Opis:
The primary aim of this paper is to study the optimization of rigid frame bridge parameters. With a three-span continuous rigid frame bridge as the engineering background, finite element models were established. Then an index about bridge force condition was proposed to calculate the optimal side-to-mid span ratio with different side-to-mid span ratio parameters. Based on the ratio, the values of the girder depth at the pier and the bottom curve degree of the box-girder were taken as parameters in their common ranges for further optimization. A comprehensive multi-objective evaluation index correlated with the mid-span section stress, the mid-span deflection, and the concrete consumption was proposed to do fine optimization through the genetic algorithm method. The result of this study shows that the genetic algorithm is an effective method for bridge optimization and could provide better girder design parameter combinations for the comprehensive performance, and the optimal result could be obtained in the continuous parameter definition domains. It also shows that a larger girder depth at the pier to span ratio and a smaller curve degree in their common ranges should be taken for the bridge’s comprehensive performance.

Optimizing the aerodynamic structure of composite insulators can guarantee the safe operation of power systems. In this study, we construct a simulation model for composite insulator contaminant deposition using the COMSOL simulation software, and the rationality of the simulation model and method is verified through wind tunnel experiments. Taking the FXBW4-110/100 composite insulator as an example, we adopt a progressive optimization plan to explore the impacts of shed spacing s, and shed inclination angles α and β on its contaminant deposition characteristics under DC and AC voltages. Based on the numerical simulation results, we analyze the antifouling performance of insulators before and after structural optimization. The results indicate the following: 1) The contaminant deposition of the insulator under AC and DC voltages is negatively correlated with the shed spacing s, but positively correlated with the lower inclination angle β. 2) Under AC voltages, the contaminant deposition of the insulator increases with the upper inclination angle α, while under DC voltages, the contaminant deposition shows an uptrend first, then a downtrend and then an uptrend again with the increase of the upper inclination angle α. 3) Compared with the original model, the AC-optimized model ( α = 6°, β = 2° and s = 98 mm) with a larger shed spacing s, and smaller shed inclination angles α and β showed superior antifouling performance at wind speeds of no less than 2 m/s, and under the typical conditions ( v = 2.5 m/s, d = 20 μm, and ρ = 2 200 kg/m 3), its contaminant deposition is 15% less than that of the original model ( α = 10°, β = 2° and s = 80 mm).

Background: To analyze the impact of the flood disasters, social support and personality on the mental health of residents in Henan Province, China, providing fundamental knowledges for making measuring strategies to improve the psychological protection and anti-stress ability of the residents after the disaster. Material and Methods: A cross-section study was conducted via an online survey platform “questionnaire star,” which included 572 residents in Henan Province, which underwent the history of ever flood disaster on July 20. The questionnaires of Impact of Event Scale-Revised Edition (IES-R), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21) and the scales of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised (EPQ-R) version in Chinese were also administered to each participant. Generalized linear regression model was performed. Results: The residents who live in the flooding areas, are male and married had a significantly higher post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) score than their counterparts. The scores of depression-anxiety-stress in the residents with stable emotion were significantly lower than those with unstable emotion (p < 0.001). Machine learning showed that PTSD ranked the top risk factor, followed by neuroticism for Depression-Anxiety-Stress after disaster. The PTSD was negatively correlated with social support (p < 0.01), while it was positively correlated with depression-anxiety-stress and emotional stability (p < 0.01). There was a statistically significant interaction between PTSD, social support and neuroticism on depression-anxiety-stress (p < 0.001), with an independent effect of 1.4% on depression-anxiety-stress. Emotional stability showed the largest association with depression-anxiety-stress. Conclusions: Residents living in the catastrophic flooding areas had significant post-traumatic mental health issues, and the severity of mental problems was differently affected by post-traumatic stress disorder and social support in individuals with different personalities. Introvert and PTSD were the major risk factors for depression-anxiety-stress after the disaster.

