Opis:
The present paper is concerned with the problem of scattering of the P-wave by two co- -planer finite rigid strips placed symmetrically in an infinitely long orthotropic strip. Using the Hilbert transform technique, the mixed boundary value problem has been reduced to the solution of dual integral equations which has finally been reduced to the solution of a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. Solving this integral equation numerically, stress intensity factors have been calculated at the inner and outer edges of the rigid strips, and the vertical displacement outside the strips has been calculated and plotted graphically to show the effect of material orthotropy.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is to localize the fugitive leaks from the above ground facilities of the existing system of Titas Gas (TG) after developing mathematical model for fugitive emission. Soap screening techniques and Gasurveyor 500 series instrument were used in this study for detecting potential leaks. Leaked gas was quantified using either Hi-Flow gas sampler or bagging measurements system. The results show that the respective potential gas leaking point of City Gate Station (CGS), commercial Regulating and Metering Station (RMS), industrial RMS, residential RMS and Town Bordering Station (TBS)/ District Regulating Station (DRS) are scrubber dump valve (average leak rate 217.00 L/min), insulating point (average leak rate 4.04 L/min), tube fitting connector (average leak rate 8.00 L/min), connector (average leak rate 1.55 L/min) and pressure relief valve (average leak rate 437.92 L/min). Fugitive methane emission can be reduced by stopping leaks of fittings or components having high KLeak  value.

Opis:
The thermally stable, insensitive, high explosive 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6- trinitrobenzene (TATB) is manufactured by amination of 1,3,5-trichloro-2,4,6- trinitrobenzene (TCTNB) in toluene with NH3 gas. It is an isothermal, single-feed, semi-batch, gas-liquid heterogeneous, reaction crystallization process. The amination process is discussed by applying the chemical engineering methodology of mass transfer and reactive crystallization processes based on Two-Film Mass- Transfer (TFMT) theory. Kinetic expressions have been developed to define the chemical reactions as well as the physical phenomena (mass transfer) associated with this process. A single expression has been derived to explain the dependence of the ammonia consumption rate on various process parameters. Subsequently, the influence of various process parameters on the product quality (particle size and chloride impurity content) has been studied on the laboratory scale. Finally, the process has been established in the pilot plant, with optimized process conditions, to realize TATB of desired particle size and chloride content. The effects of feeding excess ammonia, and the presence of mercaptans/hydrogen sulphide impurities in poor quality toluene on the formation of certain undesirable by-products in TATB, are also discussed.
