    Der virtuelle Raum wird in der Gegenwartsliteratur zu einem Ort des Erzählens. Am Beispiel des Debütromans Vor der Zunahme der Zeichen von Senthuran Varatharajah, einem deutschen Schriftsteller sri-lankischer Herkunft, wird erörtert, welche Art von Beziehungen, die in einer neuen Gemeinschaft aufgebaut werden können, die Protagonisten während ihrer Erzählungen zur Sprache bringen.
    Przestrzeń wirtualna staje się miejscem narracji w literaturze współczesnej. Na przykładzie debiutanckiej powieści Vor der Zunahme der Zeichen Senthurana Varatharajaha, niemieckiego pisarza z pochodzenia Tamila (urodzonego na Sri Lance) zostaje podjęta próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, jaki typ relacji we wspólnocie opisują bohaterowie w swoich narracjach.
    Virtual space is becoming a site of narrative in contemporary literature. Using the debut novel Vor der Zunahme der Zeichen by Senthuran Varatharajah, a German writer of Sri Lankan origin, as an example, we discuss what kind of relationships that can be built in a new community the protagonists bring up during their narratives.

    Autorka, badając omówienia krytycznoliterackie w prasie codziennej oraz branżowej, udowodniła, że powieści Ostatni świat i Morbus Kitahara austriackiego pisarza, laureata nagrody Unii Europejskiej Prix Aristeion, Christopha Ransmayra, nie weszły w dyskurs publiczny i słabo obecne są w polskim odbiorze czytelniczym. Zdaniem autorki ma to związek z „narracją historyczną”, historical fiction oraz z rozliczeniową problematyką powieści pisarza.
    The author, researching critical-literary discussions in daily and trade press, has proven that the novels, Die letzte Welt (The Last World)and Morbus Kitahara by Christoph Ransmayr, an Austrian writer, the winner of Prix Aristeion, a European Union award, did not come into a public discourse and are hardly noticeable in the Polish reading reception. According to the author, it is related to the historic narrative; and the issue of settlement of the writers novels.
    Die Autorin bewies, indem sie Kritik in Tageszeitungen und Literaturzeitschriften unter Analyse zog, dass Ransmayrs Romane Die letzte Welt und Morbus Kitahara, sowohl in dem öffentlichen Diskurs als auch in der ästhetischen Rezeption realer Leser nicht genug präsent sind. Diese Tatsache resultiert aus der „historischen Narration“ und der Problematik der Vergangenheitsbewältigung.

    The author undertakes an effort to answer the question whether the observable, contemporary migrant movements – excluding coerced migration – is a specific trend in order to be labeled contemporary wanderers i.e. digital nomads. Further, she speculates upon the question of identity in flux (the process of emancipation and settlement), and in her description, she employs the ideas of ‘foraging’ and ‘dispersal’. The presented deliberations lead to an inevitable new identity model of ‘world citizen’.
    Autorka podejmuje próbę odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy współcześnie obserwowalne ruchy migracyjne poza migracją „przymusową” nie stanowią swoistej mody na przyjęcie statusu współczesnego wędrowcy (cyfrowego nomady). W dalszej kolejności spekuluje nad kwestią tożsamości „w ruchu” (proces emancypacji, zakorzenienia) i w jej opisie posługuje się figurą „zbieractwa” i „rozproszenia”. Przedstawione rozważania pozwalają na konkluzję o nieuchronności nowego modelu „obywatela świata”.
    Die Autorin unternimmt den Versuch, eine Antwort auf die Frage zu finden, ob die derzeit zu beobachtenden Migrationsbewegungen mit Ausnahme der „Zwangsmigration“ eine gewisse Mode für die Annahme des Status eines modernen Wanderers (digitalen Nomaden) darstellen. Im Weiteren spekuliert sie über die Frage der Identität „in Bewegung“ (Emanzipationsprozess, Verwurzelung). In ihre  Beschreibung bedient sie sich der Figuren „Sammlertum“ und „Zerstreuung“. Diese Überlegungen lassen als Konklusion den Bedarfnach einem neuen Modell des „Weltbürgers“ zu.

    This article attempts to answer the question: why the Polish translation of a novel by Elfriede Jelinek The Children of the Dead (Die Kinder der Toten) did not stir any debate in the circles of literary criticism in Poland. While analysing the actions carried out as a part of the W.A.B.’s (a Warsaw-based publishing house) strategy to advance the publication process and to popularize Jelinek’s oeuvre, we may notice that they actually confirm the publisher’s endeavour to balance economic and symbolic capital (Bourdieu). It allows us to reconstruct the “marketing” aims of the translation in question. Yet both the cognitive and pragmatic facet of the Austrian Nobel Laureate’s Polish translation remain to be reconstructed by the readers.
    Im Beitrag wird auf die Frage eingegangen, warum der Roman Die Kinder der Toten von Elfriede Jelinek keine Debatte im literaturkritischen Feld in Polen auslöste. Die Analyse der Aktivitäten seitens des W.A.B.-Verlags für den Veröffentlichungsprozess und für Die Popularisierung Jelineks Schaffens in Polen, die auf das Balancieren des Warschauer Verlags zwischen dem ökonomischen und symbolischen Kapital (Bourdieu) hinweisen, lässt die Marketing-Ziele der literarischen Übersetzung aufdecken. Die kognitiven und pragmatischen aspekte des Übersetzten Romans bleiben für die polnischen Leser eine Herausforderung.
    L’auteure de l’article essaie de répondre à la question pourquoi le roman Enfants des morts (Die Kinder der Toten) d’Elfriede Jelinek n’a provoqué aucun débat dans la circulation critico-littéraire. L’analyse des actions — entreprises par la maison d’édition W.a.B. (Varsovie) pour le compte du processus éditorial et de la popularisation de jelinek — confirmant le balancement de la maison d’édition varsovienne entre le capital économique et symbolique (Bourrdieu) permet de reconstruire les objectifs « marketing » de la traduction. l’aspect cognitif et pragmatique de la traduction du roman de la nobélisée autrichienne se situe toujours dans le domaine d’une reconstruction éventuelle effectuée par les récepteurs polonais.

