Opis:
As the dynamic behavior of the concrete is different from that under static load, this research focuses on the study of dynamic responses of concrete by simulating the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test. Finite element code LS-DYNA is used for modeling the dynamic behaviors of concrete. Three continuous models are reviewed and the Holmquist-Johnson-Cook model (HJC) is introduced in detail. The HJC model which has been implemented in LS-DYNA is used to represent the concrete properties. The SHPB test model is established and a few stress waves are applied to the incident bar to simulate the dynamic concrete behaviors. The stress-strain curves are obtained. The stress distributions are analyzed. The crack initiation and propagation process are described. It is concluded that: the HJC model can modeling the entire process of the fracture initiation and fragmentation; the compressive of the concrete is significantly influenced by the strain rates.

Opis:
Masson pine (Pinus massoniana) is an important species for resin tapping in China. Molecular assisted selection (MAS) has been gradually introduced in to the selection and breeding of masson pine. Until now, the lack of connection between genome information and phenotypic data has hindered the breeding and selection of important chemical compounds of xylem resin. In this study, gas chromatography mass spectrometer (GC-MS) was employed for qualitative and quantitative analysis of chemical compounds of resin collected from 69 masson pine germplasm resources. Then, genome-wide association study (GWAS) was conducted for the terpenoids with higher heritability. A total of 15 primary compounds, including six diterpenes and nine monoterpenes/sesquiterpenes, were detected from xylem resin. By using five GWAS methods, 42 associated SNPs were identified from these masson pines. The P. taeda genome database was used for detecting candidate genes related to the associated SNPs. By using transcriptome data, several members of PKc_like super family, Cytochrome P450, AP2-ERF, F-box, and ABC transporter were found to be highly expressed in the masson pines with higher resin-yielding capacity. The terpenoids associated SNPs can be directly used for MAS. These candidate genes, especially the two F-box members, will contribute to the study of terpenoid biosynthesis mechanisms in the future.

Opis:
In this work, a finite element study is proposed by using the Comsol Multiphysics software to evaluate the effects of microcrack shape, size and direction on the poroelastic behaviors of a single osteon. Methods: This finite element model is established by using the Comsol Multiphysics software, and we just focus on the comparison of the influences of those microcrack geometric parameters on the osteonal fluid pressure and velocity. Results: The results show that: (1) microcracks in the osteon wall can induce a release of the fluid pressure, but enlarge the velocity in this region; (2) equal-area microcrack with ellipsoid-like shape produced a larger fluid pressure and velocity fields in the osteon than that of rectangular shape; (3) in the elliptic microcracks, the longer of the length (major semi-axis) induces a smaller fluid pressure and velocity amplitudes, whereas the width (minor axis) has little effect; (4) the direction of the microcracks (major axial direction) has an limited influence area around about 1/15 of the osteon cross-sectional area. Conclusions: This model permits the linking of the external loads and microcracks to the osteonal fluid pressure and velocity, which can be used for other purpose associate microcracks with the mechanotransduction and bone remodeling.

A FEM-BEM coupling approach is used for acoustic fluid-structure interaction analysis. The FEM is used to model the structure and the BEM is used to model the exterior acoustic domain. The aim of this work is to improve the computational efficiency and accuracy of the conventional FEM-BEM coupling approach. The fast multipole method (FMM) is applied to accelerating the matrix-vector products in BEM. The Burton-Miller formulation is used to overcome the fictitious eigen-frequency problem when using a single Helmholtz boundary integral equation for exterior acoustic problems. The continuous higher order boundary elements and discontinuous higher order boundary elements for 2D problem are developed in this work to achieve higher accuracy in the coupling analysis. The performance for coupled element types is compared via a simple example with analytical solution, and the optimal element type is obtained. Numerical examples are presented to show the relative errors of different coupled element types.

