uncertainty of quality
Opis:
This paper focuses on the issue of spa & wellness services market transparency in the context of official regulations. The issue is significant, since the entire tourism sector in Poland is generally regulated to a great extent. It concerns, among others, the categories of tourist resorts and the standard of rendered services. Detailed regulations, however, do not cover spa & wellness services, which have been relatively new form of spending free time. No standards on one hand, and no relevant regulations on the other result in this market being characterized by a serious quality span depending on particular service providers. The goal of this paper is an examination of the thesis that no uniform national regulation of the Polish spa & wellness market is a reason for poor market transparency resulting from information asymmetry which, in turn, results from quality uncertainty. The theoretical thoughts have been proven by the authors' surveys focused on the shape of the spa & wellness services market in the Dolny Śląsk area. The first part of the paper presents a theoretical background of the issue related to uncertainty of the quality, information asymmetry and finally – the market transparency. The next part of the paper is focused on the Polish spa & wellness market and it comprises an analysis of the effects caused by poor transparency of the market. Another part reveals the regulations of the tourism market and proves that no uniform regulations pertaining to spa & wellness services makes that the remain-ing legislation ineffective in the field of shaping high-quality services. The last part of the paper deals with self-regulation of the spa & wellness market and reasons for the insufficient efficiency.

Opis:
This article is an attempt of understanding relations between financing a social cooperative from public funds and the dynamic of its growth in Lower Silesia. In the period 2006-2012 there was consistent but irregular development of this form of enterprise. A lot of privileges connected with running a social cooperative are the encouragement of taking the risk of its establishment. Social character of social cooperatives is normative development of a social enterprise concept. There is no doubt that this concept though normatively right, is not fully consistent with contemporary competition. In this paper there is a thesis that the dynamics of development of social comperative in majority depends on additional founds assigned to activate entities that can be potential founders. This work uses authors’ research and analysis of projects financed from structural funds.

Opis:
This article is an attempt to establish the level of Internet use in a business activity by managers of social cooperatives operating in Lower Silesia. Social cooperatives as a form of social enterprise must maintain a profitable business activity. Only this way they can provide jobs for people facing social exclusion, which is their primary objective. To make this possible it is necessary to take market orientation approach so also compete with other for-profit entrepreneurs. The article discusses the results of authors’ research about on-line business activity of social cooperatives in Lower Silesia and compares them to the results of an analysis carried out for the small and medium enterprises sector. This sector was chosen as a control group because of similarities between it and the social enterprises sector. The conducted analyzes show a lower level of social cooperatives on-line business activity especially among the newly created entities.

Opis:
In the stratigraphic division of the Saalian (Middle Pleistocene) in Europe, the Wartanian cold period has the rank of a stadial of the Odranian Glaciation, correlated with MIS 6. The authors demonstrate the higher rank of this cold period, on the basis of an analysis of the sedimentary succession in eastern Poland, at an exposure of the terminal moraine of the Wartanian ice sheet. At the Wólka Zagórna site, three stratigraphic units were distinguished: A (lower glacigenic deposits – glaciofluvial deposits and subglacial till), A/B (fossil soil of lessivé type), B and C (a periglacial horizon with deflation pavement, involutions, frost-wedge structures and upper glaciofluvial deposits and flow till, with ice-wedge casts). Two distinct periods of climatic cooling, associated with the youngest Saalian ice sheets, were recorded in this succession in E Poland: Odranian (unit A, an ice-sheet transgression marked by the deposition of glaciofluvial deposits dated as 365–226 ka, ending with the deposition of subglacial till), and Wartanian (units B and C, an ice sheet transgression marked by development of a periglacial zone, dated as 180–126 ka, and then deposition of glacigenic sediments at the front of the ice sheet and formation of a marginal moraine). Each of these periods of ice-sheet transgression occurred at a different time (in the MIS 8 and MIS 6 positions) and were separated by a warm period. It is documented by unit A/B – a fossil soil with a very well developed Bt horizon – which attests to its formation in an illuviation process beneath a complex of mixed forests during an interstadial warming that occurred in MIS 7. From this palaeoclimatic reconstruction, it is inferred that the Wartanian cold period should be viewed as a separate glaciation in MIS 6 and the Odranian period should be assigned to MIS 8 in the stratigraphic schema of the Quaternary.
