Opis:
In generalized method of data reconciliation as equations of conditions beside substance and energy balances can be used equations which don't have precisely the status of conservation lows. Empirical coefficients in these equations are traded as unknowns' values. To this kind of equations, in application of the generalized method of data reconciliation in supercritical power unit, can be classified: steam flow capacity of a turbine for a group of stages, adiabatic internal efficiency of group of stages, equations for pressure drop in pipelines and equations for heat transfer in regeneration heat exchangers. Mathematical model of a power unit was developed in the code Thermoflex. Using this model the off-design calculation has been made in several points of loads for the power unit. Using these calculations identification of unknown values and empirical coefficients for generalized method of data reconciliation used in power unit has been made. Additional equations of conditions will be used in the generalized method of data reconciliation which will be used in optimization of measurement placement in redundant measurement system in power unit for new control systems.

Opis:
The paper presents results of the theoretical and numerical investigation on acoustic radiation of vibrating plate structures submerged in water. The current state of the art on the considered issues is briefly reviewed. Then, the method for determining eigenmode shape functions and eigenfrequencies of plate vibrating in water that has been used in presented study is introduced. The constitutive equations for solid domain and the pressure acoustic equation for liquid domain are coupled via boundary conditions and solved numerically using the finite element method. Structural mode shapes and eigenfrequencies computed for plate submerged in water are compared to analogous results obtained for air and for the in vacuo case. It is assumed, that the plate is rectangle shaped and that it is placed in an infinite rigid baffle. Three-dimensional near- and far-field acoustic radiation characteristics for the plate vibrating in water are introduced. Possibilities of implementation of the active control system for reduction of the hydroacoustic emission are briefly discussed.

Opis:
Communication systems which make use of magnetic couplings are systems in which the transformation of signals is conducted through induction elements. These elements transfer and receive energy from the transportation unit. A good example of such a solution is a shaft communication and signal system which sends a transmission signal through ferromagnetic couplers by means of head ropes or balancing ropes. This type of communication has, undoubtedly, some advantages, such as high reliability and uncomplicated exploitation. Yet, there are some limitations related to the employed bandwidth. The article discusses important issues related to shaft communication and presents methods which allow to make maximum use of available transmission channels.

Opis:
The paper describes briefly some main aspects of the active feedback control system that has been developed and constructed for reduction of vibroacoustic emission of vibrating plate structures with arbitrary boundary conditions. Relations between the forms and frequency of the vibrations induced by an external harmonic excitation and the distribution of the generated acoustic pressure field are investigated using the developed numerical model based on indirect variational boundary element method. The aim of the control system is to minimize the sound pressure level in a given point of the ambient space. The system uses small, rectangle-shaped piezoelectric transducers as both sensors and actuators. The transducers are connected in a number of independent feedback loops, and the feedback gains are the control parameters which are optimized using the developed optimal control algorithm. The constructed active system has been tested for the stability and control performance during experimental research performed in an anechoic chamber. Results of experiments are presented in the paper, proving a high level of noise reduction and a good agreement with numerical predictions.

We present the possibility of GaAs:Ge,Te crystals growth from the melt (liquid encapsulated Czochralski method) with partially occupied, at ambient pressure, the A$\text{}_{1}$ localized electronic state of Ge$\text{}_{Ga}$ impurity. In as-grown crystals the amphotericity of Ge and creation of defects (deep acceptor complexes, precipitates etc.) during cooling after growth limit the free electron concentration below the value necessary to populate the A$\text{}_{1}^{0}\text{}^{/}\text{}^{+}$ level. Special annealing of the samples, which enlarges the free electron concentration, was used. The occupation of A$\text{}_{1}^{0}\text{}^{/}\text{}^{+}$ level, at ambient pressure, was observed by pressure dependent Hall effect measurements.

Opis:
The study presents the results of research on the development of composite zones in castings based on the intermetallic phase of Ni3Al. Composite zones were obtained by placing packets with substrates for the reaction of titanium carbide in a foundry mould. To provide a variable carbides content in the composite zone, two compositions of the packets were prepared. The first packet contained only substrates for the reaction of TiC synthesis; the second one also contained a filler. The resulting composite zones in castings were examined for the filler effect on changes in the volume fraction, size and morphology of carbides in the zone. In addition, the effect of filler on the mechanical properties of the zone was verified, observing changes of Vickers hardness in this area. It was found that the presence of filler in the composition of the packet for synthesis reduced the content of carbides, as well as their size and morphology. Lower surface content of carbides reduced hardness of the zone, which enabled smooth control of the mechanical properties. At the same time, the use of the selected filler did not disturb the course of the TiC carbide synthesis.

Protection of infrastructures for e-science, including grid environments and NREN facilities, requires the use of novel techniques for anomaly detection and network monitoring. The aim is to raise situational awareness and provide early warning capabilities. The main operational problem that most network operators face is integrating and processing data from multiple sensors and systems placed at critical points of the infrastructure. From a scientific point of view, there is a need for the efficient analysis of large data volumes and automatic reasoning while minimizing detection errors. In this article, we describe two approaches to Complex Event Processing used for network monitoring and anomaly detection and introduce the ongoing SECOR project (Sensor Data Correlation Engine for Attack Detection and Support of Decision Process), supported by examples and test results. The aim is to develop methodology that allows for the construction of next-generation IDS systems with artificial intelligence, capable of performing signature-less intrusion detection.