Opis:
Hypericum perforatum is well known for its antidepressant and anti-inflammatory activities, for which hypericin and its derivatives are indicated to be the most active compounds. Hypericin synthase (Hyp-1) is the only protein proven to catalyze the synthesis of hypericin. In this study, the full-length cDNA of Hyp-1 was chemically synthesized according to the Hyp-1 sequence in GenBank (accession no. AY148090) and then cloned into the plasmid pET22b. Hyp-1 was expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) and purified with a Ni-NTA column. The purified protein was used to immunize New Zealand white rabbits, from which an antiserum was purified by protein G affinity chromatography. The polyclonal antibody against Hyp-1 provides a valuable tool for the study of hypericin biosynthesis in H. perforatum. Expression of Hyp-1 and the cellular distribution of hypericin were analyzed in different organs of red-pigmented H. perforatum plantlets. The black glands were not the only site of hypericin accumulation and the results indicated that hypericin might be synthesized in mesophyll cells or in tissues of the root and/or stem and then transported to the glands. This work provides a foundation for further investigation of the regulatory mechanism of hypericin synthesis during the development of H. perforatum.

Building on the effective-mass envelope function theory, this paper focuses on the study of the energy band and the absorption coefficient of $InAs//In_{x}Ga_{1 - x}As$ quantum dots in a well (DWELL) structure. In contrast to $InAs//In_{0.15}Ga_{0.85}As$ quantum DWELL, the $InAs//In_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$ quantum DWELL has lower ground states. With the thickness of $In_{0.15}Ga_{0.85}As$ layer changing from 7 nm to 9 nm and $In_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$ layer changing from 9 nm to 12 nm, the calculation shows that their absorption coefficient spectra takes a red shift in the long-wave infrared and far-infrared ranges, respectively. Moreover, when the thickness of the $In_{x}Ga_{1 - x}As$ layer is defined as 9 nm, the absorption coefficient spectra of $InAs//In_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$ DWELL shows a obvious red shift comparing with that of $InAs//In_{0.15}Ga_{0.85}As$ DWELL.

Objectives This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) in nurses, and to explore the association of work style and physical exercise with WMSD in this professional group. Material and Methods In this study, a cross-sectional survey design was applied. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 692 nurses in 5 municipal hospitals, in the period August–October 2015. The survey included personal information, lifestyle, physical exercise and symptoms of WMSD. Chi² test and logistic regression were used to identify the risk factors of WMSD. Results The prevalence of WMSD was 84% in all parts of the body in the previous year, with the highest prevalence in the neck (68.2%), followed by waist (67.6%) and shoulder (54.6%). Both univariate and multivariate analyses showed that physical exercise, night shifts and staying up late were associated with WMSD in nurses. The lack of exercise, night shifts and a tendency to stay up significantly increased the risk of WMSD (p < 0.05). Conclusions The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among the municipal hospital nursing staff is high. An elevated risk of WMSD is observed in nurses who do not do exercises, work shifts and stay up late. Int J Occup Med Environ Health. 2019;32(1):15–24

Vertically well-aligned ZnO nanorods arrays were synthesized on sapphire substrates by chemical bath deposition. Those sapphire substrates were seeded to control the density and orientation of ZnO nanorods using sol-gel method. Well-aligned and uniformly distributed ZnO nanorods in a large scale were obtained with strongly (002) preferential orientation. The structural properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction spectrometer and morphological characteristics were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The ZnO nanorods are obvious hexangular wurtzite structure and preferentially oriented along the c-axis (002) and growth vertically to the substrates. The optical properties were further thoroughly studied. What is more, the influences of the strain between substrate and ZnO nanorods due to thickness of the ZnO seed-layer on the characteristics and optical properties of ZnO were also analyzed.

