Opis:: In 2022, two classifications were published to define the diagnosis of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The World Health Organisation (WHO) 5th edition and the International Consensus Classification (ICC) provide an updated summary of current knowledge of the diseases and construct a framework for physicians. Two differing classifications result in discrepancies, which change the definition of AML subtypes and present a challenge in clinical settings. This work summarizes the updated classification systems and discusses their significance in clinical settings while considering the latest findings. Relevant changes affect the i) required blast percentage, ii) AML harbouring CEBPA mutations, iii) AML with KMT2A and MECOM rearrangements, iv) AML with myelodysplasia-related characteristics and in association with this entity AML with mutated RUNX1, and lastly v) AML with TP53 mutation. In summary, a unified classification system would be desirable to achieve harmonized diagnosis and treatment of AML).

Opis:: The evolution of the dislocation structure in randomly textured cast magnesium as a function of loading mode is studied using whole neutron diffraction pattern line profile analysis and elasto-plastic self-consistent modeling. Both the experimental results and the theoretical data indicate the onset of basal slip at low stresses and the key role of prismatic slip in the macroscopic yield. Dependence of the second-order pyramidal slip on the loading mode is revealed.

Opis:: One of the features determining the strength of troops is command and control. The quality of command and control is determined by the quality of the command and control systems (C2S). The Czech Armed Forces are developing tactical command and control systems (TC2S) for the Ground and Air Forces. The TC2S were a little bit separately developed. Now, we want to use the benefit of shared situation awareness. The concept of Network Centric Warfare is a solution of this problem. The integration of both TC2S's is its main objective. To apply this concept, separate C2S's of different units are integrated into one logical system, into one joint C2S. Thus it is possible to create the common operation picture for all units of the task force.

Opis:: The objective of the study was the evaluation of the frequency of occurrence of acute respiratory infections among rural population from the Lublin Region, and verifi cation of the appropriateness of the use of antibiotics in empirical fi rst-line therapy of these diseases. The analysis covered medical records concerning 1,839 patients selected from 27 rural health centres within the period of one year (1 September 2005–31 August 2006). As many as 656 patient visits were recorded, the reasons for which were qualifi ed by physicians as infections of the upper and lower airways. These disorders were diagnosed in 450 patients, which constituted 24.46% of the population examined. The following diagnoses were most frequently made: acute pharyngitis and tonsillitis (31.25% of the total number of diagnoses), acute upper respiratory infections of multiple and unspecifi ed sites (22.25%), and common cold (21.64%). Antibiotics were used in empirical fi rst-line therapy in as many as 82% of the total number of patients. The analysis showed that in the great majority of cases the use of antibiotics was inappropriate. If this situation persists, in the near future it will lead to an increase in the phenomenon of antibioticoresistance in Poland. In order to prevent this situation, it is necessary to carry out an extensive educational action concerning the hazardous effect of excessive use of antibiotics, both among physicians and the whole society.

Opis:: This work introduces an electrospinning method for laboratory-scale production of nanofibrous materials from polyvinylalcohol (PVA) nanofibres. A procedure for the subsequent production of twisted yarns from the aligned nanofibrous strand is introduced as well. Both needle and needleless electrospinning variants were employed. Mechanical properties of the nanoyarns produced were tested using a VIBRODYN 400 and their morphology was investigated by light and electron microscopy. The work also introduces a simple analysis of the field strength that causes the prevailing unidirectional fiber deposition between neighbouring lamellae of a special saw-like collector. The field strength analysis was carried out both analytically and by modelling based on the software COMSOL Multiphysics.
Praca przedstawia metodę elektroprzędzenia do produkcji materiałów nanowłóknistych z nanowłókien PVA w skali laboratoryjnej. Przedstawiono również procedurę późniejszego wytwarzania skręconych przędz z połączonych taśm nanowłókien. W badaniach zastosowano elektroprzędzenie filierowe jaki i bezfilierowe. Właściwości mechaniczne wytworzonych przędz badano stosując VIBRODYN 400, ich morfologię badano za pomocą mikroskopii optyczna i elektronowej. Praca przedstawia również prostą analizę natężenia pola, która prowadzi do dominującego jednokierunkowego osadzania się włókien między sąsiadującymi lamelami specjalnego kolektora. Analizę natężenia pola przeprowadzono analitycznie i modelowo stosując program COMSOL Multiphysics.
