    Der Aufsatz ist der interlingualen Lakunen gewidmet, die als lexikalische und kulturelle Besonderheiten Elemente des Diskurses sind (Miłosz-Szewczyk 2022). Als Schlüsselwörter kommen sie auch in Fachtexten bzw. in Fachdiskursen vor und aktivieren bei den Adressaten das Fachwissen und manifestieren somit den sprachlichen Wissensumfang. Die Analyse des polnischen Mediendiskurses ermöglicht, Wissensbestände über den Fachdiskurs zu vermitteln, in dem die Lakune frankowicz/frankowiec auftaucht. Die der Analyse unterzogene Lakune gilt sowohl als Medienphänomen als auch als Anzeichen der typischen Realia der polnischen Kultur. Das Hauptziel der Untersuchung ist es, die Bedeutung der in Frage stehenden Lakune im laufenden Diskurs zu erschließen und zu aktualisieren. Das Unterfangen basiert auf früheren Forschungen (Miłosz-Szewczyk 2022) und setzt sich zum Ziel festzustellen, ob und in welchem Ausmaß ein möglicher Bedeutungswandel des Lexems frankowicz/frankowiec stattgefunden hat. Anhand der Fallstudie wird zugleich illustriert, wie Lakunen im Diskurs Expertenwissen auslösen. Durch die Rekonstruierung aktueller Bedeutung der Lakune aufgrund der Diskursanalyse werden nämlich existente Wissensbestände aktiviert und neue gebildet, die die lexikalische und aktuelle Bedeutung ergänzen. Somit wird bestätigt, dass das Wissen mithilfe von Lakunen distribuiert und konstituiert wird und der Mediendiskurs den Zugang zum Fachdiskurs ermöglicht.
    The paper is dedicated to interlingual lacunas such as lexical and cultural features, which are elements of discourse (Miłosz-Szewczyk 2022). As keywords they occur in specialist texts and discourses and activate the addressees’ expert knowledge and thus manifest the scope of linguistic knowledge. Analyzing the Polish media discourse makes it possible to convey knowledge about the specialist discourse in which the lacuna frankowicz/frankowiec appears. The lacuna subjected to analysis is considered both a media phenomenon and a sign of the typical realia of Polish culture. The main aim of the study is to explore and update the meaning of the lacuna in question in the current discourse. The endeavor is based on earlier research (Miłosz-Szewczyk 2022) and aims to determine whether and to what extent a possible change in the meaning of the lexeme frankowicz/frankowiec has taken place. The case study also illustrates how lacunas trigger expert knowledge in discourse. Through the reconstruction of its actual meaning on the basis of the discourse analysis, existing stocks of knowledge are activated and new ones are formed that complete the lexical and actual meaning. This confirms that knowledge is distributed and constituted with the help of lacunas and enables the media discourse to access the specialized discourse.

    This article refers to lacuna as an ethnopsycholinguistic research category. Absolute language lacunas, which are revealed in the comparison of the German and Polish language and culture in relation to lexis, will be characterized in more detail. Their presence is both a sign and a cause of non-equivalence. They can be eliminated in the delacunisation process by applying concrete translation strategies.

    Niniejszy artykuł jest recenzją naukową książki „Angewandte Linguistik – Neue Herausforderungen und Konzepte” pod redakcją Sylwii Adamczak-Krysztofowicz, Anny Szczepaniak-Kozak i Pawła Rybszlegera wydanej z okazji 70. urodzin prof. dr hab. Izabeli Prokop. W tomie zaprezentowano wiele interesujących artykułów, które wpisują się w siedem obszarów tematycznych: pragmatykę i socjolingwistykę, studia kontrastywne, interkulturowość, nauczanie języków, języki specjalistyczne, tłumaczenia pisemne i ustne, pejzaże językowe oraz podejmują aktualne problemy badawcze Lingwistyki stosowanej.
    This article is a scientific review of the book „Angewandte Linguistik – Neue Herausforderungen und Konzepte” edited by Sylwia Adamczak-Krysztofowicz, Anna Szczepaniak-Kozak and Paweł Rybszleger on the occasion of the 70th birthday of Professor Dr habil. Izabela Prokop. Numerous interesting contributions were presented in the volume, which are inscribed in the seven thematic areas of pragma and sociolinguistic studies, contrastive studies, interculturality, language acquisition and language teaching research, specialized languages, translation and interpreting, linguistic landscapes and the puriut of the current research questions of Applied linguistics.