    The researcher assumes that not all references to earlier texts should be defined as intertextual. Based on a functional criterion, she considers intertextual references that enrich or constitute the semantics of a text to be intertextual references that are relevant to translation theory and practice. The aims of this article are, firstly, to examine the sense-making role of intertextual references in the 2022 novel Rot (Hunger) by the Sri Lankan German-language writer Senthuran Varatharajah, and, secondly, to identify the difficulties facing a potential translator.

    Celem artykułu jest przywołanie znaczeń (semantycznych, kulturowych) implikowanych słowem „tęsknota” – w perspektywie diachronicznej i synchronicznej. Wychodząc od pierwotnych znaczeń rzeczownika „tęsknota” w prasłowiańszczyźnie, wskazano, że tęsknota jako pojęcie filozoficzne ukonstytuowało się dopiero w tradycji judaistyczno-chrześcijańskiej, a jej podstawą było wyobrażenie o niedoskonałości conditio humana i wynikające z niej dążeniu do osiągnięcia ideału (Stwórcy). Następnie powołując się na typologię nostalgii zaproponowanej przez rosyjsko-amerykańską teoretyczkę kultury Svetlanę Boym, rozważono dwa typy tęsknoty (restoratywna i refleksyjna), a kryterium ich wydzielenia stanowiła oś czasu: przeszłość – przyszłość. Badaczki przekonują, że współcześnie mamy do czynienia ze wszechobecnością tęsknoty, co wynika – z jednej strony – z niepokojącej sytuacji na świecie (np. wojna w Ukrainie), a z drugiej strony – z ogólnej tendencji współczesnego świata, tj. niemożności osiągnięcia stanu spełnienia. Twórcza refleksja współczesnych artystów, pisarek i pisarzy nad doświadczaną i/lub antycypowaną utratą ostatecznie potwierdza kulturotwórczy potencjał pojęcia tęsknoty.
    The aim of this paper is to shed light on the (semantic, cultural) meanings implied by the word "longing" in a diachronic and synchronic perspective. Starting from the original meanings of the noun "longing" in Proto-Slavic, the authors aim to demonstrate that longing as a philosophical concept was first constituted in the Judeo-Christian tradition and that its basis was the idea of the imperfection of the human condition and the consequent striving for the ideal. With reference to the typology of nostalgia proposed by the Russian-American cultural theorist Svetlana Boym, two types of longing (restorative and reflexive) are distin-guished, the criterion for their separation being localisation of the object of longing on the time axis: past-future. The researchers argue that today we are dealing with an omnipresent longing, which on the one hand is due to the worrying situation in the world (e.g. the war in Ukraine) and, on the other hand, to the general tendency of today's world, i.e. the impossibility of reaching a state of fulfilment. The creative reflection of contemporary writers on experienced and/or expected loss ultimately confirms the cultural potential of the concept of longing.
    Ziel des Beitrags ist es, die (semantischen, kulturellen) Bedeutungen, die das Wort „Sehnsucht“ impliziert, in einer diachronen und synchronen Perspektive zu beleuchten. Ausgehend von den ursprünglichen Bedeutungen des Substantivs „Sehnsucht“ im Urslawischen wird aufgezeigt, dass die Sehnsucht als philosophisches Konzept erst in der jüdisch-christli-chen Tradition konstituiert wurde und dass ihr die Idee der Unvollkommenheit der conditio humana und das daraus folgende Streben nach dem Ideal zugrunde lag. Unter Bezugnahme auf die von der russisch-amerikanischen Kulturtheoretikerin Svetlana Boym vorgeschlagene Typologie der Nostalgie werden zwei Arten von Sehnsucht (restorative und reflective) unterschieden, wobei das Kriterium für ihre Trennung Lokalisierung des Sehnsuchtsobjektes auf der Zeitachse ist: Vergangenheit-Zukunft. Die Forscherinnen argumentieren, dass wir es heute mit einer allgegenwärtigen Sehnsucht zu tun haben, die einerseits auf die besorgniserregende Situation in der Welt (z. B. der Krieg in der Ukraine) und andererseits auf die allgemeine Tendenz der heutigen Welt zurückzuführen ist, d.h. die Unmöglichkeit, einen Zustand der Erfüllung zu erreichen. Die kreative Reflexion zeitgenössischer SchriftstellerInnen über erlebten und/oder zu erwartenden Verlust bestätigt letztlich das kulturelle Potenzial des Begriffs der Sehnsucht.
