Opis:
A study on plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging load and its impacts on distribution transformers loss-of-life, is presented in this paper. The assessment is based on residential PEV battery charging. As the exact forecasting of the charging load is not possible, the method for predicting the electric vehicle (EV) charging load is stochastically formulated. With the help of the stochastic model, the effect of fixed, time of use, and real-time charging rates on the charging load and the resultant impact on transformer derating is investigated. A 38-bus test system is adopted as the test system including industrial harmonic sources. Test results demonstrate that uncontrolled EV charging might causes a noticeable change in the K-factor of the transformer, emerging the need for derating, while applying real-time rates for battery charging loads conquers this problem even in case of harmonic-rich chargers.

Opis:
Internetworked e-Work is enabling new channels in cyber space for collaboration among physical and cyber agents, e.g., humans, robots, software agents. Research on Collaborative Control Theory (CCT) indicates that building and augmenting the Collaborative Intelligence (CI) of participants in cyber-physical networks can provide better support for achieving their individual and common goals. In spite of its rising significance and popularity, however, no clear and precise definition and universal quantitative measure has been proposed for the CI. In this article, we first formalize the CI by suggesting a formal definition, based on the definitions of its elements - collaboration and intelligence. We then propose a quantitative measure for the CI, adapted from the universal intelligence measure. For illustration, we analyze three recent collaborative e-Work studies at three different scales: (1) Telerobotenabled computer supported collaborative design; (2) Collaborative product line control in supply networks; (3) Demand and capacity sharing in multi-enterprise collaboration. From these case studies, common advantages such as work efficiency, network robustness and stability, service level, resource utilization, and collaboration cost are observed, analyzed, and translated into formal CI measures. Results indicate significant impacts of CI on the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of collaborative activities in emerging e-Work networks.

The effect of gamma radiation with 0, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, and 450 Gy intensities on the longevity, total number of eggs, and the percent of hatched eggs laid by irradiated females of Tetranychus urticae Koch (Tetranychidae) was evaluated. Two different groups (0–24 h old and 48–72 h old) of adult females were irradiated. The results showed that 350 and 300 Gy doses significantly reduced the longevity of the 0–24 h old females and the 48–72 h old females. The younger females were more tolerant at lower dose rates than the older females. There was a quadratic relationship between dose rates and young females, while it was linear in older females. The total number of eggs laid by females of both ages was significantly reduced with a linear trend by 250 Gy irradiation. The eggs laid by females of both the 0–24 h olds and the 48–72 h olds lost their hatchability when the dose rate was 350 Gy. It was concluded, that applying a dose rate of 320 Gy on one of the mates (male or female) before mating, or a 300 Gy on both of them, would be sufficient to cause sterility in adult mites.

Opis:
Preliminary design of a spherical brain PET (SBPET) using liquid xenon (LXe) as detector is considered in this research work. The major advantage of a spherical design is the large solid angle of acceptance which improves the sensitivity and increases signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the image. The use of a liquid active medium enabled us to design a spherical detector. LXe, due to the intrinsic physical properties, is an excellent liquid medium for accurate tracking of gamma rays in the relevant energy range. The performance of SBPET was evaluated by Monte Carlo simulation tools (GATE) and compared to ECAT HRRT. The numerical results showed the SBPET has a sensitivity of 1.14% and spatial resolution of ~2.7 mm FWHM which is superior to ECAT HRRT especially at high-count rates.

Opis:
Novel, magnetic, polyurethane, rigid foam nanocomposites were synthesized by incorporation of surface modified iron oxide nanoparticles with n-(2-aminoethyl)-3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (AEAP) via a one shot method. The resulting data showed remarkable improvements in the thermal, as well as magnetic, properties of the nanocomposites when nanoparticles were incorporated into the polymer matrix. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Vibrating Sample Magnetometry (VSM), Thermomechanical Analysis (TMA) and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA). The effect of different amounts of Fe3O4/AEAP on the thermal and magnetic behavior of the resultant nanocomposite was investigated and the optimum percentage of the nanostructures in the foam formulation was defined.
Nowe, magnetyczne nanokompozyty otrzymano metodą jednoetapową, wprowadzając do matrycy poliuretanowej (PUR) modyfikowane powierzchniowo nanocząstki żelaza (Fe3O4/AEAP). Badano wpływ dodatku różnej ilości nanocząstek magnetycznych na morfologię, właściwości termiczne i magnetyczne wytworzonych materiałów. Otrzymane sztywne pianki poliuretanowe zawierające cząstki Fe3O4/AEAP badano metodami skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej (SEM), spektroskopii w podczerwieni z transformacją Fouriera (FT-IR), magnetometrii zwirującą próbką (VSM), analizy termomechanicznej (TMA) oraz termograwimetrycznej (TGA). Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników stwierdzono, że wprowadzone do matrycy poliuretanowej magnetyczne cząstki zmodyfikowanego tlenku żelaza wpłynęły korzystnie na termiczne i magnetyczne właściwości otrzymanych nanokompozytów sztywnych pianek poliuretanowych.

