Celem pracy była analiza przestrzeni roboczej układu więzadeł stawu skokowego górnego. Na potrzeby badań przygotowano trójwymiarowy model wieloczłonowy górnego stawu skokowego, który zawierał dwa ciała sztywne: nieruchomą goleń i kości stopy. Ciała te połączone były ze sobą układem trójwymiarowych cięgien, które zastępowały więzadła. Przestrzeń roboczą stawu wyznaczono poprzez iteracyjną zmianę położenia kości stopy. Na podstawie otrzymanych wyników stwierdzono, że przestrzeń robocza górnego stawu skokowego zdeterminowana jest głównie przez geometrię więzadeł położonych po jego bocznej stronie.
The aim of this study was to analyze the workspace of a ligament system of an upper ankle joint. To facilitate this research, a spatial multibody model of an upper ankle joint was prepared. The model contained two rigid bodies corresponding to the lower leg and the foot. The bodies were connected by a system of three-dimensional cables representing the ligaments. The workspace was computed by iteratively modifying the location of the foot. The obtained results suggest that the workspace of the upper ankle joint is mostly determined by the geometry of the ligaments located on its medial side.

Opis:
Arabidopsis thaliana AtNUDT7 Nudix pyrophosphatase hydrolyzes NADH and ADP-ribose in vitro and is an important factor in the cellular response to diverse biotic and abiotic stresses. Several studies have shown that loss-of-function Atnudt7 mutant plants display many profound phenotypes. However the molecular mechanism of AtNUDT7 function remains elusive. To gain a better understanding of this hydrolase cellular role, proteins interacting with AtNUDT7 were identified. Using AtNUDT7 as a bait in an in vitro binding assay of proteins derived from cultured Arabidopsis cell extracts we identified the regulatory protein RACK1A as an AtNUDT7-interactor. RACK1A-AtNUDT7 interaction was confirmed in a yeast two-hybrid assay and in a pull-down assay and in Bimolecular Fluorescence Complementation (BiFC) analysis of the proteins transiently expressed in Arabidopsis protoplasts. However, no influence of RACK1A on AtNUDT7 hydrolase catalytic activity was observed. In vitro interaction between RACK1A and the AGG1 and AGG2 gamma subunits of the signal transducing heterotrimeric G protein was also detected and confirmed in BiFC assays. Moreover, association between AtNUDT7 and both AGG1 and AGG2 subunits was observed in Arabidopsis protoplasts, although binding of these proteins could not be detected in vitro. Based on the observed interactions we conclude that the AtNUDT7 Nudix hydrolase forms complexes in vitro and in vivo with regulatory proteins involved in signal transduction. Moreover, we provide the initial evidence that both signal transducing gamma subunits bind the regulatory RACK1A protein.

Nelson’s syndrome is a rare condition of enlarging pituitary mass lesion producing ACTH that can develop after total bilateral adrenalectomy (TBA) in patients with Cushing’s disease. It is characterized by hyperpigmentation of the skin and mucous membranes and elevated plasma levels of ACTH. In this clinical review, the diagnosis and treatment strategies of patients with Nelson’s syndrome including surgery, radiation, and pharmacotherapy are presented.

Cushing’s disease is a rare endocrine disorder caused by ACTH-secreting pituitary adenoma. The treatment of choice is a transsphenoidal surgery performed by an experienced neurosurgeon. However, in some patients adjuvant treatment is required due to ineffective surgery or disease recurrence. This article discusses new aspects of pharmacological treatment of ACTH-dependent hypercortisolism in light of a recent publication reporting the efficacy and safety of once a month pasireotide LAR injections in Cushing’s disease.

Introduction/background: The paper builds on the organization’s stakeholders theory by adding a new relation. It stipulates that separate groups of stakeholders can co-operate and influence each other in beneficial terms, which is important especially to local leaders, corporations and academic specialists in the CSR field. Aim of the paper: The purpose is to contribute to humanistic management by focusing on how corporations become more human oriented and present on the social arena. The aim of this research is to build on the organization’s stakeholders theory, especially within the scope of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Materials and methods: The paper combines a theoretical aspect, in the form of the stakeholders theory, and a research one, in the form of a case study. The subject of the study is CSR action taken by Santander Consumer Bank in Poland during recent years in the form of the Santander Orchestra. The objectives are achieved by applying the method of a case study. Results and conclusions: The stakeholders theory is further developed to include interaction between different groups of stakeholders. It demonstrates how those groups benefit each other and how their interaction can be beneficial for the society. Ways to improve CSR activities are identified. The study includes a thorough analysis of the Santander Orchestra. It explains and points to best practices. The research can be treated as a set of guidelines for other corporations to use when creating their CSR activities. This research can help to make the public understand that corporations can have a great and positive impact on the social arena

Human disturbance is an important factor in forming vegetation. According to our hypothesis, anthropogenic activity and changes in the species composition of grass communities occur in the process of co-evolution. Understanding co-evolution, to better predict future changes in the entire ecosystem. Five grassland sites were selected with different methods of use and hence different anthropogenic disturbance regimes. The results show that the composition of grassland communities responds to the methods of their use. The needs and demands of our civilization are changing. Humans co-create plant communities the preservation of which depends on their use by humans.

