    Opis:
    This article is devoted to the official forms in the inflection of chosen toponyms in Poland and the variety of dialectal singular and plural place names. The variety of place names often diverges from the rules of language use, and causes language users problems. The toponyms have peculiar, locally used inflected forms; the outside-linguistic (non-linguistic) factors that are social and local factors, play an important role in the inflection of place names. The local population often uses other forms than those recommended by official sources. I focus my attention on the genitive forms of toponyms because it is mainly here that one can see clear variations in the official and local inflection of place names. The material shows that the singular masculine toponyms have genitive endings: -a (in theofficial variety), -u (in the local variety), for example Biłgoraj, gen. Biłgoraja, but in the local dialect: biłgoraju. The singular feminine place names have genitive endings: -ej (in the official variety), -y||-i (in the local variety): Brzezowa, gen. Brzezowej, but Brzezowy in the local dialect. The plural toponyms have genitive endings: -ø, -ów, -i (-y), but in the local circulation the ending -ów is dominant and demonstrates a wider expansion in use. For example Brzózki, gen. Brzózek, in the local variety Brzuskuf; Budy, official gen. Bud, but Buduf; Burnie, gen. Burni, in the local dialect: Burniuf. The gathered material reflects a hesitation in the inflection of toponyms, as the linguistic customs and presented dialectal records of forms of genitives of place names show a significantly diverse approach towards the Polish language.

    Opis:
    This paper examines the secondary use of the name Maria and its derivative forms in the names of guest accommodations, so-called utility (usage) chrematonyms. It also discusses the creation of this category of chrematonyms derived from personal names, as well as their function. One of the ways in which chrematonyms are created is through the use of female names, both in their full and derivative (diminutive, hypocristic, augmentative) forms. They appear in two forms of inflection: the nominative and the genitive of the singular. The author distinguishes three categories in the analysis of onyms created from the name Maria and its derivatives: 1) names created from the full, official name (certificate) e.g. Maria, Maryla, Maryna; 2) unofficial, derived names (created with suffixes: diminutive and hypocoristic forms, positively valued, usually with suffixes -ka (also with extension -eń-ka), -sia, -’a, e.g. Marylka, Marynka, Marysia, Marysieńka, Marynia, also augmentative forms e.g. Marycha); 3) composite names in the form of prepositional phrases e.g. U Marii, U Marysi, U Marysieńki, U Marychy, U Maryli, U Marylki, U Maryny, U Maryni, U Mani, names with the structure of multi-word expressions, most often connected with the conjunction i e.g. Maria i Helena, U Marysi na Dolinie, U Marysi i Jacka, and combinations consisting of a name with a numerical sign e.g. Maria II, Maria 4, Maria 5. The names of guest accommodations perform various functions. Names of this type of objects are often associated with the owner’s name, and primarily hold a possessive function by identifying the establishment with its owner. Names which were created from the name of a wife, daughter or other close relatives of the chrematonym creator perform a memorial function. Often, chrematonym creators use names rooted in the national culture or historical names, considering them to hold prestige e.g. Marysieńka, Maria Antonina. There is a large group of names which are not related to the owner of the object nor with close female relatives. In general, they are carefully chosen for a specific advertising purpose, creating positive associations for potential guests. In such names, the use of unofficial, derivative forms provides guest accommodations with a homely character. The use of the preposition u, both in the official (U Marii, U Maryli, U Maryny) and the hypocoristic versions (U Marysi, U Marysieńki, U Maryni, U Mani) provides connotations of hospitality and welcoming.

    Opis:
    This article is devoted to variant forms in the inflection of place names in Poland. I focus my attention on genitive forms of the singular masculine toponyms because it is mainly here that one can see clear variations in the inflection of place names. The basis for the research are historical source materials and contemporary records. Polish is an inflectional language characterized by frequent inflected variants. Over the centuries their frequency is periodically reduced, but the use of other variants also increases. However, they are still current in contemporary Polish. This article contains an analysis of gathered material and conclusions referring to repartition of genitive endings. Various criteria determine the choice of proper inflection in the case of toponyms. I chose the formal criterion. The ending of the root word often influences the choice of the genitive ending. The material shows that singular masculine place names (as well as common nouns) have genitive endings: -a and -u. The most alternations in the selection of the genitive ending are noted in the XVI–XVIII centuries. However, the ending -a is dominant, and also demonstrates a wider expansion in use with regards to the distribution of the endings -a, -u. Within the smaller number of criteria regulating the change of singular masculine toponyms, the inflection is quite regular, in comparison to common words. The appropriate declensional paradigm of a toponym influences the structure of a place name. The choice of inflection of a place name is not based on a semantic criterion — toponyms constitute a separate semantic class: place names. The semantic criterion is extremely important in the case of common nouns. In the case of singular masculine toponyms, the choice of the genitive form does not always depend on rules that apply to common nouns, but quite often inflection of common nouns influences the inflection of place names. However, diversity in the genitive form is characteristic of both common nouns and place names.

    The subject of the article is nicknames (nicks) used by YouTubers, i.e. Polish Internet creators who have their own channel on YouTube, and also the methods of their creation. The aim of the article is to analyse the linguistic and semantic aspects of pseudonyms created in the act of Internet autonomy and to indicate their basic functions. Thus, the research is part of the area of media onomastics. The material was collected via a computer network. The conducted research revealed that YouTuber pseudonyms constitute a diverse group of anthroponyms, both in terms of motivation and structure. They are most often created as a result of onimisation and transonymisation of real names and/or surnames, as well as mythological, literary and film heroes, without any formal change, and also as a result of derivation, most often suffixal. Various forms of names prevail, including full names and shortened and hypocoristic names, as well as foreign names or those formed under the influence of foreign names. Less numerous is the group of pseudonymic forms motivated by common words. All of which have the function of identifying and distinguishing the bearer from others.
    Przedmiotem artykułu są pseudonimy internetowe, tzw. nicki używane przez YouTuberów, tj. polskich twórców internetowych prowadzących swój kanał w serwisie YouTube, oraz sposoby ich kreacji. Celem artykułu jest analiza językowa i semantyczna powstających w akcie internetowej autonominacji pseudonimów oraz wskazanie ich podstawowych funkcji. Tym samym badania wpisują się w obszar onomastyki medialnej. Materiał zgromadzono za pośrednictwem sieci komputerowej. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań stwierdzono, że pseudonimy YouTuberów stanowią zróżnicowaną grupę antroponimów tak pod względem motywacyjnym, jak i strukturalnym. Powstają najczęściej w wyniku onimizacji oraz transonimizacji zarówno prawdopodobnie prawdziwych imion i/lub nazwisk, jak i nazw bohaterów mitologicznych, literackich czy filmowych, bez żadnej zmiany formalnej, jak też przez derywację, najczęściej sufiksalną. Dominują różne formy imion, w tym imiona pełne oraz skrócone i hipokorystyczne, a także imiona obce lub powstałe pod wpływem obcych postaci imion. Mniej liczna jest grupa form pseudonimicznych motywowanych przez wyrazy pospolite. Wszystkie spełniają funkcję identyfikowania i wyróżniania nosiciela spośród innych.
