Opis:
This article concerns the use of an integrated RFID system with a mobile robot for the navigation and mapping of closed spaces. The architecture of a prototype mobile robot equipped with a set of RFID readers that performs the mapping functions is described. Laboratory tests of the robot have been carried out using a test stand equipped with a grid of appropriately programmed RFID transponders. A simulation model of the effectiveness of transponder reading by the robot has been prepared. The conclusions from measurements and tests are discussed, and methods for improving the solution are proposed.

Opis:
The retreat house analysis is based on a model made in Purmo -Audytor OZC 6.7 basic. In this program, the design heat loss and seasonal heat demand were calculated. These results provide a starting point for further analysis aimed at improving the energy aspect of the building and selection of heat sources. In addition, exergy losses have also been calculated. To make the analyse more specific seven variants of modernization were addedsuch as increasing thickness of insulation of walls, windows and doors replacement, increasing thickness of insulation of the roof and finally whole modernization of the building. There are also specified types of heating for the source heats -floor heating and radiator heating. After calculating the heat losses heat sources were chosensuch as heat pump-13 kW, 40 kW and 52 kW, gaseous furnace and solar collectors. Heat sources are selected taking into account the environmental aspect and compared due to the investment and operating costs. The sources of heat are also compared in different modernization variants. It is worth adding the heat pump 13 kW cooperates with gaseous furnace to meet the energetic demand of the retreat house and it is the most profitable choice for the radiator heating considering exploitation aspect. There are ten evacuated tube solar collectors -five are situated on the west part of roof and the rest is on the east part of roof. They are only analysed to show the amount of heat demand that they can cover. In order to complete the analysis of operating costs, the comparison also applies to various types of heating -floor and radiator. It is calculated the best variant of modernization can decrease the demand for heat up to 55 GJ per year. Assuming the heat pump’s COP is 4 and one kWh of electric energy cost 0,55 PLN about 2000 PLN can be saved per year. The best modernization combination can save about 8100 PLN per year considering exploitation aspect. The most expensive investment solutions are not always cheap in operation. The most expensive in terms of investment are 40 kW and 52 kW heat pumps. They bring operational benefits only in the underfloor heating option. In the radiator heating option, the most advantageous in terms of operation is a 13 kW heat pump cooperating with a gas boiler. However, the cheapest investment that meets the energy requirements of the building is the installation of a gaseous furnace.

Opis:
We discuss the empirical importance of long term cyclical effects in the volatility of financial returns. Following Amado and Terasvirta (2009), Cizek and Spokoiny (2009) and others, we consider a general conditionally heteroscedastic process with stationarity property distorted by a deterministic function that governs the possible time variability of the unconditional variance. The function proposed in this paper can be interpreted as a finite Fourier approximation of an Almost Periodic (AP) function as defined by Corduneanu (1989). The resulting model has a particular form of a GARCH process with time varying parameters, intensively discussed in the recent literature. In the empirical analyses we apply a generalisation of the Bayesian AR(1)-GARCH model for daily returns of S&P500, covering the period of sixty years of US postwar economy, including the recently observed global financial crisis. The results of a formal Bayesian model comparison clearly indicate the existence of significant long term cyclical patterns in volatility with a strongly supported periodic component corresponding to a 14 year cycle. Our main results are invariant with respect to the changes of the conditional distribution from Normal to Student-t and to the changes of the volatility equation from regular GARCH to the Asymmetric GARCH.

Opis:
Tourmaline occurring in hornfelses from the eastern envelope of the Karkonosze Granite (Western Sudetes, Poland) reveals at least two stages of crystallization expressed by its complex zoning. The cores and mantles of the crystals probably grew during prograde metamorphism under intermediate pressure-temperature conditions reflected by increasing Mg, Ti and Ca. Outermost rims show enrichment in Al and Ca, indicating growth during contact metamorphism in the presence of an Al-saturating phase. The Ti-content in biotite indicates that the temperature of the contact metamorphic event did not exceed 650ºC. The presence of andalusite and the lack of garnet and cordierite also indicates pressure conditions of ~ 2-3 kbar, typical of the C1 bathozone of Carmichael (1978) or the P1 bathozone of Pattison (2001).

Opis:
The main objective of the paper is to investigate properties of business cycles in the Polish economy before and after the recent crisis. The essential issue addressed here is whether there is statistical evidence that the recent crisis has affected the properties of the business cycle fluctuations. In order to improve robustness of the results, we do not confine ourselves to any single inference method, but instead use different groups of statistical tools, including non-parametric methods based on subsampling and parametric Bayesian methods. We examine monthly series of industrial production (from January 1995 till December 2014), considering the properties of cycles in growth rates and in deviations from long-run trend. Empirical analysis is based on the sequence of expanding-window samples, with the shortest sample ending in December 2006. The main finding is that the two frequencies driving business cycle fluctuations in Poland correspond to cycles with periods of 2 and 3.5 years, and (perhaps surprisingly) the result holds both before and after the crisis. We, therefore, find no support for the claim that features (in particular frequencies) that characterize Polish business cycle fluctuations have changed after the recent crisis. The conclusion is unanimously supported by various statistical methods that are used in the paper, however, it is based on relatively short series of the data currently available.

Opis:
The intensification of agricultural production is one of the factors determining economic development. Increasing mechanisation and use of fertilisers in agriculture lead to higher yields, but at the same time they can pose a threat to the environment. The overuse of chemical fertilisers contributes to increased concentration of nutrients in agricultural runoff. One of such areas is the Szreniawa River catchment, the study area located in the southern part of Poland. In this catchment, intensive mostly mechanical ploughing is applied in, for instance, vegetable production. The area has loess soils, which with intensive ploughing are susceptible to erosion. The study aims to determine changes in the quality of flowing waters against the background of agricultural production and land-use characteristics. Surface waters were classified as class II and occurred at all analysed points. The highest concentrations of N-NO3 , N-NH 4 and P-PO 4 were found at a point in the middle of the catchment (lower part of research area). There, the lowest concentrations were recorded in 2018, which was related to the amount of precipitation during the growing season. On the other hand, the volume of plant and animal production closely correlated with the quality of surface water in the area. This was also confirmed by the land use structure. In conclusion, intensive agricultural production, mainly in terms of plough tillage causes significant hazards associated with soil erosion especially on agriculturally sensitive soils, although it provides good yields.