Toluene mono-nitration in a semi-batch reactor was investigated with reaction calorimeter (RC1). The mixed acid HNO3/H2SO4/H2O (wt%) was used in proportion 13/66/21, which is similar to industrial parameters. The exothermic rates at different reaction temperatures were compared, and then the curves of heat generation rate after dosing were analyzed. The Maximal Temperature attainable by runaway of the desired Synthetic Reaction (MTSR) under different conditions were calculated for the course hazard evaluation. The results showed that the average reaction heat of mono-nitration was between 169.07~177.11 kJ mol-1, and the special heat of reactant was about 2 kJ kg-1 K-1. Average Ea of second order kinetic was about 30 kJ mol-1, and reaction rate was 10-4 mol s-1 l-1 order of magnitude when the strength of sulphuric acid was about 73.5%. It was also found that when temperature or stirring speed increases, the potential heat accumulation decreases.

Opis:
The objective function based on mesh quality metric has a major impact on smoothing unstructured tetrahedral meshes. The ability of seven mesh quality metrics to distinguish four kinds of poor-quality elements and their effects on the change of element shape are analyzed in detail. Then, four better mesh quality metrics are chosen to construct objective functions. In addition, the rational determination of searching direction and the optimal step size in the optimization algorithm of solving the objective function are proposed. Finally, comparisons with the other three objective functions are made according to different number of elements, iteration limit, and the desired accuracy in the improved mesh. It is found that with the increase of the number of elements, the time consumed during optimization increases, but the changes of the worst quality element are different. The number of iterations has little effect on the mesh quality and the time cost. The increasing of the desired degree of accuracy will improve the mesh quality and cost more time. Furthermore, the approach using objective function is compared with Freitag’s common approach. It is clearly shown that it performs better than the existing approach.

Quartz Crystal Microbalance with Dissipation (QCM-D) was firstly applied to investigate the adsorption mechanism of sodium oleate on TiO2 coated sensor surface. The effects of pH value, sodium oleate concentration, and temperature on TiO2 coated sensor surface were evaluated systematically using the QCM-D technique. Zeta potential, surface tension, adsorption isotherms, and adsorption thermodynamics were employed to characterize the adsorption process. The results showed the advantages of QCM-D on the investigation of the adsorption process. Additionally, the electrostatic equilibrium adsorption data was well matched to the Langmuir isotherm. Based on the thermodynamic analysis, adsorption was a spontaneous and endothermic physisorption process.

A comprehensive study of the direct photoluminescence from free-exciton states in GaN using polarization-dependent and magnetooptical measurements is presented. We measured and identified fine-structure splittings in the n=1 state of the A-exciton. From the magnetoluminescence data obtained in fields up to 15 T we determined the g-values of the conduction and valence bands parallel and perpendicular to the c-axis. Self-organized hexagonal GaN pyramids of 5 μm width and covered by six {11̲01} side facets were investigated by spatially resolved cathodoluminescence and micro-Raman spectroscopy. Beside a narrow luminescence peak at 355 nm, originating from the 2 μm thick GaN layer, an additional broad luminescence band was observed from the GaN pyramids around a wavelength of 357 nm. A strong energy shift is found along the {11̲01} pyramidal facets and directly visualized by monochromatic cathodoluminescence images and line scans. In GaN epilayers grown on GaAs substrates a series of sharp modes in the range between 60 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ and 250 cm$\text{}^{-1}$ for temperatures below 100 K was found. The intensities of these modes increased drastically with decreasing temperature. Raman excitation spectra showed a maximum between 514.5 nm and 568 nm. A comparison of spatially resolved investigations with that of intentionally doped GaN epilayers showed that the in-diffusion of As from the substrate plays an important role. Raman spectra as a function of external fields, like magnetic field and hydrostatic pressure, gave additional information about the defect type and the underlying scattering mechanism.

