Opis:
Financial crisis on global markets, initiated in the USA, is regarded as one of the most characteristic phenomena in the contemporary global economy. Effects of the crisis visible in activity of Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) evaluations of the changeability of the REITs market constitute a point of departure in comparing to the share market real estate market. In the study the author is making the assessment of the impact of the financial crisis to the REITs market in the USA, as the instrument combining features of both the capital market and the real estate market. Values of basic share indices of the American capital market, the real estate market and indices market of REITs funds in years 2007- 2012 were compared. Analysis results will show that REITs in conditions of an economic crisis can be destabilizing instrument and being characterized by a highest risk. Determining investment attraction of the REITs funds constitutes the summary of results achieved in the recessionary period.

Opis:
Purpose: The aim of the study is to assess the short- and long-term impact of the pandemic on the activity of REITs on selected global markets. Design/methodology/approach: The research tool consisted in an analysis of the available REIT market indices – FTSE NAREIT Index, and the basic capital market benchmarks, such as the S&P 500, Dow Jones and Russel 2000 indices. On this basis, it could be observed that REITs behaved in a similar way to the capital market, and the reactions of the main global REIT indices dynamically reflected the situation in which the global markets found themselves. Findings: Similar to the 2006-2008 financial crisis, REITs reacted dynamically to the global situation at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this effect has been short-lived so far, and the largest drops in rates of return were observed in the first stage of the pandemic, i.e. in March and April 2020. The long-term effects of COVID-19, on the other hand, relate to the verification of the perception of individual real estate market segments, reconstruction of investment strategies and the search for new directions for building property portfolios, which can be verified when the pandemic is over. Originality and value: The study is an attempt to join the international discussion devoted to the assessment of the impact of the pandemic on global economies, including real estate markets, regarding the functioning of REITs as one of the most common forms of indirect real estate investment in the world.

Introduction/background: The residential property market is in a state of constant flux, largely a consequence of the intensive development and increasing availability of modern technologies termed PropTech. Relatively resistant to change, the real estate sector is undoubtedly undergoing a technological revolution. PropTech affects the activities of entities that create both supply and services on the real estate market. In addition, it also affects the customer. Aim of the paper: The aim of the paper is to identify the attitudes and preferences of primary apartments buyers regarding the use of modern technology (PropTech) by developers in the local residential property market. Materials and methods: The tool was Internet survey questionnaire. Originally, a face-to-face study was planned, but due to the constraints of the pandemic, it was not possible to reach respondents directly. In some cases, the “snowball” method was also used to increase the sample size. Results and conclusions: The preference surveys that have been conducted and presented are a contribution to further research work in this area. The results obtained show that the most popular solutions are those that are relatively easy to achieve and do not pose a great challenge to developers, for example. In contrast, those related to digital tools came in last place. Further questions also arise. To what extent, in a situation of relatively expensive housing, are buyers willing to pay for modern solutions. Environmental awareness, such as the use of solar energy or rainwater harvesting, may be at odds with the purchasing capacity of households. To what extent can buyers trust modern technologies without worrying about, for example, lack of energy to use appliances. These and probably other questions require further research in this area.

Introduction/background: The implementation of modern technologies in the real estate market is a phenomenon that has been observed for several years in global markets. The emergence of solutions favouring the digitalisation of the relatively change-resistant real estate sector is a response to the changing needs and preferences of customers in this market. Taking up the topic within the framework of PropTech in the local real estate market aims to contribute to the discussion in this area and to identify opportunities for the uptake of new technologies in Polish conditions. The area of real estate development activity in the residential market with regard to the use of modern technologies in the business was selected for analysis. Aim of the paper: The main aim of the paper is to analyse to what extent developers are aware of and interested in modern technologies. The 3 following goals were adopted: G1: assessment of the developers' state of knowledge in the field of modern technologies (PropTech); G2: identifying areas that, in the opinion of developers, have the greatest potential for implementing modern technologies; G3: perspectives for the use of modern technologies in the studied areas. Materials and methods: In order to achieve the intended goals, a survey questionnaire was carried out among developers on the real estate market in Poznań. Results and conclusions: As the survey shows, the development of Proptech for developers is still at a rather early stage. Despite the fact that, in their opinion, customers already have expectations in terms of modern technologies and pay attention to environmentally friendly solutions, they use the available solutions only to a small extent, as if forgetting (or not knowing) that the possibilities for implementing modern technologies are much greater and cover many more areas.

