Examined praseodymium doped crystals with 1 at.% of Pr$\text{}^{3+}$ ions for Y$\text{}_{3}$Al$\text{}_{5}$O$\text{}_{12}$ (YAG), SrLaGa$\text{}_{3}$O$\text{}_{7}$ (SLGO) hosts and 3 at.% of Pr$\text{}^{3+}$ ions for YAlO$\text{}_{3}$ (YAP) hosts were produced using Czochralski method. The luminescence for the range of 200÷800 nm and absorption spectra for a wide range of 200÷6000 nm, for Pr$\text{}^{3+}$:YAG, Pr$\text{}^{3+}$:SLGO and Pr$\text{}^{3+}$:YAP crystals have been measured. A free-running laser emission of λ=0.744 μm for Pr:YAG and λ=0.729 μm for Pr:SLGO for two different transmissions of output mirrors has been obtained.

Opis:
The spectroscopic properties of trivalent dysprosium (Dy$\text{}^{3+}$) doped LiNbO$\text{}_{3}$ crystals have been investigated at various temperatures. Absorption, emission, excitation and lifetime measurements have been performed and discussed in the framework of Judd-Ofelt approach. The stimulated emission cross sections of the strongest transitions of Dy $\text{}^{3+}$ ion have been estimated. A stimulated emission has been demonstrated in the near infrared.

Opis:
The perfection of $YVO_4$ crystals, which are predicted to replace formerly used YAG garnets due to higher quantum efficiency and lower excitation level, was studied. The investigations of Czochralski grown undoped $YVO_4$ single crystals were performed mainly by means of X-ray topographic methods. Both synchrotron and conventional X-ray sources were used. The study revealed relatively high density of weak point-like contrasts which can be most probably interpreted as dislocation outcrops. In regions of the crystal close to its boundary we observed glide bands. It was also found that in some regions the dislocations form local subgrain boundaries. The white beam back reflection and monochromatic beam topography allowed to evaluate a local misorientation which not exceeded several angular minutes. No segregation fringes were observed proving a good homogeneity of chemical composition.

Opis:
The defect structure of $YVO_{4}$ single crystals doped with $Er^{3+},$ $Ho^{3+}$ and $Ca^{2+}$ were studied by X-ray diffraction topographic methods, using laboratory and synchrotron radiation sources. Variously developed block structure was the dominating imperfection of the investigated crystals observed both in conventional Lang and synchrotron topographs. The evaluation of block misorientation was realised by means of superimposed projection and section white beam synchrotron radiation topographs. More possibilities of following the mutual rotation of blocks were provided by means of white beam synchrotron radiation WBSR projection topographs exposed through the fine mesh.

Opis:
Przedmiotem badań było określenie zawartości wybranych metali w tkance mięśniowej, wątrobie i nerkach koźląt i tryczków pochodzących z regionu Podlasia. Materiał badawczy stanowiły koziołki rasy białej uszlachetnionej i tryczki polskiej owcy nizinnej. Zawartość Fe, Ca, Mn, Zn, Mg, Cu oraz Pb w tkankach oznaczono metodą spektrofotometrycznej absorpcji atomowej (AAS). Średnie stężenia magnezu w analizowanej tkance mięśniowej okazały się statystycznie istotne (p ≤ 0,01) między badanymi gatunkami zwierząt. Podobne zależności wykazano w wątrobie i nerkach. W tkance mięśniowej koziołków stwierdzono istotnie większą (p ≤ 0,05) zawartość cynku i żelaza (Zn – 59,90 mg ・ kg–1, Fe – 28,27 mg ・ kg–1). Wątroba tryczków zawierała mniej żelaza (48,70 mg ・ kg–1). Uzyskane wyniki nie przekraczały dopuszczalnych norm zawartych w rozporządzeniach.
The kontent of selected metals in the liver, kidney and meat tissue of goats and lambs was inverstigated. The kids of white improved breed and ram of Polish lowland breed originated from Podlasie region. Samples of tissues were tested for the kontent of Fe, Ca, Mn, Mg, Cu, Zn and Pb using atomie absorption spectroscopy (AAS). Mean concentration of Mg in the muscles was significantly different depending on the animal breed. Similar results were obtained for kidney and liver. The mean concentration of the Zn and Fe (Zn – 59.90 mg ・ kg–1 Fe – 28.27 mg ・ kg–1) in tested muscle tissue of goats. Liver lambs contrained less Fe (48.70 mg ・ kg–1). The kontent of chemical elements were included within the physiological limits and did not make any tonic threat.

Indices of selected financial markets from various parts of world, different sizes and levels of development are investigated. The local Hurst exponent is globally compared to log-prices. Periodic changes in correlation coefficient are quantified via discrete Fourier transform. Local Hurst exponents spectra are discussed for investigated markets.

In the present paper X-ray diffraction topographic techniques were applied to a number of samples cut from Czochralski grown $Pr_{x}La_{1-x}AlO_{3}$ crystals with different ratio of praseodymium and lanthanum. Conventional and synchrotron X-ray topographic investigations revealed differently developed domain structures dependent on the composition of mixed praseodymium lanthanum aluminium perovskites. Some large mosaic blocks were observed together with the domains. In the best crystals, X-ray topographs revealed striation fringes and individual dislocations inside large domains. Synchrotron topographs allowed us to indicate that the domains correspond to three different crystallographic planes, and to evaluate the lattice misorientation between domains in the range of 20-50 arc min.

We employ scanning electron microscopy and cathodoluminescence for evaluation of uniformity of ZnCoO films obtained by the atomic layer deposition. Cathodoluminescence quenching by Co ions allows us to detect (regions of weaker light emission) Co accumulations, with the resolution limited by diffusion length of secondary carriers.