Topology Optimization and Finite Element Analysis were carried out for reinforced concrete short beams to reveal the force mechanism. The results show that load-transfer paths for the beams can evolve from Bi-directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization and be mechanically supported by the Michell criterion. In the beams, the distribution of a high- -stress compression area appears as a truss under a concentrated load and a tie-arch under a uniform load. The beams do not have much higher bearing capacity but can consume many more materials. Consequently, new design ideas were recommended based on the load transfer paths obtained by Topology Optimization.

Opis:
Serpins are a broadly distributed family of protease inhibitors. In this study, the gene encoding Bombyx mori serpin-2 (Bmserpin-2) was cloned and expressed in E. coli. The Bmserpin-2 cDNA contains a 1125 bp open reading frame (ORF). The deduced protein has 374 amino-acid residues, contains a conserved SERPIN domain and shares extensive homology with other invertebrate serpins. RT-PCR analysis showed that Bmserpin-2 was expressed in all developmental stages of B. mori larvae and various larval tissues. Subcellular localization analysis indicated that Bmserpin-2 protein was located in the cytoplasm. Interestingly, real-time quantitative PCR revealed that the expression of Bmserpin-2 in the midgut of susceptible B. mori strain 306 significantly increased at 72 hours post inoculation (hpi) when infected with BmNPV. However, there was no significant increase of the Bmserpin-2 expression in resistant strain NB infected with BmNPV. Thus, our data indicates that Bmserpin-2 may be involved in B. mori antiviral response.

This research investigates the impacts of income inequality (proxied by the Gini index) on environmental governance (proxied by per capita government investments on industrial pollution prevention) by employing the panel fixed effect model, system generalized method of moments and bias-corrected least-squares dummy variables model for 23 provinces from 1995 to 2014. The results indicate that income inequality exhibits significantly positive impacts on government environmental governance investment in China, which reveals that an increase in income inequality may help to improve environmental governance in China; we thus offer several remittable implications for those policy makers in Chinese provinces as well as governments of emergent economies like China.

Opis:
Hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) as a telechelic liquid polymer has been widely used in propellants and explosives and many modified-HTPBs have been reported in the literature. As a binder or additive in propellants and explosives, the chemical modification of HTPB for improving certain properties of propellants has been summarized in detail in this article. According to the application drawbacks of HTPB, modified-HTPB can be classified differently. Furthermore, there are polymers that have been modified on their energetic properties, such as GAP-PB-GAP, BAMO-PB-BAMO, AMMO-PB-AMMO, Nitro-HTPB, HTPB-DNB and NHTPB. Pre-polymers modified on their combustion properties include Butacene®, FPDS-g-HTPB, Fc-HTPB, BiFc-g-HTPB, HTPB→[Fe(CO)3]x, PPA-HTPB-PPA and PNBE-HTPB-PNBE. HTPBs are also modified in curing systems containing, for example ETPB, PTPB, PrTPB, AzTPB, and PUPB, and other modification results are reviewed. Additionally, this overview is expected to provide an outlook for further studies in these fields.

2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxy stilbene-2-O-ß-D-glucoside (THSG) exerts multiple pharmacodynamic actions, found in Fallopia multiflora, but the biosynthesis pathway of THSG is still unclear. To clear this ambiguity, we constructed suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) libraries to screen the genes involved in THSG biosynthesis from two F. multiflora varieties, which vary significantly in THSG content. Twelve non-redundant differentially expressed sequence tags were obtained and the full lengths of 4 unreported fragments were amplified by rapid amplification of cDNA ends. We totally got 7 fulllength transcripts, and all of them were aligned to the transcriptome and digital gene expression tag profiling database of four F. multiflora tissues (root, stem and leaf from Deqing F. multiflora and another root from Chongqing F. multiflora; data unpublished) using local BLAST. The results showed that there was a significant, organ specific difference in the expression of fragments and full-length sequences. All the sequences were annotated by aligning to nucleotide and protein databases. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis indicated that THSG biosynthesis was correlated with multiple life activities.