Postępująca globalizacja nasila konkurencję między uczestnikami rynku farmaceutycznego. Wymusza to zintensyfikowanie działań marketingowych w celu budowania przewagi konkurencyjnej. Ich podstawowym narzędziem jest reklama. Celem opracowania jest identyfikacja opinii konsumentów odnośnie do reklamy leków OTC i jej wpływu na ich decyzje zakupowe. W 2013 roku przebadano za pomocą kwestionariusza ankiety 510 dorosłych osób. Wyniki opracowano statystycznie. Co 5 konsument ocenia reklamę jako nierzetelne źródło informacji. Głównym źródłem informacji o lekach są lekarze lub farmaceuci. Czynnikiem decydującym o zakupie leków jest przekonanie o jego skuteczności. Tradycyjne formy reklamy leków OTC w nieznacznym stopniu wpływają na decyzje zakupowe konsumentów dlatego warto poszukiwać innych metod promocji. Społeczeństwo nie przyjmuje bezkrytycznie przekazów reklamowych pozostawiając pole komunikatom promocyjnym opartym na rzetelnej informacji. Artykuł ma charakter badawczy.
Развивающаяся глобализация усилила конкуренцию между участниками фармацевтического рынка. Это вынуждает интенсифицирование маркетинговых действий для формирования конкурентного преимущества. Их основным инструментом является реклама. Цель разработки – выявить мнения потребителей о рекламе лекарств, отпускаемых без рецепта врача, и ее влиянии на их решения о покупке. В 2013 г. обследовали с помощью анкеты 510 взрослых лиц. Результаты обработали статистически. Каждый пятый потребитель оценивает рекламу в качестве недобросовестного источника информации. Основной источник информации о медикаментах – врачи или фармацевты. Фактором, решающим покупку лекарств, является убеждение об их действенности. Традиционные формы рекламы лекарств, отпускаемых без рецепта, в незначительной степени влияют на решения потребителей о покупке, следовательно, стóит вести поиск других методов поощрения. Общество не принимает бескритично рекламных объявлений, оставляя место для сообщений по продвижению, основанных на добросовестной информации. Статья имеет исследовательский характер.
The progressing globalisation is reinforcing competition among the pharmaceutical market’s participants. This forces intensification of marketing activities for the purpose of building competitive advantage. Their basic tool is advertising. An aim of the article is to identify consumers’ opinions on advertising of OTC medicines and its impact on their purchasing decisions. In 2013, there were surveyed, with the use of questionnaire, 510 adults. Findings were worked out statistically. Every fifth consumer assesses advertising as an unreliable source of information. The main source of information of medicines is doctors or pharmacists. The factor deciding the issue of medicine purchase is conviction of its efficacy. The traditional forms of advertising OTC medicines slightly affect consumers’ purchasing decisions; therefore, it is worthwhile to look for other methods of promotion. The society does not accept indiscriminately advertising messages leaving the room for promotional messages based on reliable information. The article is of the research nature.

The work under the conditions of the micropark experience analyzes the impact related to the method of mineral wool application and various reclamation methods on the physicochemical changes in the soilless track devastated by mining sulfur. Our results showed that the tested waste, as well as its manner of application to the soil, had a positive influence on the physical and chemical properties of degraded soils. The most beneficial impact was recorded under the conditions of the mineral wool association in the top layer of the soil (0–25 cm) of sewage sludge.

Pancreatic tumour imaging poses one of the greatest challenges in gastroenteropancreatic tumour diagnostics. Though much less common than adenocarcinomas, tumours deriving from pancreatic islets are the second most common group of pancreatic tumours. The manifestations and growth rate of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) differ from adenocarcinomas; thus, these tumour types require different diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. With its high sensitivity and specificity, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) seems to be indispensable in pancreatic NET diagnostics. A negative EUS practically excludes the presence of a pancreatic tumour, while in definitive tumour cases, EUS is helpful in tumour staging, and in determining its precise anatomical location. One especially important benefit of EUS is the option of performing a biopsy for subsequent cytological and histopathological examinations. The use of contrast and additional computerized image analysis increases the diagnostic accuracy of EUS. This article presents current views on the use of EUS in pancreatic tumour diagnostics, with a particular emphasis on diagnosing NETs.