The real estate market is considered to be one of the least technologically advanced markets. Despite this, attempts are made to implement modern technologies referred to as Prop-Tech. The aim of this study is to assess customers’ expectations in the use of modern technologies in the process of buying and subsequent use of flats on the local primary residential real estate market. The study has been conducted in order to achieve the above-mentioned goal. A survey questionnaire was used as a research tool. The subjects were young people (up to 35 years of age) from the area of Poznań (non-random sample selection, sample size n=220). Based on the research, it can be concluded that there is a large group of customers that are aware of modern technologies and claim that they would be willing to pay more for the technologies they choose. Probably this number could be increased if the buyers were pointed to specific savings from investing in modern solutions. The adopted spatial scope (city of Poznań) results from the specificity of this research area. And although there are no substantive grounds for major generalisations, taking into account the size of the market in Poznań, it can be assumed that in other large Polish cities customer preferences are similar.

In the global financial markets companies are facing the growing role of institutional investors and higher activity of individual investors. Interim reports are the primary source of information about the activities of listed companies and their performance results. This paper will discuss the nature and scope of information presented in the quarterly reports, semi-annual and annual reports. New trends in periodic reporting by public companies arising from investors' expectations will be presented. Interim reports should not only present reliable financial data, but also non-financial information that will enable investors to perform a full analysis of current activities and potential of a given company.

The research goal is to present the results of research on corporate governance mechanisms used by supervisory boards when assessing the management of the activities of Polish housing cooperatives. To achieve this goal, the essence of corporate governance and its mechanisms in relation to housing cooperatives were analyzed, followed by empirical research whose respondents were members of supervisory board. The research object is a housing cooperative operating in Poland. Achievement of the objectives of the article was possible due to an in-depth study of domestic and foreign literature related to the topic of the work, as well as the application of the survey method.
Celem badawczym jest przedstawienie wyników badań nad mechanizmami nadzoru korporacyjnego stosowanymi przez rady nadzorcze przy ocenie zarządzania działalnością polskich spółdzielni mieszkaniowych. Dla realizacji tego celu analizie poddana została istota nadzoru korporacyjnego, jego mechanizmów w odniesieniu do spółdzielni mieszkaniowych, a następnie zostały przeprowadzone badania empiryczne, których respondentami byli członkowie rady nadzorczej. Obiektem badań jest spółdzielnia mieszkaniowa działająca w Polsce. Osiągnięcie założeń celu artykułu możliwe było dzięki przeprowadzeniu pogłębionych studiów literatury krajowej i zagranicznej związanej z tematyką prac, a także metodzie ankietowej.

The aim of the article is to present the issues related to the work of auditors in the area of cost analysis as an element of the financial statement in an enterprise. Empirical studies were conducted on the basis of the financial statements published by selected companies listed on the NewConnect market in 2017, as well as the audit reports issued for those companies. The partial goals include the assessment of the percentage of certain types of opinions issued by independent auditors reviewing the financial statements of selected companies listed, as well as the identification of the areas regarding costs of activities, which are most often described in the explanations or qualified opinions in the research sample under analysis. The undertaken research are preliminary and in the future should be carried out on a larger research sample divided into industry sectors

Objective: The paper aims to identify the factors that determine accounting students’ engagement in online-only learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology/research approach: The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) is used as a theoretical lens. Survey responses provided by accounting students participating in online-only courses at Polish universities between May and June 2020 are analyzed, and regression analysis is employed to verify the research hypotheses. Findings: According to our findings, student effort expectancy and performance signifi-cantly and positively influence their engagement in online-only learning. Age is also significant for student engagement, with younger students being more engaged in online-only learning than older ones. Originality/value: The study contributes to the literature on distance learning as it investigates a relatively unexplored group of students in an unprecedented situation. The paper also proposes new measures to capture UTAUT factors. The findings are also relevant for practice. It seems that after the pandemic, online learning will continue to be used and ensuring student engagement will become more relevant than technological issues, already mastered by both sides of the educational process.
