Opis:
In microgrid distribution generation (DG) sources are integrated parallelly for the economic and efficient operation of a power system. This integration of DG sources may cause many challenges in a microgrid. The islanding condition is termed a condition in which the DG sources in the microgrid continue to power the load even when the grid is cut off. This islanding situation must be identified as soon as possible to avoid the collapse of the microgrid. This work presents the hybrid islanding detection technique. This technique consists of both active and parametric estimation methods such as slip mode shift frequency (SMS) and exact signal parametric rotational invariance technique (ESPRIT), respectively. This technique will easily distinguish between islanding and non-islanding events even under very low power perturbations. The proposed method also has no power quality impact. The proposed method is tested with UL741 standard test conditions.

Opis:
The Fourier transform infrared absorption spectra and $\text{}^{57}Fe$ Mössbauer spectra have been recorded at room temperature for the recently excavated archaeological pottery sherds. FTIR spectroscopy is used to estimate the lower limit of firing temperature and firing nature of the pottery sherds, and it is confirmed by the results of the Mössbauer technique results. The results show that the $\text{}^{57}Fe$ Mössbauer and FTIR spectra of few pottery sherds of Perumalpattu and Theriruveli are nearly identical, indicating that they may belong to the same origin. $\text{}^{57}Fe$ Mössbauer spectra of black coloured sherds show the presence of $Fe^{2+}$ ions which confirm the relation between the black colour in pottery and the existence of non-magnetic FeO compound, resulting from the reducing atmospheric condition during firing. FTIR results of reddish pot sherds show the presence of significant amount of $Fe_2O_3//α-Fe_2O_3$, which confirms again the relationship between the state and form of iron present in the pottery and its colour.

Opis:
The present study was undertaken to identify the superior cabbage genotype and to examine their physical yield performance among the four cultivated genotypes namely Namdhari Seeds 183, Namdhari Seeds 160, Namdhari Seeds 35 and Tropical Sun Plus, grown in plains and higher altitude of Kerala. Study revealed that significant differences were observed in yield levels of cabbage and it was ranged from 22.6 – 29.3 kg /16m2 in hills and 1.27 – 22.06 kg /16m2 in plains. Among the cabbage genotypes, NS 183 was found to be the best for hilly region in terms of higher head yield (22.06 Kg /16m2), head weight (729.6 g), head height (11.1 cm) and early maturity. Similarly, Tropical Sun Plus exhibited better performance in plains in terms of higher head yield (22.06 Kg /16m2), head weight (729.6 g) and head height (11.1 cm). The individual genotype which exhibited the superior performance in hills and plains were selected and compared for the general biochemical characters like Moisture content, acidity, ascorbic acid, protein, phosphorus, calcium and potassium. Finally, the study found that, the genotype grown at hill (Tropical Sun Plus) was recorded a higher biochemical characters than genotype grown in plains (Tropical Sun plus). Similarly, hill grown genotype (NS 183) recorded a higher biochemical characters than the plains grown genotype (NS 183).

Opis:
The objective of this work is to characterize and evaluate the effect of incorporation of granite and marble rejects on the properties and microstructure development of three different clay materials used to fabricate brick materials in the brick industry. The raw materials are characterized with respect to their chemical composition by X-ray fluorescence, particle size distribution and mineralogical composition by X-ray diffraction and plasticity. Compositions have been prepared with additions of 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 wt% reject in three different clay material from Tamilnadu State, India, and fired at temperatures from 500 to 900°C in laboratory furnace. The behaviour of mixtures containing 80 wt% clay material + 20 wt% reject is discussed in detail. The technological properties of briquette specimens such as flexural rupture strength, water absorption, porosity and bulk density were determined. The microstructure of the fired briquette specimens were observed by scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry, Mössbauer spectroscopy. The results of the above studies show that incorporations of granite and marble rejects up to 50 wt% is potential to the industrial clay brick products, with no major sacrifice on the properties of the final product, anticipating no costly modifications in the industrial production line.
