The paper presents Bayesian Networks (BNs) in the context of methodological requirements for building knowledge representation systems in the domain of reliability engineering. BNs, by their nature, are especially useful as a formal and computable language for modeling stochastic and epistemic uncertainty intrinsically present in conceptualization and reasoning about reliability.
W artykule przedstawiono sieci bayesowskie (BNs) w kontekście wymogów metodologicznych do budowy systemów reprezentacji wiedzy w dziedzinie inżynierii niezawodności. Ze swej natury, sieci bayesowskie, są szczególnie przydatne jako formalny i obliczalny język do modelowania niepewności stochastycznej i epistemicznej, Takie rodzaje niepewności są istotną cechą konceptualizacji i rozumowania o niezawodność.

The aim of this study is to compare the corrosion resistance of X37CrMoV5-l tool steel after nanostructurization and after a conventional heat treatment. The nanostructuring treatment consisted of austempering at 300°C, which produced a microstructure composed of nanometric carbide-free bainite separated by nanometric layers of retained austenite. The retained austenite occurred also in form of blocks which partially undergo martensitic transformation during final cooling. For comparison, a series of steel samples were subjected to a standard quenching and high tempering treatment, which produced a microstructure of tempered martensite. The obtained results showed that the corrosion resistance of steel after both variants of heat treatment is similar. The results indicate that the nanocrystalline structure with high density of intercrystalline boundaries do not deteriorate the corrosion resistance of steel, which depends to a greater extent on its phase composition.

W pracy przedstawiono podstawowe założenia metodyczne związane z budową formalnych systemów reprezentacji wiedzy. Omówiono sieci probabilistyczne, które są szczególnie przydatnym systemem reprezentacji wiedzy w przypadku, gdy trzeba w sposób jawny zakodować czynnik niepewności i rozumowania w kategoriach niedeterministycznych związków przyczynowo-skutkowych. Sprecyzowano zasady budowy modelu oraz omówiono metody wnioskowania specyficzne dla sieci bayesowskich.
The paper presents Bayesian Networks (BN) technology in the context of methodological requirements for building knowledge representation systems in the domain of agricultural engineering. BN, by their nature, are especially useful for modeling uncertain domains like agricultural production and food chains management.

The study presents the results of investigations of modeling the usable properties of implant surfaces made of Ti6Al7Nb alloy, using the example of a dynamic hip screw (DHS) applied in surgical treatment of intertrochanteric femoral neck fractures. Numerical simulation has been performed for the model load of femoral fixation with DHS screw. The load simulation results provided the basis to select mechanical properties of the fixator elements and to define those fixation areas which are mostly susceptible to development of corrosion. The surfaces of Ti6Al7Nb alloy were ground, vibro-abrasive machined, mechanically polished, sandblasted, anode oxidized at different voltage values and steam sterilized. Results of surface topography evaluation, resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion as well as degradation kinetics of the outer layer were presented. Usability of the formed passive layer in clinical applications was evaluated through wear and corrosion tests of the femoral fixation model. The test results proved usefulness of the proposed surface modification methods for clinical application of different size and shape implants.

The aim of our study was to investigate the presence and quantitative contents of lignans in the tissues of Taxus ×media. The presence of the lignans: pinoresinol, matairesinol and secoisolariciresinol was assessed in needles, shoots cultures and suspension culture. Pinoresinol was the only lignan found in the tissue of T. ×media. The total pinoresinol content in the needles and in the shoots was 1.24 mg/g dry weight (dw) and 0.69 mg/g dw, respectively. Most of the pinoresinol identified was appeared glycosidically bound. In needles, the amount of glycosidically bound pinoresinol (0.81 mg/g dw) was about twice as high as that of free pinoresinol (0.43 mg/g dw). The content of free and glycosidically bound pinoresinol showed the level of 0.18 mg/g dw and 0.51 mg/g dw, respectively in the in vitro shoot cultures. In the cell culture, no pinoresinol was found.

Opis:
The paper presents influence of mechanical surface damage on corrosion resistance of plates made of Cr-Ni-Mo stainless steel, used in funnel chest treatment. The surface of the steel was electrochemically polished and fitted. The surface damage is induced in the given deformation regions and is a potential reason of corrosion. The corrosion tests were realised by recording of anodic polarization curves with the use of the potentio-dynamic method. The VoltaLab® PGP 201 system for electrochemical tests was applied. Additionally, the tests showed that the structure of the steel the plates were made of, met the PN-ISO 5832-1 standard. On the basis of the obtained results it can be stated that that stainless steel can be applied in funnel chest treatment.

W artykule przedstawiono nową koncepcję systemu wiedzy w zakresie eksploatacji. Koncepcja ta zakłada, że system wiedzy będzie umożliwiał użytkownikowi wprowadzanie i uaktualnianie danych z historii eksploatacyjnej obiektu.
Small systems of knowledge, as far as the use of farm machines is concerned, should be a free supplement to machines which are being sold. The higher the user's knowledge the better possibility to transform the machine operating system into the production profit. That is why also a producer should be interested in the problems connected with designing such system of knowledge. The knowledge included into this system is supposed to enable the user to learn the basis of machine operation and give him information and advice in the situation when he needs it. It is assumed in the suggested idea that the system of knowledge consits of two modules. The basic module is delivered by a producer and it cannot be changed a user. It includes this information about the machine which is constant and does not change in use i.e. information concerning structure of the machine, principles of service and maintanance etc. Information is recorded in a form of the object data base. The other module of the system consits of data basis brought up to date by the user during the machine operation. This data base makes it possible to collect the data about the work accomplished, born costs, used materials, services and repairs which have been carried out. Such attitude causes the system to be a system of knowledge about a particular object used in particular conditions by a user of particular qualifications.
