    El artículo desarrolla algunas reflexiones sobre las relaciones que unen la ciudad (las ciudades) con el medio ambiente en sus alrededores. Los autores, basándose en la literatura y, también, en las investigaciones de campo realizadas en Ecuador y en España, emprendieron la tarea de clasificar dichas relaciones, indicando tres tipos de las mismas. El primero consiste en una constante expansión de la ciudad, unida a la apropiación y privatización del espacio público que pueden ser asociadas con la actuación depredadora y parasitaria en relación con el medio ambiente. El segundo tipo de relaciones entre la ciudad y su entorno natural es una especie de coexistencia que podemos asociar con la simbiosis. El tercero, es el más armonioso, equilibrado y que preserva para las generacion es futuras no solo el medio ambiente, sino también el patrimonio cultural.
    This article is an attempt to reflect on the relationships linking city (cities) with the surrounding natural environment. Based on literature review and field research in Ecuador and Spain, the authors have attempted to classify those relationships. Three types of those can be distinguished. The first is the constant expansion of the city, appropriation and privatization of the public space, associated with environmentally harmful parasitism and predation. The second type of relationship between city and its surroundings is a kind of coexistence similar symbiosis. The third type of relationship is the most harmonious and balanced, preserving for future generations, not only the environment, but also the cultural heritage.

    W artykule zwrócono uwagę na trzy elementy, które złożyły się na rozwój turystyki winiarskiej w Polsce. Pierwszym jest historia uprawy winorośli, wytwarzania wina, handlu nim oraz składowania i dojrzewania win w Polsce. Świadectwa tych działań są elementami dziedzictwa kulturowego, do których nawiązują współcześni winiarze i rodząca się enoturystyka. Drugim elementem jest ocieplenie klimatu, które sprzyja powrotowi winorośli w miejsca, w których niegdyś ją w Polsce uprawiano. Zainteresowaniu uprawą winorośli i wytwarzaniem wina towarzyszy wzrost spożycia wina w Polsce, wynikający m.in. z wyjazdów enoturystycznych do krajów, w których mają one długą historię. Przyczynia się do tego moda na kuchnię śródziemnomorską, której wino jest nieodłącznym składnikiem – to trzeci element. Mimo iż Polska nie stanie się potęgą enoturystyczną, to turystyka winiarska może się przyczynić do rozwoju lokalnego. Aby odnieść sukces, powinna być częścią szerokiej oferty turystycznej.
    The article focuses on three issues that contributed to the development of wine tourism in Poland. The first is the history of viticulture, winemaking, its trade and the storage and maturation of wines in Poland. Certificates of these actions are part of the cultural heritage, to which refers contemporary winemakers and an emerging enotourism. The second issue is global warming, which favors return of vineyards in places where once it was cultivated in Poland. Interest in viticulture and wine production is accompanied by an increase in wine consumption in Poland, due touristic trips to countries where enotourism have a long history. This is accompanied by the fashion of the Mediterranean kitchen, where wine is an integral component – that’s the third issue. Although Poland will not become a power in an enotourism, but a wine tourism can contribute to the local development. To achieve success, enotourism should be a part of broad touristic offer.

    Krajobrazy winiarskie wyspy Pico* swoją unikatowością kuszą i przyciągają, w równiej mierze badaczy i turystów. Wśród europejskich krajobrazów z winnicami nie sposób znaleźć podobnych. Również w dostępnej literaturze, w folderach turystycznych, różnych źródłach internetowych niewiele jest wzmianek o krajobrazach winiarskich choćby zbliżonych fizjonomią, podobnie wykształconych, jak te z azorskiej wyspy Pico. Walor ich unikatowości, historia i miejsce w kulturze regionu były podstawą uznania przez UNESCO za dziedzictwo kulturowe ludzkości, co być może zapewnia im ochronę i przetrwanie dzięki zainteresowaniu turystów. Przedmiotem szczególnego zainteresowania i celem autorów artykułu było poznanie przyrodniczych i kulturowych uwarunkowań uprawy winorośli na wyspie Pico oraz powstania tam unikatowych krajobrazów winiarskich. Analizie tych uwarunkowań poświęcono zasadniczą część pracy. Krótki pobyt na Pico umożliwił przeprowadzenie jedynie prostych obserwacji terenowych oraz ograniczonej liczby nieustrukturyzowanych wywiadów z pracownikami miejscowych instytucji kulturalnych i mieszkańcami wyspy. Koniecznym uzupełnieniem informacji zebranych w terenie były kameralne studia literatury przedmiotu oraz konsultacje z innymi badaczami już po opuszczeniu wyspy Pico.
    The unique wine-growing landscapes of the island of Pico* in the Azores tempt and attract researchers and tourists in equal measure. Among Europe’s wine-growing landscapes it is impossible to find similar ones. Moreover, in the available literature, tourist brochures and various internet sources there are few mentions of vineyard landscapes that even vaguely resemble those of the Azorean island of Pico in physiognomy. Their uniqueness, history and place in the culture of the region were the basis for their being recognised by UNESCO for a place on the Cultural Heritage of Humanity list, which perhaps ensures their protection and survival thanks to the interest of tourists. The subject of particular interest to the authors and their aim in writing the article was to get to know the natural and cultural conditions of grape cultivation on Pico Island and how the unique wine-growing landscapes there are formed. The main body of the paper is devoted to an analysis of these conditions. Our short stay on Pico only allowed for simple field observations and a limited number of unstructured interviews with staff from local cultural institutions and islanders. Information gathered in the field was complemented by in-depth studies of the subject literature and consultations with other scholars after leaving Pico Island.

    This article concerns the transitions of cultural landscapes, especially of viticultural landscapes. The authors do not aim to present new definition of the term “landscape” but base their study on the existing output of Polish and foreign scholars. The fact that cultural landscapes are in a constant state of flux is stressed, and periods of both development and regression are included. These phenomena are illustrated with reference to the transformations of Poland's viticultural landscapes, the cultural landscapes of the Palmeral de Elche, and the mouth of the Vistula, as well as the metamorphosis of the landscape of Alto Douro. These examples may be an apt illustration of F. Braudel's concept of “longue durée”.
