    Opis:
    Stanisław Tabaczyński, a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, passed away in November 2020. He was one of the most influential theoreticians of Stanisław Tabaczyński – pro memoria 183 archaeology in post-War Poland. He developed an original concept of the archaeo- logical process at the junction of the Annales school, the Poznań methodological school, and the inspirations from the Italian academic milieu cantered around the Polish-Italian Interdisciplinary Working Taskforce of Applied Sciences in Archaeology and Protection of Cultural Patrimony. Its main components com- prised long-term processes, ethnogenetic processes, and the polisemantisation of culture. He understood archaeology as the anthropology of the prehistoric past, outstretched between anthropology and history. He participated and ran numerous excavation projects in Poland and abroad. These comprised excavation campaigns carried out in the large-scale Millennium Research project in Poznań, Wrocław, Biskupin, Kołobrzeg, Grody Czerwieńskie and Nakło nad Notecią. His major achievement was the excavation of the early Medieval Sandomierz. He discovered a glassmaking workshop of the 7–8 th centuries on Torcello Island in the Venice Lagoon and participated in numerous field projects in Italy, France, and Algieria. He is the author of numerous books and articles. Among his most important publications are three-volume Theory and Practice of Archaeological Research, Przeszłość społeczna [The Social Past], Neolit środkowoeuropejski.     The paper aims at presenting research activities of prehistoric archaeologists from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań in the Eastern Mediterranean. In particular, it focuses on presenting objectives and results of ongoing works at the Neolithic settlement in Çatalhöyük in Central Anatolia. The Polish project, which is an intrinsic element of the Çatalhöyük Research Project, began in 2001 in cooperation with the Polish Academy of Sciences and later University of Gdańsk. It continues currently as the Adam Mickiewicz University project. The works involve excavating the uppermost levels of the settlement occupation dated back to the end of the seventh millennium cal. BC, which have not been investigated to date. The discovered architecture and material objects are unique in nature indicating remarkable transformations in all aspects of the long-lasted Neolithic tradition. The results have been published and presented in numerous national and international settings. They also led to establishing a close collaboration with numerous leading centres of the Anatolian and Near Eastern Neolithic studies. The project at Çatalhöyük comprises an active participation of students leading to completion of numerous Bachelor, Master and Doctorate dissertations.

    The article explores the issues connected to the social role of archaeology and its meaning among the public. In the paper we analyze the European survey conducted by Harris Interactive in 9 European countries (Poland, Greece, Italy, France, Sweden, UK, Holland, Germany, Spain) with a special account on its results in Poland. The results of the survey present that archaeology is a scientific discipline of special interest among Poles and that they appreciate and need a contact and cooperation with archaeologists which would enable society to understand more the importance of our own past.

    The article presents a method of a photovoltaic system power selecting for proper electric vehicle. At the beginning, the characteristics of the electric vehicle itself and its traction batteries were made in order to determine the method of its charging. In the presented studies, measurement data from the operation of real photovoltaic systems was recorded and processed. The algorithm used includes examining the energy consumption profile of the owner's residential building. The combined demand for electricity of the electric vehicle and the building made it possible to determine the planned photovoltaic system. The authors presented three possibilities of its location. It can be installed on the roof of the building, on the ground next to the building or on the carport under which an electric vehicle can be parked. Finally, the Metalog family of probability distributions was used to analytically validate the power choice of the photovoltaic system. The authors have developed an algorithm using human and artificial intelligence that helps to properly select the power of the photovoltaic system for the vehicle.
