Opis:
Purpose Antifungals compounds have gained significant attention, and in this context, fluconazole as an antifungal is used predominantly, and the use of a nanoformulated form of this is discussed. Design/methodology/approach Fluconazole, an FDA-approved antibiotic, is an effective antimicrobial especially used to treat fungal infections. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it contains fluoride with triazole functionality. Its efficacy against various types of fungus is demonstrated. Findings Although it is one of the effective antibiotics, its side effects are well documented, and due to this, many techniques are tried to improve its efficacy with lesser side effects. Research limitations/implications In this respect, nanoparticles play a crucial role, and many studies worldwide are carried out on this aspect. Among many nano techniques use of chitosan as well as lipid carriers of fluconazole are being considered. However, systematic studies are warranted to take this aspect into clinical trials. Practical implications Nano-based platforms seem to be an alternating hope to combat resistance and side effect. Originality/value A thorough study is the need of the hour to devise a proper nano-based strategy of fluconazole.

Opis:
Purpose: of this paper is to prepare a nano magnetic fluids with nano additives to have the combined characteristics of high yield stress and better magnetic properties for smart vehicles. This study focuses on increasing the sedimentation time of the fluid using suitable nano additive nickel along with graphene as fillers. Design/methodology/approach: Magnetic nano sized nickel particle based electromagneto-rheological fluid was prepared and graphene nanoparticle with thickness less than 10nm was introduced as an additive to reduce its sedimentation. This added plate like graphene acts as filler which seals the interfaces of nickel particles and thereby it improves the resistance to sedimentation. Triton X 100 was added as the surfactant for the fluid to reduce the agglomeration of the particles. Findings: Morphology of pure nickel and graphene were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images. Research limitations/implications: The important limitations is that freely dispersed micron sized iron particles could settle over a period of time, in the form of cakes at the bottommost, and it is tedious to recuperate as dispersed phase. In this investigation, nano sized nickel particles were used as additive to reduce the sedimentation of micron sized iron particles so that, the mixture is homogeneous for extended period of time. In future, addition of different types composite additives in the magnetorheological fluid could be made for the better sedimentation control. Practical implications: The sedimentation problem is one of the major drawback in the smart fluids, which can be eliminated by adding nano particles. For conventional fluid, the complete sedimentation will occur in 2 hours while the improved nano magnetic fluid with additive has good resistance to settle the micron sized iron particle up to 10 hours. Originality/value: To prepare a low cost magnetorheological fluid with nano additives like nickel particles along with fillers as graphene nano particles. With this addition of nickel and inclusion of graphene, the sedimentation problem in magnetorheological fluids is significantly reduced. This magnetorheological fluids can be used in brakes and dampers of automobiles.

Opis:
A numerical and experimental study was carried out on oxygen enriched intake in an spark ignited (SI) engine. The study aims at validation of Wiebe function for oxygen enriched intake. This computational study was carried out at full load conditions at four engine speeds (2500, 3000, 3500 and 4000 rpm) for different blends of oxygen enriched gasoline (4%, 8% and 12% by mass of oxygen) in AVL BOOST, a one dimension engine analysis software. The computational and experimental results complement each other validating the use of AVL Boost for oxygen enriched intake. HC and CO emissions decreased drastically with increasing concentration of oxygen. However, there was abrupt increase in concentration of NOx emissions.

Opis:
BackgroundPhysical therapists are known to be susceptible to work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs), but the prevalence of WMSDs in Saudi Arabia has not been documented. This study aimed to establish the prevalence, characteristics, and risk factors of WMSDs among physical therapists in Saudi Arabia.Material and MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted among 113 physical therapists in Saudi Arabia using a 6-component questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, incidence, percentages, and χ2 test were used for data analysis.ResultsThe response rate was 68.8%. The reported 12-month incidence of WMSDs was 83.8%. The low back (63.7%) was the most common site of these disorders, followed by the neck (59.2%), while the hip/thigh (4.4%) was the least involved body part. Incidence was related to gender: females were more affected than males (neck, shoulders, low back); age: younger therapists were more affected than older ones (shoulders, low back); working sector: government sector workers were more affected than those employed in other sectors (neck); and specialty: orthopedic specialists were the most frequently affected, followed by those specializing in neurology (thumbs, upper back, knees, ankle/foot). Most of the physical therapists had >5 periods of neck, shoulder, and low-back WMSDs. The most important risk factor for WMSDs was treating more patients in a day (47.7%). The most frequently adopted handling strategy identified to combat WMSDS was modifying the patient’s position (62.8%).ConclusionsOverall, WMSDs among physical therapists in Saudi Arabia are common, with the low back and the neck constituting the most frequently affected body regions. Professional experience and the awareness of ergonomics principles can help prevent the early development of WMSDs among physical therapists. Med Pr. 2021;72(4):363–73