A total Roman dominating function on a graph G is a labeling f : V (G) → {0, 1, 2} such that every vertex with label 0 has a neighbor with label 2 and the subgraph of G induced by the set of all vertices of positive weight has no isolated vertex. The minimum weight of a total Roman dominating function on a graph G is called the total Roman domination number of G. The total Roman reinforcement number rtR(G) of a graph G is the minimum number of edges that must be added to G in order to decrease the total Roman domination number. In this paper, we investigate the proper- ties of total Roman reinforcement number in graphs, and we present some sharp bounds for rtR(G). Moreover, we show that the decision problem for total Roman reinforcement is NP-hard for bipartite graphs.

Opis:
A 2-rainbow dominating function (2RDF) of a graph $G = (V(G), E(G))$ is a function $f$ from the vertex set $V(G)$ to the set of all subsets of the set {1, 2} such that for every vertex $v ∈ V(G)$ with $f(v) = ∅$ the condition \(\bigcup_{u∈N(v)}f(u) = \{1, 2\}\) is fulfilled, where $N(v)$ is the open neighborhood of $v$. A total 2-rainbow dominating function $f$ of a graph with no isolated vertices is a 2RDF with the additional condition that the subgraph of $G$ induced by $\{v ∈ V (G) | f(v) ≠∅\}$ has no isolated vertex. The total 2-rainbow domination number, $\gamma_{tr2}(G)$, is the minimum weight of a total 2-rainbow dominating function of $G$. In this paper, we establish some sharp upper and lower bounds on the total 2-rainbow domination number of a tree. Moreover, we show that the decision problem associated with $\gamma_{tr2}(G)$ is NP-complete for bipartite and chordal graphs.

Opis:
During 2012, soil samples from commercial pistachio orchards in three major production regions include Rafsanjan (Kerman Province, center of Iran), Damghan (Semnan Province, north-central Iran) and Feyz-Abad (Khorasan-e Razavi Province, northeastern Iran), were assayed on Dichloran Rose-Bengal Chloramphenicol agar (DRBC) and Aspergillus flavus-parasiticus agar media to quantify populations of Aspergillus species from the section Flavi. The mean propagule density of Aspergillus species from the Flavi section [log10 (CFU/g soil)] was higher in Feyz-Abad (3.06, 2.88–3.24), compared to Damghan (2.55, 2.44–2.65) and Rafsanjan (2.40, 2.26–2.54). A. flavus (69.7, 65.3 and 57.9%), A. parasiticus (19.6, 25.4, and 29.3%), and A. nomius (10.7, 9.3, and 12.8%) were the predominant species in the regions of Rafsanjan, Damghan, and Feyz-Abad, respectively. There were significant differences among sclerotia producing isolates of A. flavus in the sampling regions (p < 0.05). The percentage of sclerotium-producing isolates of A. flavus from Rafsanjan (14.5%) was much lower than Damghan (39.5%) and Feyz-Abad (41.4%). The A. flavus isolates from Damghan, Rafsanjan, and Feyz-Abad were toxigenic at 53.7%, 61.6%, and 60.4%, respectively. In Rafsanjan, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), and AFB1 + AFB2 (aflatoxin B2) ranged from 274 to 553 ppb (393±17.11) and 394 to 3745 ppb, respectively, while AFB1, and AFB1 + AFB2 ranged from 257 to 392 ppb (285±13.18) and 415 to 1658 ppb, respectively, in Damghan. We found 16 and 20 vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) for 41 and 37 nit mutant producing isolates of A. flavus from Rafsanjan and Damghan, respectively. From Damghan the VCG diversity for A. flavus isolates was greater (54%) than from Rafsanjan (39%). Because there were a few number of sclerotium-producing isolates of A. flavus, we did not determine the relationships between sclerotium production with VCGs and/or geographical distribution in the three pistachio production regions. This study was the first to determine the strain and VCG diversity of A. flavus soil isolates from Iranian pistachio orchards.

Opis:
The Aspergillus flavus population structure from maize kernels was examined. During 2011, samples were collected from two main grain maize production areas in Iran (Fars and Ardebil provinces), shortly before harvest. One-hundred nine A. flavus isolates were recovered on Dichloran Rose Bengal Chloramphenicole (DRBC) agar and Aspergillus flavus/parasiticus medium (AFPA) and grouped into morphotypes and Vegetative Compatibility Groups (VCGs) based on morphological (e.g. sclerotia production), physiological (e.g. aflatoxin-producing ability) and genetic criteria (e.g. heterokaryosis). In general, morphotype and VCG composition were highly dissimilar in both provinces. In total, 43.8% and 44.3% of A. flavus isolates from Ardebil and Fars, respectively, produced sclerotia. Sclerotia producers were identified as A. flavus L and S strain morphotypes in Ardebil (66.7% and 33.3%, respectively) and Fars (29.6% and 70.4%, respectively). Furthermore, 71 isolates (65.1%) were able to produce aflatoxin (Ardebil 40.8%, Fars 59.2%). The aflatoxin values were categorized into four different classes (< 10, 10-100, 100-1,000 and > 1,000 ppb). In total, 51 aflatoxin producing isolates of A. flavus (Ardebil n = 22, Fars n = 29) were assigned into 26 VCGs by complementation of nit auxotrophs on nitrate medium. None of the A. flavus isolates from Ardebil complemented with any isolates from Fars. Genetic diversity of A. flavus isolates was 59.1% and 41.8% for Ardebil and Fars, respectively. The different geographical adaptation and genetic make-up of A. flavus isolates may be due to different climatic conditions, soil types and crop sequences in both maize production areas.
