Opis:
The aim of the paper is to investigate an oscillatory fluid flow and heat transfer through a porous medium between parallel plates in the presence of an inclined magnetic field, radiative heat flux and heat source. It is assumed that electrical conductivity of the fluid is small and the electromagnetic force produced is very small. The governing coupled equations of motion and energy are solved analytically. Numerical results for the velocity and temperature profiles, local skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number for various values of physical parameters are discussed numerically and presented graphically.

Opis:
Mung bean or moong or green gram, an important grain legume, is cultivated mainly in Asian countries and other parts of the world as a food crop. It is a highly nutritious grain legume with a high content of easily digestible proteins (20–32%), carbohydrates (53.3–67.1%), lipids (0.71–1.85%), vitamins, minerals, and fiber. It also contains some antinutrients such as tannins, phytic acid, hemagglutinin, polyphenols, and trypsin inhibitors in low concentrations. The sprouting of seeds leads to dynamic changes in metabolites with a decrease in antinutrient content and an increase in the nutritional value. In addition to these nutrients and antinutrients, the plant also contains various other phytochemicals such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenols, glycosides, and bioactive peptides, which exhibit an array of pharmaceutically important properties such as anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, lipid metabolism regulation, antihypertensive, antiallergic, and antitumor. Being rich in nutritional value and other phytochemical components, the plant can be explored further for its pharmaceutical properties and used as an efficient food additive in the preparation of different types of dietary supplements or food-derived drugs.

Opis:
A series of dihydropyrimidine substituted 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives was synthesized by cyclization of carbohydrazide by phosphoryl chloride and benzoic acid in acidic condition. The structures were perceived on the establishment of spectral tools and their purity by elemental analysis. Every compound was primary assessed for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against 5 bacterial strains viz [Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA; ATCC 43300), Klebsiella pneumoniae (ATCC 700603), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Acinetobacter baumannii (ATCC 19606), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853)] and 2 fungi Strains viz. [Candida albicans (ATCC 90028), Cryptococcus neoformans var. grubii (H99; ATCC 208821)]. Some compounds displayed significant antimicrobial activity, out of 15 compounds, 11 compounds indicated promising antifungal activities without any indications of human cells cytotoxic [Hk: Human Embryonic Kidney cells (ATCC CRL-1573)] and haemolytic activity [RBC (ARCBS 5400 00150)].

Some new 2-azetidinone derivatives possessing benzimidazole nucleus were synthesized and characterized by IR, NMR and mass spectral analysis. All synthesized compounds were screened for antimicrobial activity using cup plate method. All the compounds showed moderate to good antimicrobial activity and anti fungal activity.

Opis:
A new health threat in the form of a new variant of Covid-19 called Omicron has emerged globally in this holiday season. This new variant has been declared a variant of concern (VOC) by the World Health Organization and experts are expecting another wave of the pandemic. A lot still unknown about this variant and researchers worldwide are conducting studies to find the nature and characteristics of this mutated strain. Cases have begun to rise dramatically around the world and many countries have already imposed travel restrictions again to prevent disease transmission. It is being speculated that this particular variant has got tendency of immune escape and therefore can even infect fully vaccinated individuals. Vaccination and adhering to Covid-19 guidelines and protocols can curtail the spread of the virus. The present paper focuses on what is currently known about this variant, antigen diagnostic tests, importance of getting fully vaccinated and having booster dose etc. If we want to emerge from this pandemic, countries should practice vaccine equality and solidarity for the good of mankind.

The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected India significantly with country reporting more than 400,000 cases in the month of May 2021 and health system almost collapsing. This was attributed to the new mutant strain also called as the ‘Delta Strain’ which led to high surge of cases across the country. As the country was stabilising over this situation, another imminent threat in the form of Covid Associated Mucormycosis (CAM) challenged the already burdened health system of India. Also called as ‘Black Fungus,’ cases of CAM began to rise rapidly in the last week of May 2021 with multiple states reporting steady rise in the number of cases. Based on the published literature, India contributed to approximately 71% of global cases of CAM from December 2019 to start of April 2021, with majority of the cases occurring during the second wave. The present paper focuses on the epidemic of CAM during the second wave in India highlighting the causes, symptoms and various treatment modalities that have been adopted to cure the disease. Also, spotlight has also been thrown on some other nations where cases of CAM have begun to emerge. Some key recommendations are also mentioned which can prove vital towards disease prevention.

The structures were recognized on the foundation of spectral tools and their purity by elemental analysis. All the compounds were preliminary evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against five bacterial strains viz [Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA; ATCC 43300), Klebsiella pneumoniae (ATCC 700603), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Acinetobacter baumannii (ATCC 19606), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853)] and two fungi Strains viz. [Candida albicans (ATCC 90028), Cryptococcus neoformans (ATCC 208821)]. Several compounds exhibited remarkable antimicrobial activity, out of 15 compounds, three compounds viz. 5a, 5g and 5i showed promising antifungal activities with no signs of human cells cytotoxic [HEK293: Human Embryonic Kidney cells (ATCC CRL-1573)] and haemolytic activity [Whole blood (ARCBS 5400 00150)].

In the present study, the four estuaries were selected from the South Gujarat region to appraise the impact of industrial pollution in the estuarine water samples. The study focused on the tidal variation of nutrients, which disclosed that concentrations of NO2–N, NO3–N, NH4–N, TN, and reactive silicates were higher in low-tide whereas pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen were higher in high-tide water samples. The results of high BOD and low DO expose the anthropogenic inputs in these estuaries during the low-tide. The results of physico-chemical and nutrients parameters of water showed that the pollution level is strongly influenced by tidal and seasonal changes. Pearson’s correlation matrix and principal component analysis (PCA) are applied to a hydrological and hydrographical dataset for finding the spatial-temporal variation during the tidal difference. This study suggested that there is an impact of industrial pollution and anthropogenic inputs on the estuarine water of the study area.
