Manufacturing companies are constantly increasing the level of knowledge and innovation, which may result in full automation of processes in line with the concept of industry 4.0. Increasing the degree of process automation may, on the one hand, limit human presence in the processes, and, on the other hand, change the competences of employees. The literature on the subject describes the processes of implementing innovation and transforming enterprises in the context of the changing role of a man. The article aims to present the effects of the implementation of process automation and the changing role of a man in the enterprise, based on the example of an enterprise using the concepts of industry 4.0. The article is of a practical nature and the results of the research are a source of knowledge aimed mainly at process management.

Safety culture is one of the most important elements of the organization's culture. Its role is particularly important in production plants, where employees are more often exposed to threats related to the working environment. The safety culture is strongly associated with the organizational level of the enterprise, which is largely influenced by the implemented management systems. The article presents the results of the evaluation of work safety culture in production plants with different functioning management systems, including the so-called turquoise organization. A relationship between the organizational level of the plant and the culture of occupational safety was stated.

The publication presents the results of research on the statistically significant impact of the number of layers on vibration damping properties of vibroacoustic mats. The research was carried out on the author's research stand. The research was carried out on sandwich systems made of polyurethane foam. The impact force of the analyzed variables was determined on the basis of constructed multiple regression models, the so-called multifactor models and determination of the standardized value β. The research was carried out using the PQStat software. In the models being built, the significance level was p < 0.05. Three statistically significant linear multivariate models for one-third frequencies were constructed: • 0-20000 Hz - a model for the entire frequency spectrum analysed during the tests, • 0-400 Hz - a model for frequencies generating construction vibrations that may affect the worker as general vibrations, • 50-20000 Hz – a model for frequencies that generate construction vibrations that can cause auditory sensations (noise). It was found: positive correlation of the number of layers in vibration damping systems with a third octave frequency of up to 400 Hz; negative correlation of the number of layers in vibration damping systems with a third octave frequency of 50 to 20000 Hz.

It is the duty of every employer to provide its employees with safe, hygienic and ergonomic working conditions. Available information suggests that working conditions in Poland improve each year, thanks to the ever-growing security culture prevailing in Polish enterprises. In spite of everything, there is still a problem of hazards in the workplace, and special attention should be paid to acoustic threats - vibrations and audible noise. Although entities operating on the market offering comprehensive services to reduce the exposure of employees to vibroacoustic hazards, there is still a need to develop new methods to protect the health of employees. Excessive exposure to vibrations and noise is associated with negative health effects that are exposed to, among others, employees involved in the mechanical processing of steel structures. Employees also experience the impact of local and general vibrations. Local vibrations can be relatively easily eliminated using anti-vibration gloves, while the reduction of general vibrations is often an unresolved problem for employees and employers. The publication presents the results of research on the development of the method of damping mechanical vibrations generated during grinding steel constructions. The research included several stages, among others: selection and preparation of the research material, design and construction of the test stand, measurements of vibration acceleration and industrial verification of the obtained results.

Waste management is a very important issue for the sustainable development of the modern world. The metallurgical industry is an industry that has been generating and still generates large amounts of waste that may have a negative impact on the natural environment and human health. Metallurgical waste comes from current production and is collected in landfills/heaps. Any research enabling the management of waste, including metallurgical waste, is justified. This study presents the results of research on waste that can be used in the production of aggregates – research related to natural radioactivity and the introduction of hazardous substances into water or soil. The study highlights the diversified chemical composition of metallurgical waste, which requires detailed research of the waste before it is directed to the production of aggregates. Aggregate, as a building material, is subject to specific legal (normative) regulations. Metallurgical waste that meets the requirements for the protection of the natural environment and human health should be used for the production of building materials - it is an environmentally friendly activity that implements the principles of sustainable development.

The article reviews the circumstances and methods of implementing management systems as well as the problems associated with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing. Analysis of the positions of researchers on the issue of difficulties in implementing LM, focusing on the problem of cultural differences. The aim of the research undertaken is to discuss the problems related to the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Management systems in relation to cultural differences, national culture, ethnic and organizational work culture and the proposed research methodology of survey data collected in many plants around the world of the same international corporation.

