Opis:
In the current investigation, two primary indicators, including the average roughness (AR) and Brinell hardness (BH) of the roller burnishing operation are enhanced using the optimal inputs (the spindle speed-S, feed rate-f, and depth of penetration-D). The performance measures are developed using the Kriging approach and optimal outcomes are generated by the Crow Search Algorithm (CSA). The optimal outcomes generated by the CSA of the S, f, and D were 832 rpm, 112 mm/min, and 0.12 mm, while the AR was reduced by 37.0% and the BH was increased by 29.9%, respectively. The optimal findings could be utilized in the practice for enhancing the burnished quality and to develop a professional system related to the roller burnishing operation. The Kriging-based AR and BH correlations could be used to present nonlinear experimental data. The optimizing technique could be utilized to deal with optimizing problems for different machining operations.

Opis:
In this investigation, the specific cutting energy (SCE) and average surface roughness (Ra) were decreased using the hard-rotary turning (HRT) factors, including the inclined angle (I), depth of cut (D), feed rate (f), and spindle speed (S). The Bayesian regularized feed-forward neural network was applied to develop the SCE and Ra models. The entropy method and vibration and communication particle swarm optimization (VCPSO) algorithm were employed to compute the weights and determine optimal factors. The optimizing outcomes presented that the optimal I, D, f, and S were 35 deg., 0.45 mm, 0.50 mm/rev., and 1200 rpm, respectively, while the SCE and Ra were decreased by 37.4% and 6.6%, respectively. The total turning cost was saved by 7.5% at the selected solution. The valuable outcomes could be applied to the practical HRT process to decrease performance measures, while the developed HRT operation could be utilized for machining difficult-to-cut materials.

Gas hydrates are the accumulations of methane (natural gas) trapped in ice-like structures with water. Gas hydrates represent an immense energy resource underlying large portions of the world’s marine continental shelves. Vietnam has a large continental shelf area, in the deep water zone with suitable low temperatures and high pressure, which is suitable for the formation and existence of potential energy source of Gas Hydrate (GH). The application of High-Resolution Seismic method (HRS) plays an important role in exploring for Gas Hydrate. The enhancement of HRS research such as optimal short - reception conditions and advanced data processing suitable for Gas Hydrate in shallow layers below the seafloor, allows for determining the geological factors related to Gas Hydrate’s existence in the deep water area. Advancements in data processing technology, such as noise filters (Radon, F-K, SRMA, Tau-P..), seismic attributes analysis, seismic migration, AVO, seismic inversion, pre-stack seismic data and AI technology … allow to identify of the signs of Gas Hydrate presence, such as Bottom Simulated Reflector (BSR), Gas Hydrate Stability Zone (GHSZ), Pockmark, Chimney, etc. This paper presents some of the results obtained from applying High-Resolution Seismic method to predict the distribution of Gas hydrate in the Southeastern offshore of Vietnam.

The median location problem concerns finding locations of one or several new facilities that minimize the overall weighted distances from the existing to the new facilities. We address the problem of locating one new facility with a radius r on networks. Furthermore, the radius r is flexible and the objective function is the conic combination of the traditional 1-median function and the value r. We call this problem an extensive 1-median problem with radius on networks. To solve the problem, we first induce the so-called finite dominating set, that contains all points on the underlying network and radius values which are candidate for the optimal solution of the problem. This helps to develop a combinatorial algorithm that solves the problem on a general network G = (V,E) in O(|E||V|3) time. We also consider the underlying problem with improved algorithm on trees. Based the convexity of the objective function with variable radius, we develop a linear time algorithm to find an extensive 1-median with radius on the underlying tree.

Opis:
This paper explores the association between the maturity of short term debt and real earnings management in the context of an emerging market. We use a panel dataset of listed firms in Vietnam over the period from 2009 to 2017 and employ conventional methods for panel data analysis. Our work contributes by documenting a non-linear relationship between short-term debt maturity and manipulation of earnings. In particular, businesses prefer to refrain from manipulating earnings at low short-term debt maturity levels but are likely to manage them at higher short-term debt maturity levels. Under a battery of robustness evaluations, this result remains unchanged. This means that investors/lenders of firms should be vigilant with the information recorded on financial statements because managers can manage corporate earnings, especially at high short-term debt levels.

Opis:
This study used fractional distillation to separate citronellal and geraniol from citronella (Cymbopogon winterianus) essential oil to improve their market value. The one-factor-at-a-time methodology investigated operating parameters’ optimum conditions and effects, including system pressure, packing types, and column height. All investigations were evaluated based on their main fraction’s citronellal and geraniol content and recovery. Regarding the effect of the variables, a higher system pressure improved the separation while increasing the temperature range of each fraction and distillation time. The packing types would also improve the separation by providing a large surface area. Finally, the column height also positively impacted the separation. In the optimum citronella oil fractionation, citronellal content experienced a 2.5-fold increase, from 37.68% to 94.33%. Geraniol purity reached 40.61% from an initial content of 17.33% in the raw CW oil. The distillation could recover up to 90.00% of citronellal and 68.18% of geraniol.

