Opis:
Pollen morphology and pollen variability of Rubus gracilis were studied. A total of 260 grains from 13 natural Polish localities were examined. Important characteristics include: a stretched bridge; a visible pore area and endopores; ectocolpi arranged regularly, more or less evenly spaced or, more rarely, joining one another in the apocolpium, long (79.3% length of the polar axis) and narrow; exine sculpture striate, distinct; striae and muri of equal width, rather narrow; striae usually running parallel to the polar axis, sometimes forming semicircles in the apocolpium zone; with distinct perforations. The size, outline and shape turned out to be poor criteria when identifying the species. A statistical analysis of 10 quantitative grain characteristics showed their little variability. The highest variability was found to occur in two traits connected with d (the distance between the apices of two ectocolpi). Statistical studies revealed no differences among the grains from the individual localities, likely the result of apomixis.

Opis:
The activity of picoxystrobin and its mixtures with standard fungicides against isolates of eyespot cereal disease agents was estimated in laboratory in vitro tests. The tested Ramulispora herpotrichoides and R. acuformis isolates differed in response to carbendazim. Picoxystrobin at concentration from 0.05 to 50 mg/L not totally inhibited the mycelium growth of tested pathogens on PDA medium. But carbendazim sensitive R. herpotrichoides isolates were a little more susceptible to strobilurin derivate than carbendazim resistant R. herpotrichoides isolate and R. acuformis strains. The effect of picoxystrobin at concentration 0.5 mg/L as partner in mixture with standard fungicide at concentration 0.1 mg/L (carbendazim, prochloraz or cyprodinil) was assessed as the additive. It was relatively most noticeably in tests with R. acuformis and picoxystrobin plus cyprodinil mixture that was for mixture recommended as tank-mix or as manufacture product.

This paper describes, illustrates, and maps a new regional bramble species occurring in the Myśliborskie Lake District in NW Poland. It represents the series Mucronati, which until now has never been recorded in this part of Europe. Locally it is the common plant and usually can be found in pine plantation established on former farmland.

Opis:
Rubus occidentalis L., native to eastern North America, is recorded for the first time as naturalized in Poland. Its spontaneous occurrence in Europe has hitherto been mentioned only from several stands in the Czech Republic and from single localities in Slovakia and Russia. The increasing popularity of black raspberry cultivation and its ability to survive under different environmental conditions suggest that the number of instances of its appearances in semi-natural habitats will grow over time. At the moment, R.occidentalis can be considered as a locally established, non-invasive neophyte.

Opis:
The plant material was collected on 34 individuals growing in the Dendrological Garden of Poznań University of Life Sciences (52°25'32,95" N 16°53'39,83" E) and Botanical Garden of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (52°25'11,70" N 16°52'55,07" E). The species for this study originated from Europe, Asia Minor, central and eastern Asia and North America and included: Abies alba, Abies cephalonica, Abies cilicica, Abies equi−trojani, Abies sibirica, Abies koreana, Abies pinsapo, Abies ×insignis, Abies bornmulleriana, Abies homolepsis, Abies holophylla, Abies grandis, Abies concolor, Abies concolor var. violacea, Abies concolor var. lowiana, Abies nordmanniana, Abies ×arnoldiana, Abies nephrolepis and Abies balsamea. The aim of this study was to define the species haplotypes (the length of allele) on the basis of nad5−4 mitochondrial DNA marker detected by capillary electrophoresis. This marker has been suggested as an easy−to−use tool to distinguish species of the Abies genus and it could be species−specific. Seven different haplotypes were identified. The first one appears in the species from Europe, Asia and North America. The second one was detected in firs from Europe and Asia Minor. A. cephalonica and A. sibirica were identified by the third haplotype, which occurs also in A. alba from the Balkan region. The fourth haplotype is characteristic for species from Asia and North America. The fifth and sixth haplotypes were identified in A. pinsapo and A. numidica. The seventh haplotype was detected only in A. holophylla. Applied marker is a very useful for verification of fir species especially allopatric species, less for parapatric ones. This marker is more helpful to exclude the species than to precisely identify them.

Opis:
Rubus lindebergii P. J. Müll. (Rubus sect. Rubus, ser. Discolores), widely distributed in northwestern Europe, is recorded for the first time from northwestern Poland. Its locality is separated from the closest stands of this species in northern Germany by a distance of about 200 km. The species has been observed mainly in moderately fertile habitats of fresh mixed broadleaf forests, usually in fairly sunny places, along forest margins, by forest roads, in clearings, and in wayside thickets.

Opis:
In Poland black locust grows generally in parks, gardens and along roads and in forests as well. During dendrological inventories specialists often need information about age of a tree. Simple noninvasive methods utilize mainly relation between age and size of a tree. One of such methods is mathematical formula describing relation between tree's diameter (or circumference) and its age. The main objectives of the presented paper is to elaborate such formulae for trees growing either in forests stands or in an open space (single tree, trees alley or small groups). Relations between tree's age and circumference were analyzed on the background of measured trees growing in forests administrated by the State Forests National Forest Holding from a whole territory of Poland. The formulae describing relation between tree's age and circumference were developed based on 20,302 database records for trees growing in forest stands and 6267 records for trees growing in an open space. In both cases power functions showed the best matching (tab. 1) in 95% confidence interval and which lead to construction of the age tables (tab. 2 and 3). Both elaborated formulae were tested and checked out with four series of measurement data. Three control series (1 – ‘Siemianice', 2 – ‘WPN' and 3 – ‘Zielonka') show compatibility with analysed formulae, while the fourth one (4 – ‘Poznan') differed substantially. The probable reason of such situation lies in the fact that this series represented trees growing in urban conditions and having completely different growth rate.