In many cases, old working mills, use machines that are several dozen years old, which are not adapted to the safety requirements. Their use may result in an accident at work. The article presents a case study of the work safety assessment in an old mill. The analysis was carried out with the use of a proprietary checklist, taking into account the current safety requirements. Non-conformities that were identified as the results of the analysis, had an impact on the level of security. The greatest number of non-conformities concerned the fulfillment of technical requirements. Actions aimed at improving work safety were proposed. The prepared checklist is a universal tool for assessing work safety in mills in Poland.
W wielu przypadkach stare, pracujące młyny, wykorzystują kilkudziesięcioletnie maszyny, które nie są dostosowane do wymogów bezpieczeństwa. Ich użytkowanie może skutkować wypadkiem przy pracy. W artykule przedstawiono studium przypadku oceny bezpieczeństwa pracy w starym młynie. Analizę przeprowadzono z wykorzystaniem autorskiej listy kontrolnej, uwzględniającej aktualne wymagania bezpieczeństwa. Niezgodności, które zostały zidentyfikowane w wyniku analizy, miały wpływ na poziom bezpieczeństwa. Najwięcej niezgodności dotyczyło spełnienia wymagań technicznych. Zaproponowano działania mające na celu poprawę bezpieczeństwa pracy. Przygotowana lista kontrolna jest uniwersalnym narzędziem do oceny bezpieczeństwa pracy w młynach w Polsce.

As a result of the Treaty of Versailles the provisions concerning the issue of limitation of the armed forces were imposed on Germany. These provisions were unilaterally terminated by Germany two years after Adolf Hitler had come to power. There was introduced general and compulsory military service. On 21st May 1935, Hitler – as the Fuhrer and Reich Chancellor – signed the secret Reich Defence Law, which gave the Wehrmacht command wide powers to expand the army. Thus, the intensive development of the German army was initiated. After the Nazi Party came to power in Germany, gaining new information by the Polish military intelligence became increasingly difficult. It was connected with the expansion of the German counter-intelligence services, especially the Gestapo, as well as the police supervision over the German society. Through good operational work of the Polish intelligence the Polish side already before the outbreak of the war was relatively well familiarized with the particular phases of the overall German army’s armaments, as well as the German operational doctrine and methods of warfare.
Traktat wersalski narzucał Niemcom m.in. ograniczenia dotyczące liczebności i uzbrojenia niemieckich sił zbrojnych. Niemcy starały się obchodzić je bardzo dyskretnie, w tym również dzięki współpracy ze Związkiem Sowieckim. Sytuacja zmieniła się diametralnie po dojściu do władzy Hitlera, który już w 1935 r. wprowadził ustawę zwiększającą, wbrew traktatowi wersalskiemu, liczebność armii niemieckiej, a także wprowadzającą zakazane rodzaje uzbrojenia. Od tej pory nastąpił jawny i gwałtowny rozwój armii niemieckiej oraz przemysłu zbrojeniowego, co z wielką uwagą obserwował polski wywiad wojskowy. W kolejnych latach powstawały raporty polskich służb wywiadowczych na temat powiększającego się niemieckiego potencjału militarnego i jego możliwości w trakcie zajmowania przez wojska III Rzeszy Austrii, Czech czy Kłajpedy. Niektóre z tych raportów bardzo trafnie przewidywały, jak będzie wyglądała strategia i taktyka Wehrmachtu w zbliżającym się konflikcie zbrojnym.

Underestimating the duration of the production process is one of the basic factors determining the occurrence of delays in the duration of individual operations included in the production process. Occurrence of underestimation of production time brings many negative effects, which include, among others: underestimation of the company's production capacity, accumulation of intermediate stocks, impeded planning of the production process (scheduling of the production process) and increase of production costs. The problem of erroneous estimation of the duration of the production process is most often found in production plants specializing in serial or mass production, implemented in a parallel or series-parallel system. The basic causes that underestimate the duration of the production process include errors in production scheduling, incorrect determination of durations of individual operations carried out as part of the analyzed production process, complexity of production operations and employment structure. The occurrence of delays in the production process can also be affected by accident events that generate underestimation and costs for the enterprise (including social and economic costs). In many cases, many algorithms are used to reduce underestimation and optimization and scheduling of the entire production process. The publication presents an analysis of the production process in which the duration of the production process is underestimated, taking into account the employment structure in the manufacturing company. The analyzes allow to determine the level of underestimation of operations of the production process depending on the form of employment (steel workers – employed under a contract of employment in the production plant, and temporary workers employed by temporary work agencies), identification of the reasons for the underestimation of individual production positions and the length of their time occurrence.

