Opis:
High pressure apparatus is widely used in industries, the design of them depends on stress distributions in their walls. Most of high pressure apparatuses are made in form of cylinders. To raise load-bearing capacity and extend operation life for high pressure apparatus, the autofrettage technology is often used. To design autofrettaged high pressure apparatus, it is necessary to study characteristics of stresses in the wall of thick-wall cylinders, including residual stresses and total stresses, etc. In this study, through investigating the characteristics of stresses of cylinders subjected to internal pressure according to the maximum distortion strain energy theory, a set of simplified equations for residual stresses and total stresses are obtained, the safe and optimum load-bearing conditions for autofrettaged cylinders are found out, which are the basis for design of autofrettaged high pressure apparatus.

Opis:
Analytical transmission electron microscopy has been applied to characterize the microstructure, phase and chemical composition of the Ag–Al wear track throughout its thickness down to the atomic level. Microscopy findings have been correlated with Ag–Al film tribological properties to understand the effect of the hexagonal solid solution phase on the tribological properties of this film. Ag–25Al (at.%) films have been produced by simultaneous magnetron sputtering of components in Ar atmosphere under 1 mTorr pressure and subjected to pin-on-disc tribological tests. It has been shown that hcp phase with (001) planes aligned parallel to the film surface dominates both in as-deposited and in tribofilm areas of the Ag–Al alloy film. Possible mechanisms of reduced friction in easily oxidized Ag–Al system are discussed and the mechanism based on readily shearing basal planes of the hcp phase is considered as the most probable one.

Opis:
In order to investigate whether PCV2b can be transmitted across the placenta in sows thereby causing vertical infection of fetuses, six sows in 75 day of pregnancy were either intramuscularly inoculated with a PCV2b culture supernatant (n = 4) or mock infected with cell culture supernatant (n = 2). At parturition, 3 newborn piglets from each litter were randomly selected and euthanatized prior to suckling. Samples of the mesenteric lymph nodes, spleens, kidneys, hearts and lungs were collected for PCR, histopathological and immunohistochemical assays. The results showed that the newborn piglets from PCV2b-infected sows had histopathological lesions in the tested tissues. Moreover, PCV2b antigen and DNA were detected as well. These findings therefore suggested that porcine circovirus type 2b can be transmitted across the placenta of sows, thereby leading to PCV2b vertical infection of the fetuses.
