Opis:
Wspólne dodatki substratu Biona®-312 i popiołu lotnego w przedziale 2-10 % do kwaśnej gleby korzystnie wpłynęły na wzrost i rozwój gatunku testowego, zwiększając wielkości parametrów wegetacyjnych o 136-454 %. Polepszenie warunków wegetacji roślin przy zastosowaniu wspólnego 2 % dodatku substratu Biona®-312 i dodatków popiołu (zwłaszcza w ilości 2 % i 5 %) wynikało z podwyższenia pH podłoży (5,57-6,96) w porównaniu do pH samej gleby (3,84).
Soil acidification in Poland is still a significant problem limiting the plant growth during conventional agricultural and energy crop cultivations. Thus, the study aimed at determining the influence of increasing the dose of fly ash (deacidification agent), in the presence of Biona®-312 ion exchange substrate (nutrient carrier) on plant growth on the chosen acidic soil (pHKCl = 3.84). In order to achieve the study aim, the pot experiment with orchard grass (Dactylis glomerata L.) as the test species was carried out. Seven series of media were prepared for experiment purposes i.e.: soil alone, soil + 2 % addition of Biona®-312, soil + 2 % addition of ash, soil + 5 % addition of ash, soil + 2 % addition of Biona®-312 + 2 % addition of ash, soil + 2 % addition of Biona®-312 + 5 % addition of ash and soil + 2 % addition of Biona®-312 + 10 % addition of ash. The experiment was carried out in a phytotron at the photoperiod of 13/11 hours (day/night). The obtained study results showed that separate additions of Biona®-312 ion exchange substrate and fly ash at the level of 2 % to acidic soil did not cause a statistically significant increase in biomass of orchard grass. The common addition of Biona®-312 substrate and fly ash in the range of 2-10 % to acidic soil favorably influenced the plant growth, increasing the values of vegetative parameters by 136-454 %. Improving the vegetative conditions for plants by application of common 2 % Biona®-312 addition and ash additions (especially 2 and 5 % doses) resulted from an increase in the pH of media (5.57-6.96) as compared to the pH of soil alone (3.84). Because of the beneficial effect of applied fly ash doses, it was stated that the ash addition to the level of 10 % could be considered as an agent for deacidification of agricultural soils or degraded grounds. It is possible provided that the current legal restrictions on the use of different types of ashes will be no longer applicable, while ensuring that the limits of toxic substances (e.g. heavy metals) will not be exceeded in soils.

The paper presents the taxonomical position and the description of the characteristic features of Macrosciadium alatum (=Ligusticum alatum). The species was recorded in the Western Bieszczady Mts (the northern part of the Carpathians) in July 2007 and is new to the flora of Europe. Its natural range comprises mainly the Caucasus region and the origin of M. alatum in south-east Poland is quite puzzling. The species has most likely been deliberatelly brought into the area. M. alatum spreads quite intensively. It penetrates semi-natural vegetation systems and seems to be expansive.

Opis:
Dionysia involucrata Zaprjag. (Primulaceae) is known as critically endangered endemic species of Hissar Mountains in Tajikistan. It is reported from few localities mainly in Varzob River valley and its tributaries. The species inhabits steep or overhanging faces of granite rocks in narrow river gorges. During the research all known populations of D. involucrata were examined in respect of the habitat conditions and species composition of vegetation plots. We analyzed the population extent of the species in its range in Tajikistan and the main threats in order to assess its conservation status. The detrended correspondence analysis was performed on a matrix of 65 relevés and 49 species (vascular plants and mosses), to classify the phytocoenosis with domination of D. involucrata according to their floristic composition in relation to other petrophytic vegetation units. Using our field data regarding present extent of occurrence and area of occupancy we conclude that the threat category of D. involucrata should be reassessed from critically endangered to endangered. The species shows decline tendency in extent of occurrence, area of occupancy as well as in number of locations. The vegetation plots with domination of D. involucrata have relatively high level of separateness due to different species composition. We define the new association – Dionysietum involucratae – representing chasmophytic vegetation of submontane and montane zone in Middle Asia (ca. 1000–1600 m a.s.l.). The plots of Dionysietum involucratae were found mainly on granite rocks, on very steep or overhanging faces, on southwestern or southern exposition. The association is rather poor in species with inconsiderable contribution of mosses. Despite the diagnostic species, Campanula incanescens, Carex koshewnikowii and Scutellaria hissarica were the most abundant and frequent taxa within the researched patches of vegetation.