Problems related to work safety have been accompanying humanity since the dawn of time. In times before the Industrial Revolution, human and animal muscle strength was used to work, and "safe work" solutions were developed and introduced individually by the user or supervising the work. Only a change in the way work was done due to the industrial revolution, the introduction of new energy sources, the transformation of manufactories into factories and the birth of the working class brought about greater, concrete changes. It was at that time that various machines and devices began to be introduced into the workplace, which on the one hand improved work and on the other hand created more and more potentially dangerous situations. Security was started holistically and institutionally. With the transformation and return of capitalism, the subject of real work safety returned. Health and safety was to be not only a fashionable slogan, but a value that was supposed to guarantee profit - in accordance with the principle that accidents reduce productivity. It was also connected with the process of adapting Polish law in the field of health and safety to the law of the European Union (EU), which resulted from Poland's pursuit of EU membership. Moreover, an important factor initiating these changes was the interest of enterprises in quality management systems compliant with the ISO 9000 series and environmental management systems compliant with the ISO 14000 series, and related attempts to adapt the system management concept to the area of occupational health and safety, resulting in PN-N standards 18000 series. This publication analyzes the new standard PN-ISO 45001:2018 - "Occupational health and safety management systems - Requirements with guidance for use" comparing it with the standard PN-N 18001:2004 - "Occupational health and safety management. Requirements".

Pojęcie „zmiany organizacyjnej” jest obecnie (2023 r.) bardzo popularnym tematem ze względu na dynamiczne i turbulentne otoczenie społeczno- -gospodarcze. W rozdziale zaprezentowano definicje zmiany organizacyjnej. Dokonano charakterystyki otoczenia z perspektywy pandemii COVID-19 i obecnego kryzysu gospodarczego. Scharakteryzowano miejsce pracownika w turbulentnym otoczeniu i jego rolę we wdrażaniu zmiany. Przedstawiono zjawiska towarzyszące zmianie organizacyjnej. Przeprowadzono badanie dotyczące zmiany organizacyjnej, które skierowano do kadry kierowniczej z kilkunastu branż. Uzyskano 111 odpowiedzi obejmujących: rozumienie pojęcia „zmiany organizacyjnej”, najważniejsze czynniki wewnętrzne i zewnętrzne decydujące o konieczności wprowadzania zmian oraz wpływ pandemii i obecnego kryzysu na wdrażanie zmian i nastawienie pracowników do zmiany w organizacji.
The concept of organizational change is a very popular topic these days (2023) as a response to the dynamic and turbulent socio-economic environment. The chapter presents definitions of organizational change. The environment was characterized from the perspective of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current economic crisis. The place of the employee in the turbulent environment and his role in implementing the change was characterized. Occurring phenomena associated with organizational change were presented. A survey was conducted on the concept of organizational change, which was addressed to executives from more than a dozen industries. 111 responses were obtained regarding the understanding of organizational change, the most important internal and external factors determining the need for change. What impact did the pandemic and the current time of crisis have on the implementation of change and employees’ mindset towards organizational change.

Many people don’t think about blind people’s life. Often this is a topic that is not talked about in public, and visually impaired people are invisible to the public. The game was created to increase awareness and understanding of the difficulties faced by blind people. The author of the game decided to use the senses of hearing and spatial orientation to allow players to experience life without sight. The game is aimed mainly at sighted people and aims to stimulate empathy and awareness of the differences between the everyday life of blind people and our own. Using the advanced level editor, players can create their own levels, which develops their manual skills and allows them to better understand disability. The game uses the Unity 2D engine, and the C# programming language, and the proprietary scripts have been optimized to ensure smooth gameplay. Through this game, the author hopes that players will change their perception of blind people and become more sensitive to their challenges.
Wielu ludzi nie zastanawia się nad życiem osób niewidomych czy niedowidzących. Często jest to temat, o którym nie mówi się publicznie, a ludzie z dysfunkcją wzroku są „niewidoczni” dla społeczeństwa. Aby zwiększyć świadomość i zrozumienie trudności, z jakimi borykają się osoby niewidome, stworzono grę umożliwiającą graczom doświadczenie życia bez wzroku. Gra skierowana jest głównie do osób widzących i ma na celu pobudzenie empatii oraz uświadomienie różnic między codziennym życiem osób niewidomych, a naszym własnym. W grze zastosowano wykorzystanie zmysłów słuchu i orientacji przestrzennej, a za pomocą zaawansowanego edytora poziomów gracze mogą tworzyć własne poziomy, co rozwija ich umiejętności manualne i pozwala lepiej zrozumieć niepełnosprawność.