Opis:
Large rock mass deformation around deep roadways in the weak rocks was a significant problem in mining activities in Vietnam and other countries. The excavation of roadways leads to high releasing stress, which exceeds the peak strength of spalling surrounding rock and causes it to enter the post-failure stage. Tensile failures then initiate and develop around the roadways, which causes the fragmentation, dilation, and separation of surrounding rock. The capacity of the primary support system is low, which results in a severe contraction in the whole section of roadways, which requires finding solutions to prevent the deformation of rock mass around roadways and technical solutions from stabilizing for deep roadways. To stability analysis of roadways can be applied analytical, experimental, semi-experimental, and numerical methods. This paper introduces the prevention mechanism of large deformation of rock mass around roadways using 2-level rock bolts. The research results show that using the system of two-level rock bolts can reduce the values of tensile stress on the boundary of roadways range from 10 to 15% compared with only one. The importance of the total displacement of rock mass on the boundary of roadways will be reduced from 3.47 to 13.85% using six long cable bolts.

Opis:
A sediment budget for the central Vietnam shelf off Nha Trang over the last deglacial Holocene highstand period has been investigated on the basis of shallow seismic and sediment core data and empirical equations. The annual suspended sediment discharge to the Nha Trang shelf ranges from: 4.3 to 5.4 Mt/year. Estimates based on published empirical equations suggest that the sediment discharge by three main local mountainous rivers (the Cai, Dinh and Van Phong rivers) that enter the Nha Trang shelf ranges between 1.7 and 4 Mt/year, which implies that the local rivers discharge approximately 75% of the total annual sediment input to the shelf. The annual sediment supply of the Cai River is approximately 2 and 6 times higher than that of the Dinh and Van Phong rivers, respectively. The highstand sediment depocentre of the Nha Trang shelf is mostly attached to the local river outflows, indicating their importance as the principal sediment supply sources to the shelf. Additional sources of sediment supply to the Nha Trang shelf can probably be related to along-shore transport from the nearby shelves. Calculations based on seismic and sediment core data indicate that the net sediment volume storage on the Nha Trang shelf is approximately 2.15 Mt/year. Approximately 50% of the total sediment yield supplied to the shelf is probably transported along-shore to the south. The sediment budget model for highstand deposits on the Nha Trang shelf is typical for a small mountainous river basin, which is significantly different from that of the large river delta systems in Vietnam such as the Mekong and Red rivers where 90% of the river sediments are captured on the delta plain/subaqueous part and only 10% of the river sediments are transported to the nearby shelf. In contrast, most of the sediments supplied by small mountainous rivers off Nha Trang are transported to the mid-shelf, forming a shore-parallel mud depocentre.

Opis:
Essential oil extraction technique from mandarin pixie peels by hydro-distillation is optimized by respon-se surface methodology (RSM). Mathematical techniques were used in experimental design to evaluate the impacts of factors that affect the extraction process and improve the yield of the extraction process. A central mixed design based on infl uencing variables such as water ratio (3–5 mL/g), temperature (110–130° C) and extraction time (90–150 min) was adopted with essential oil yield as the target func-tion. Correlation analysis of the mathematical regression model showed that the quadratic polynomial model can be used to optimize hydro-distillation of pixie mandarin oil. The results showed that under the optimum extraction conditions, the highest quantity of essential oils was achieved (7.28 mL/100 g materials). In terms of statistical analysis, the signifi cance levels (p-value <0.05) of the model showed that the experimental results had a good impact between factors. The coeffi cient of determination indicating the match between the experimental value and the predicted value of the model was high (R2>0.9). The chemical composition of the essential oil was analyzed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, revealing the dominance of limonene content (97.667%), which implies that the essential oil of pixie mandarin could be an alternative source of limonene.

Opis:
Facial recognition has been one of the most intriguing and exciting research topics over the last few years. It involves multiple face-based algorithms such asfacial detection, facial alignment, facial representation, and facial recognition. However, all of these algorithms are derived from large deep-learning architectures, leading to limitations in development, scalability, accuracy, and deployment for public use with mere CPU servers. Also, large data sets that contain hundreds of thousands of records are often required for training purposes. In this paper, we propose a complete pipeline for an effective face-recognition application that requires only a small data set of Vietnamese celebrities and a CPU for training, solving the problem of data leakage, and the need for GPU devices. The pipeline is based on the combination of a conversion algorithm from face vectors to string tokens and the indexing & retrieval process by Elasticsearch, thereby tackling the problem of online learning in facial recognition. Compared with other popular algorithms on the same data set, our proposed pipeline not only outperforms the counterpart in terms of accuracy but also delivers faster inference, which is essential to real-time applications.