Opis:
In this paper we present the first syntaxonomic classification for the thermophilous open wood and scrub vegetation in Tajikistan with some remarks on its environmental gradients. Altogether 143 relevés were sampled between 2014–2021 using the seven-degree cover-abundance scale of Braun-Blanquet. They were classified by the modified TWINSPAN method with the use of the four step interval scale with cutoff levels of 0%, 2%, 5% and 10% and total inertia as a measure of cluster heterogeneity. Diagnostic species were identified using the phi coefficient as a fidelity measure. Detrended Correspondence Analysis was used to determine the relation between samples, vegetation units and the major gradients in species composition. Plant communities have been divided into three main groups: (1) dry scrub on screes, (2) mesophilous scrubs in nemoral zone, and (3) open woods. A new class of Pistacietea khinjuki-verae has been proposed for open woods. Further classification of vegetation data resulted in the distinction of four plant communities within two provisional alliances: Roseion kokanicae and Ranunculo tenuilobi-Cotoneasterion hissaricae (communities of Rosa kokanica and R. ecae, associations of Aveno ludovicianae-Rhuidetum coriariae and Calophacetum grandiflorae). Additionally, we established the Pistacion verae alliance for the pistachio groves of Middle Asia with two subassociations: Pistacietum verae typicum and Pistacietum verae cercidetosum griffithii. The main factors determining the species composition of the studied communities are: elevation, temperature, precipitation, slope and aspect. Our research showed that the Pistacia groves are a distinct vegetation typical of the Irano-Turanian area and that further surveys are needed to present a final classification of scrub vegetation of Tajikistan.

Opis:
The paper presents results of geobotanical and taxonomic studies on the distribution and habitat requirements of Nymphaea candida in southern Poland. The researches were conducted in southern Poland in 2003-2009, in the provinces of Lower Silesia, Lublin, Małopolska, Opole, Silesian province as well as, in southern parts of Mazowieckie and Lubuskie. Flowers, leaves and fruits of Nymphaea species were collected from 27 locations. Altogether pollens from 73 populations of N. candida and 18 of N. alba from all the researched area were measured. The trophic level of an ecosystem was evaluated according to the results of the total nitrogen, total phosphorus, chlorophyll a, transparency and biological parameters. As the result of the studies of more than 200 water bodies, 57 localities of N. candida were documented within the investigation area. The populations of N. candida occupy mid-forest water bodies and river ox-bow lakes. A significant number of populations was also found in artificial reservoirs - fish ponds. The most suitable habitat conditions for N. candida occur in shallow waters in the shore zone with the amplitude of the water column vary from 0.5 to 2 m. Regarding the trophy level, N. candida occupies different habitats, mainly mesotrophic and also eutrophic with high content of organic matters. Considering the 15 checked morphological parameters, especially the stigma diameter, the number of carpellary teeth, flower and pollen diameters, the found and collected specimens of N. candida significantly differ from N. alba. The study confirms that N. candida ocurrs in whole lowland Poland without any regional distribution gaps. According to the IUCN guidelines to species assessment the data gathered during the presented study do not allow to classify N. candida as a vulnerable species in Poland. Still existing populations for more than 150 years, numerous stable locations, abundant populations, a habitat accessibility, a biotope extent, an ecological amplitude against the trophy level and direct human impacts suggest, that the species should be regarded as a least concern (LC) taxon.

This paper discusses the floristic structure, distribution and habitat requirements of a new aquatic syntaxon, Stuckenietum amblyphyllae ass. nova. Patches of the Stuckenietum amblyphyllae association occur in the Pamir Alai Mountains in Middle Asia (Tajikistan). The biotope of this community represent high mountain rivers and ponds at the bottom of glacial river valleys situated at elevations between 1900 and 3800 m. Patches of the Stuckenietum amblyphyllae association are characterised by a clear predominance of the typical species, i.e. Stuckenia amblyphylla, which occupies an aerial extent of between near 40 up to 90% of the surface studied. Patches of the community are poor in species, comprising a maximum of five taxa. Among associated species mainly rush, aquatic, meadow and marsh taxa have been noted. The Stuckenietum amblyphyllae community prefers cold, open, alkaline waters with medium flow-rate, ranging in depth from 15 to 75 cm. It is also, but rarely, found in the mountain ponds. Together with the Stuckenia filiformis community it designates in the Pamir Alai Mountains the upper limit of aquatic vegetation.

The paper presents the first syntaxonomic classification for juniper wood communities in Tajikistan with some remarks on their environmental gradients. A total of 119 relevés were sampled between 2015 and 2021 using the seven-degree Braun-Blanquet cover-abundance scale. They were classified by a modified TWINSPAN method. Diagnostic species were identified using phi coefficient as a fidelity measure. Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA) was used to determine relationships between samples, vegetation units and major gradients in species composition. Plant communities have been divided into two main groups. The first one is a west Irano-Turanian wood of Juniperus polycarpos var. seravschanica of the Pamir-Alai mountane belt. It occurs in two variants depending mainly on the aspect and precipitation. The second juniper wood type in Tajikistan is a stand of Juniperus pseudosabina. It prefers the northern slopes and north-eastern ranges of the Pamir-Alai and slightly lower elevations. Both juniper wood types are highly distinct in terms of species composition, especially in the moss layer, and have therefore been assigned to different classes: Pino-Juniperetea (Juniperetum seravschanicae) and Juniperetea pseudosabinae (Carici turkestanicae-Juniperetum pseudosabinae). The main factors determining the species composition of the studied associations are latitude, growing season precipitation, annual range of air temperature and precipitation of coldest quarter. Our study has shown that there are two very distinct vegetation types of the juniper wood groves in Tajikistan, which reflect the main phytogeographical division between the provinces of Turkestan and Central Asia.