The electronic structure of ferromagnetic (Zn,Co)O films was investigated by resonant photoemission across the Co 3p → Co 3d photoionization threshold, e.g. using photon energy between 50 eV and 66 eV. The films were grown by atomic layer deposition at temperature between 160C and 300C and they differed in distribution and content of cobalt. The maximum of the Fano resonance was observed at photon energy 63 eV, whereas the minimum at 58 eV. The difference between energy distribution curves taken at 63 eV and the one taken at 58 eV was calculated for a series of samples. It shows that the Co 3d contribution to the valence band electronic structure of ferromagnetic (Zn,Co)O films differs significantly from that of the films which show the paramagnetic response.

Opis:
ZnCuO thin films have been deposited on silicon, glass and quartz substrates by atomic layer deposition method, using reactive organic precursors of zinc and copper. As zinc and copper precursors we applied diethylzinc and copper(II) acetyloacetonate. Structural, electrical and optical properties of the obtained ZnCuO layers are discussed based on the results of scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, the Hall effect and photoluminescence investigations.

W pracy zaprezentowano wyniki eksperymentów, mających na celu określenie warunków wzrostu kryształów 4H- oraz 6H-SiC wolnych od wtrąceń politypu 15R-SiC. Kryształy SiC otrzymane w procesie krystalizacji metodą transportu fizycznego z fazy gazowej (PVT) zostały zbadane przy użyciu metod badawczych takich jak: dyfrakcja rentgenowska (XRD), dyfrakcja elektronów wstecznie rozproszonych (EBSD), mikroskopia optyczna oraz trawienie chemiczne, pod kątem występowania wtrąceń politypu 15R w strukturach krystalicznych 4H- oraz 6H-SiC. Otrzymane wyniki badań zostały odniesione do parametrów wzrostu tj.: temperatury, ciśnienia, rodzaju materiału wsadowego, oraz jakości i orientacji monokrystalicznego zarodka SiC. Przeprowadzona została dyskusja na temat wpływu warunków wzrostu na powstawanie politypu 15R, z której jednoznacznie wynika, że tworzenie się wtrąceń politypowych 15R w strukturach 4H i 6H wiąże się ze znacznym spadkiem jakości strukturalnej otrzymanych kryształów. Z przeprowadzonych badań wynika, że otrzymanie jednorodnych kryształów politypu 6H i 4H bez wtrąceń 15R-SiC metodą PVT jest trudne ze względu na bardzo szeroki zakres warunków, w których polityp 15R występuje.
In this paper the main problems which have to be resolved to obtain 4H- and 6H-SiC crystals free from 15R-SiC inclusions by the physical vapour transport method (PVT) are presented. The resultant SiC crystals have been investigated using various experimental methods such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), optical microscopy and KOH etching in order to check the quality of the crystal structure and the amount of the 15R-SiC inclusions. The obtained results have been analysed with reference to the following growth conditions: temperature, pressure, type of the SiC source material and the quality of the crystal seed. The investigations have showed that a serious deterioration of the structural quality is unavoidable when the 15R-SiC polytype occurs in hexagonal polytypes such as 4H- and 6H-SiC. Obtaining homogenious 4H-SiC and 6H-SiC crystals without any 15R-SiC inclusions by the PVT method is difficult due to there being a very wide range of conditions in which the 15R-SiC polytype appears.

In this article we investigate the problem of applying agile practices into safetycritical projects. The goal of our research is to investigate potential benefits from introducing agile practices into safety-critical environment and to present a solution providing for balancing agile approach with more disciplined assurance techniques, bringing the best of the two worlds together. In this article we present the supporting ideas such as assurance argument patterns along with a case study. The case study investigates how software engineers perceive risks associated with the introduction of agile practices and collect their ideas on how these risks could be mitigated.

The $GdVO_4$ single crystals, both undoped and doped with erbium or thulium, were studied by means of X-ray diffraction topographic methods exploring laboratory and synchrotron radiation sources. Variously developed block structure, caused probably by thermal stresses, was revealed. The highest crystallographic perfection was observed in the crystal doped with 4 at.% of thulium, which was free of the grain boundaries in the end part. Contrary to that, the differences in structural perfection between samples cut out from various regions of the crystal and for different kinds of doping, were less distinct in other crystals. The diffraction topographic methods enabled the statement that the misorientation between various blocks is in the range of several arc minutes.

Opis:
A relationship between daily prices of Polish WIG index and trading volumes is investigated. By introducing variables related to a number of last prices and volumes, a history of values in a certain period of time (which could be regarded as an investor memory) is taken into account. Different characteristics of autocorrelations for prices and trading volumes are observed. By studying mutual correlations between the variables, a local maximum at about 100 trading days is discovered. The Granger causality test is performed, indicating very strong influence of prices on volumes. This property can be considered as a sign of markets maturity.

A domain structure and crystallographic defects in Czochralski grown single crystals of $Pr_xLa_{1-x}AlO_3$ and $Pr_xLa_{1-x-y}Mg_yAlO_3$ were characterised with a number of methods including conventional and synchrotron X-ray diffraction topography, and polariscopic micrography. The observed twin domain systems were located perpendicularly to 〈100〉$\text{}_\text{pcub}$ and 〈110〉$\text{}_\text{pcub} (pseudocubic) directions. It has been confirmed that the domains are of the same orientation and a twin character as those described in literature for $LaAlO_3$ and $LaGaO_3$ crystals. The use of section transmission topography enabled to indicate that the domains are perpendicular to the $(100)_\text{pcub}$ surface of the samples. The misorientation of lattice in the domains was evaluated from the white beam topographs and a tendency of its increase with increasing concentration of praseodymium was revealed.
