the case presented here, the patient underwent treatment in many neurological departments due to the symptoms of progressive damage of the nervous system. She was eventually diagnosed with the stiff person syndrome related to breast cancer. In spite of the treatment, including an efficacious oncological therapy, the severe neurological deficit resulted in serious motor disability.

Objectives: Wood dust is a known occupational allergen that may induce, in exposed workers, respiratory diseases including asthma and allergic rhinitis. Samba (obeche, Triplochiton scleroxylon) is a tropical tree, which grows in West Africa, therefore, Polish workers are rarely exposed to it. This paper describes a case of occupational asthma caused by samba wood dust. Material and Methods: The patient with suspicion of occupational asthma due to wood dust was examined at the Department of Occupational Diseases and Clinical Toxicology in the Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine. Clinical evaluation included: analysis of occupational history, skin prick tests (SPT) to common and occupational allergens, determination of serum specific IgE to occupational allergens, serial spirometry measurements, metacholine challenge test and specific inhalation challenge test with samba dust. Results: SPT and specific serum IgE assessment revealed sensitization to common and occupational allergens including samba. Spirometry measurements showed mild obstruction. Metacholine challenge test revealed a high level of bronchial hyperactivity. Specific inhalation challenge test was positive and cellular changes in nasal lavage and induced sputum confirmed allergic reaction to samba. Conclusions: IgE mediated allergy to samba wood dust was confirmed. This case report presents the first documented occupational asthma and rhinitis due to samba wood dust in wooden airplanes model maker in Poland.

Cognitive functions, such as learning and memory, are instrumental in improving the patient’s quality of life. Commonly used antipsychotic drugs are also useful in depression treatment, and have a positive effect on spatial memory dysfunction caused by schizophrenia. Olanzapine (OLA) and aripiprazole (ARI) are known to have substantially different pharmacokinetics depending on sex, thus their therapeutic efficacy and dose of treatment may be different for males and females. The aim of the study was to assess whether dysfunction of spatial memory (Morris Water Maze - MWM) and locomotor activity (LA) improve in prenatally stressed rats (animal model of schizophrenia (AMS)) by OLA and ARI. OLA (0.5 mg/kg ip) and ARI (1.5 mg/kg ip) were administered to female Wistar rats (non-stressed control group (NSCG) and PSG). Single administration of ARI and OLA in the NSCG yielded no differences in spatial memory compared to the control group (C-NSCG), while OLA improved memory after 7 days of treatment compared to the C-NSCG. In the prenatally stressed group (PSG), an impairment of spatial memory by the drug was observed (vs. C-NSCG) after long-term treatment. Only chronic administration of ARI and OLA (PSG) improved spatial memory in female rats. Conclusion: Stress causes memory dysfunction in female rats. Chronic administration of ARI and OLA reverses this effect which can probably be associated with the mechanism of action of the drugs used (ARI/OLA). ARI acts as an agonist or antagonist mainly on D2 and 5-HT2A receptors, while OLA induces antagonist effects for these receptors.

The study aimed to examine the influence of providing information about reacting to the heard musical stimuli while treadmill walking on physiological signals of participants. The study group consisted of 30 adults: group 1 was not informed how to react, group 2 received an instruction to adjust the frequency of steps to the music. The gait was carried out on a Zebris FDM-S treadmill for various sound stimuli using the Empatica E4 band to acquire electrodermal activity and heart rate. Information about moving to the stimuli did not change how the subjects responded physiologically during the test.
Celem badania było sprawdzenie, czy informacje o sposobie reagowania na słyszane bodźce muzyczne podczas chodzenia na bieżni istotnie wpływają na sygnały fizjologiczne uczestników. W badaniu uczestniczyło 30 dorosłych: grupa 1 nie została poinformowana o tym, jak reagować na słyszane dźwięki, grupa 2 otrzymała polecenie dostosowania częstotliwości kroków do muzyki. Chód rejestrowano na bieżni Zebris FDM-S, a do akwizycji sygnałów fizjologicznych wykorzystano opaskę Empatica E4. Informacje o tym, jak reagować na bodźce nie zmieniały sygnałów fizjologicznych u badanych.

The chapter presents the key issues related to international marketing. First, the internationalization process is characterized. Then enterprise activities in the range of international marketing are described. Furthermore, the author considers foreign market entry strategies. Particular attention is paid to international marketing mix in the context of standardization and differentiation of its activities. In the summary principles of proper management of international marketing are presented.

Information flows in the logistics and their volume become the starting point for considerations on the Logistics Information System - LIS. In order to select the most important information from the decision-correctness point of view, with the highest merit and in short time, appropriate measures and information techniques should be applied. Only computer techniques can handle with such an enormous amount of data and process them into valuable and useful information. The Logistics Information System is based on the broadly recognised ICT infrastructure, which constitutes the basis for application of further technical solutions. The popular document exchange technique is EDI (Electronic Data Interchange). EDI, as an inter-organizational system, ensures data and information transfer between companies, when pursuing the goals of logistics activity. With this technique, information is collected and transferred almost at every supply chain link.

As a result of economic transformation, dynamic development of entrepreneurship took place. It effected in over 2 million small and medium-sized enterprises, that currently operate. The SME sector (micro, small and medium companies) comprises the vast majority of companies in Poland, namely 99.8%. The smallest entities are obviously the most numerous ones - 96% are micro-companies (1.84 million). The share of small companies in the structure of Polish companies is 3.0% (56.7 thousand), whereas for medium companies it is 0.8% (15.6 thousand), and for large companies it is only 0.2% (3.4 thousand). Condition and development prospects for small and medium companies and other participants of economic life generally depend on macroeconomic conditions. Therefore, the basic condition for long-term development of the small and medium-sized company sector should be recognized as stable macroeconomic policy held by the state, ensuring long-term economic balance, simultaneously leading to gradual reduction of tax and interest rates.