Recently, a new class of ceramic foams with porosity levels up to 90% has been developed as a result of the association of the gelcasting process and aeration of the ceramic suspension. This paper presents and discusses original results advertising sound absorbing capabilities of such foams. The authors man- ufactured three types of alumina foams in order to investigate three porosity levels, namely: 72, 88, and 90%. The microstructure of foams was examined and typical dimensions and average sizes of cells (pores) and cell-linking windows were found for each porosity case. Then, the acoustic absorption coefficient was measured in a wide frequency range for several samples of various thickness cut out from the foams. The results were discussed and compared with the acoustic absorption of typical polyurethane foams proving that the alumina foams with high porosity of 88-90% have excellent sound absorbing properties competitive with the quality of sound absorbing PU foams of higher porosity.

Several solid state detectors, such as dosimetric diodes, MOSFET detectors or diamond detectors are used for quality control of radiotherapy beams. The goal of this work was to determine dosimetric properties of the PTW diamond detector (DD) and the PTW silicon diode in the 60 MeV therapeutic beam (practical range in water Rp = 29.17 mm) located at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IFJ PAN, Kraków). A PTW Markus ionization chamber was used as a reference device. The empirical correction factor for diamond detector, kDD(Rresidual), introduced in the Technical Report Series of IAEA, TRS-398 [9] as a function of beam quality, Rresidual, was found to decrease from 1.12 for Rresidual = 1.5 mm to 1.04 for Rresidual = 26 mm. The reproducibility of response of DD and PTW diodes in the proton filed did not exceed 0.11%. Our results show that diamond detectors and dosimetric diodes are useful tools for quality assurance (QA) of therapeutic proton beam, but each type of detectors has specific properties which should be taken into account when choosing particular application.

This paper presents a new method for detection of changes in alignment of the human body, particularly the fall, on the basis of signals acquired from the position sensors placed on the body of the monitored person. The sensors are located on the cuffs, waist and chest. Transformation of data sequence collected from sensors is proposed in order to best distinguish between the collapse from the normal movement. It is based on nonlinear combination of the first two derivatives of the signals being read. Because data from the sensors is sent asynchronously, a numerical algorithm for unevenly sampled data differentiation is proposed. Derivative values are calculated in equidistant nodes through differentiation of a polynomial, which is adjusted by minimizing the mean square error. The developed method can be used in home care telemedicine systems, where it is necessary to long term monitor of multiple vital parameters of people under care.

This paper presents a study on nitrogen conversion in oxy-fuel coal combustion in a pilot scale CFB 0.1 MWth facility. The paper is focused on fuel-N behaviour in the combustion chamber when the combustion process is accomplished under oxy-fuel CFB conditions. The analysis is based on infurnace sampling of flue gas and calculations of the conversion ratios of fuel-nitrogen (fuel-N) to NO, NO2, N2O, NH3 and HCN. For the tests, O2/CO2 mixtures with the oxygen content of 21 vol.% (primary gas) and with the oxygen content varied from 21 to 35 vol.% (secondary gas), were used as the fluidising gas. Measurements were carried out in 4 control points located along the combustion chamber: 0.43 m, 1.45 m, 2.50 m and 4.88 m. Results presented below indicate that an increased oxygen concentration in the higher part of the combustion chamber has strong influence on the behaviour of fuel based nitrogen compounds.

Heracleum Sosnowskyi was discovered in 1772 and described as a separate species in 1944 by I. P. Mandenova. Its name is derived from the surname of a botanist studying Caucasian flora, Prof. D.I. Sosnowski. In the area of the Caucasus foothills, the plant reaches approximately 1-1,5 m in height, whereas in Poland its size is significantly larger, up to 3-3.5 m. Heracleum blooms from mid-June to the end of July. The flowers are arranged in umbels and last for 2-3 weeks. In Central Europe, the species colonizes mostly neglected green areas, ruins and riversides. Heracleum poses a serious threat to the human population due to its photoallergic properties, resulting from the presence of intensely toxic furanocoumarin in its sap. Furanocoumarins are found in small hairs that cover the leaves and stem, and are the components of the essential oil. They may penetrate the skin through the epithelial layer, posing a direct threat to human health. Contact with the plant, followed by sun exposure, may lead to the development of large blisters and symptoms of burns. Heracleum, in the event of consumption, is also harmful to farm animals, causing, among others, internal bleeding and diarrhea. Although the toxic properties of Heracleum have been known for many years, every summer people who had contact with the plant present at physicians of different medical specialties.

Opis:
Extrusion-cooking is used to produce directly expanded gluten-free snacks, especially for consumers with celiac disease. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of various fruits type supplementation as well as the processing screw speed on the physical properties and texture of ready-toeat corn-based gluten-free snacks. Black elderberry, chokeberry and strawberry were dried and used in the amount of 5 to 20% as a corn grit replacement. The directly expanded snacks were processed with a single-screw extruder at various screw speeds (80 and 120 rpm) and tested to measure their expansion ratio, bulk density, colour profile as well as their texture profile. The results showed the various effects of adding different types and amounts of fruit on the physical properties and texture of supplemented gluten-free snacks. A higher amount of fruit resulted in a significant decrease in the expansion ratio and an increase in the bulk density of the snacks. Reduced lightness and a more pronounced red tint were observed when red fruits were added. The desired hardness of the snacks suggested that the addition of fruit should be retained below 15% of the recipe content. The screw speeds applied showed a significant effect on the expansion, bulk density and texture of the tested snacks.