The formulas of spherical triangle, which are widely used to solve various navigation problems, are the important basic knowledge of nautical mathematics. Because the sine rules and the cosine rules for the sides are the fundamental formulas to derive the other spherical triangle formulas, they are also called the genetic codes of the spherical triangle formulas. In the teaching process, teachers usually use the geometric method to derive and prove these fundamental formulas. However, the derivation of geometric methods is complicated and difficult to understand. To improve the teaching process, this paper proposes the three-dimensional rotation method, which is based on conversion of two cartesian coordinate frames using the rotation matrices. This method can easily and simultaneously derive the sine rules, the cosine rules for the sides, and the five-part formulas (I), and is also helpful to solve different kinds of spherical navigation problems.

Opis:
Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) is currently the most efficient and precise method to generate genetically tailored pig models for both agricultural and biomedical research. However, its efficiency is crucially dependent on the source of nuclear donor cells. In this study, we compared the cloning efficiency by using three lines of donor cells that are derived from fetal, newborn and adult fibroblasts of Chinese indigenous Meishan pig. We showed that cleavage rate and blastocyst formation rate of the reconstructed embryos were not significantly different between the fetal (80.7% and 15.6%) and newborn ear skin (77.5% and 12.3%) fibroblast groups (p>0.05), but in both groups these indices were significantly higher than that found in the adult ear skin (70.5% and 8.8%; p<0.05). Reconstructed embryos derived from fetal, newborn, and adult ear skin fibroblasts were transferred to four surrogates, respectively. For the fetal, newborn, and adult ear skin fibroblasts, the number of pregnancies were two (50.0%), two (50.0%), and one (25.0%), respectively, and the number of deliveries were two (50.0%), one (25.0%), and zero (0.0%), respectively. Seven and two cloned piglets were obtained from the fetal and newborn ear skin fibroblasts respectively, while no piglets were obtained from the adult ear skin fibroblasts. Two cloned piglets from the newborn ear skin fibroblasts died shortly after birth because of neonatal asphyxia caused by dystocia. The birth weights of the piglets derived from the fetal and newborn ear skin fibroblasts were 1230.5 and 1310.0g, respectively, which were statistically insignificant (p>0.05), but both were significantly higher than that of the control groups (p<0.05). Microsatellite analyses demonstrated that the genotypes of all cloned piglets were identical to their donor cells. Therefore, cloned pigs were successfully produced using two sources of donor cells isolated from the fetal and newborn ear skin fibroblasts of Meishan piglet, and indicating a better cloning efficiency than that obtained from adult fibroblasts. We concluded that the nuclear donor cell lines have significant impact on the developmental competence of cloned embryos as well as on the cloning efficiency of Meishan pig.

The microstructures of the competitive coupons were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and consequently the corresponding friction and wear mechanisms were studied. The results demonstrated that: (1) the best competitive material of friction and wear performance of the 201HT was the 201HTC. (2) the 201HTC modified by carbon following the initial mill for oil storage of the micro-groove to be produced, increased the corresponding lubrication performance reduced the friction coefficient and wear rate effectively. (3) the 201HT-201HTC could obtain both better friction and wear mainly due to the initial process of grinding following the 201HT plastic deformation occurred in the surface and the formation of a series of re-melting welding points, whereas the 201HT material hardness would be similar to the 201HTC material hardness, which led into the competitive material friction and wear performance improvement.

During exploitation process of fractured reservoir, the complex distribution of natural fracture system may lead to a series of accidents, such as sand plug and multi fracture extension in hydraulic fracturing operation. Considering the difficulties of numerical analysis on formation rock mass fracture system distribution, three-dimensional geometry model of a single fracture formation is proposed in this paper, and fractal geometry method is introduced to build the three-dimensional fractal description model of formation fracture system distribution. On this basis, the effects of fractal parameters on natural fracture porosity, permeability and other properties are analyzed. The results show that: First, the number and propagation of natural fracture are controlled by the fractal dimension, the number of groups and the initial quantity. Second, the fractal dimension of natural fracture distribution has an obvious effect on natural fracture porosity and permeability. Third, porosity and permeability of natural fracture distribution both experience exponential growth as fractal dimension increases. Fourth, when the fractal dimension remains constant, the porosity and permeability of natural fractures both increase with the fracture scale.