    This paper presents a model for the reconstruction of the actual meaning of interlingual lacunas. Lacunas as lexical units, present in one culture and absent in another, that hinder the reception of texts and cause difficulties in translation. The clarification of their meaning is possible by analysing the discursive contexts and the discourse fragments in which they occur. Based on the discourse paradigm, a model for the reconstruction of the actual meaning has been developed that consists of individual stages of analysis. According to the assumptions of the proposed model, the case study reconstructs the actual meaning of the lacuna Drachenfutter in German.

    Autorka niniejszego artykułu poddaje analizie konteksty użyć absolutnych lakun językowych we fragmentach dyskursu. Za lakuny absolutne uważa się leksemy, które nie występują jako wyrażenia hasłowe w słownikach dwujęzycznych polsko-niemieckich i niemiecko--polskich ani nie mają odpowiednika w języku docelowym. Przeprowadzona analiza kontekstów występowania absolutnych lakun językowych opiera się na kategoriach analitycznych Krytycznej Analizy Dyskursu (KAD) (Jäger, 2004) i płaszczyzny intratekstualnej modelu DIMEAN (Warnke, Spitzmüller, 2008; 2011). W jej wyniku zostało zrekonstruowane aktualne znaczenie niemieckojęzycznych absolutnych lakun językowych i został im nadany status słów kluczy i słów stygmatów.
    The author of this article analyses the context of using absolute linguistic lacunas in fragments of the discourse. Absolute lacunas are considered to be lexemes, which do not appear as fixed expressions in Polish-German and German-Polish bilingual dictionaries and have no equivalent in the target language. The analysis of the contexts of absolute linguistic lacunas is based on the analytical categories of Critical Discourse Analysis (KAD) (Jäger, 2004) and the intratextual layer of the multi-layered model of analysis DIMEAN (Warnke, Spitzmüller, 2008; 2011). As a result, the actual meaning of German absolute linguistic lacunas has been reconstructed and the lacunas have been given the status of key words and stigma words.

    Circulating tumor cells (CTC) are cells in circulating blood that have the antigen and gene features of tumor cells of a specific type. Since they can be potentially used in diagnostics and monitoring of treatment of many tumors, they have been attracting attention of researchers worldwide. Plastin-3 (PL S3) is one of such markers of CTC. The aim of the study was to assess expression of PL S3 in CTC in patients with colorectal cancer, to conduct a statistical analysis and to demonstrate a link between expression of PL S3 and progress of the disease, level of CEA and Ca19-9 markers, gender and age of the patients. Material and methods. A group of 85 patients of the Department of General and Colorectal Surgery of the Medical University in Łódź were enrolled in this study. Circulating tumor cells were isolated from whole blood of patients with colorectal cancer and an analysis of PL S3 gene expression in CTC was conducted. The next step was to conduct a statistical analysis and to demonstrate a link between expression of PL S3 in patients’ CTC and progress of the disease, level of CEA and Ca19-9 markers, gender and age of the patients. Results. PL S3 is a marker which can be potentially used in prediction and monitoring of colorectal cancer. A link between expression of PL S3 in CTC of patients with colorectal cancer and metastasis to lymph nodes has been demonstrated. It may be of key importance how PL S3 could impact the qualification to supplementary cancer treatment in patients with stage II colorectal cancer. A link between expression of PL S3 gene in CTC and gender requires further in-depth studies. It is beyond doubt that PL S3 must be further investigated to determine its role in diagnostics, prediction, treatment and monitoring of treatment of colorectal cancer
