W artykule dokonano analizy zmian, jakie występowały w latach 2001-2006 na krajowym rynku wybranych narzędzi i maszyn rolniczych do produkcji roślinnej (pługi, kultywatory, sadzarki, siewniki, rozsiewacze nawozów mineralnych, opryskiwacze). Analiza produkcji, importu, eksportu i podaży wyżej wymienionych narzędzi i maszyn rolniczych wykazała, że krajowy rynek maszyn rolniczych charakteryzuje się wysokim stopniem niestabilności.
Analysis of changes on home market for the years 2001-2006 was made in the range of agricultural machines and equipment for planet production. The analysis concerned in particular such machines as ploughs, cultivators, planters, drills, fertilizer distributors and sprayers. The analysis of production, import, export and of supply of aforementioned tools and agricultural machines proved that the home market of agricultural machines is to a large extent unstable.

While studying the influence of ionizing radiation or certain chemical agents on cells, it is crucial to not only determine cytotoxicity, but also to follow cell death mechanisms. There are different methods to screen processes of cell death and still very important question remains unanswered about differences in results that could be caused by various experimental steps in procedures. Based on literature review two protocols of cell death determination were compared. First protocol regarded collecting cells floating in medium before trypsinization and following centrifugation of them. In the second protocol floating cells were discarded and attached ones were stained and fixed. In all experiments three different untreated cell lines (A172, DU145 as cancer cell lines and in comparison, fibroblasts (FB CCL 110), as a non- cancerous cell line) were used to test applied protocols. Cells were cultured and death processes were examined at different time points up to 120 h. Compared protocols showed statistically significant differences, especially in terms of necrosis, which was higher when included floating cells from culture medium and then centrifuging them. Therefore, presented results show importance of choosing a valid experimental procedure in case of evaluating cells viability and types of cell death pathways quantitatively.

Opis:
Soil moisture datasets at various scales are needed for sustainable land use and water management. The aim of this study was to compare soil moisture ocean salinity satellite and in situ soil moisture data for the Podlasie and Polesie regions in Eastern Poland. Both regions have similar climatic and topo- graphic conditions but are different in land use, vegetation, and soil cover. The test sites were located on agricultural fields on sandy soils and natural vegetation on marshy soils that prevail in the Podlasie and Polesie regions, respectively. The soil moisture ocean salinity soil moisture data were obtained from radiometric measurements (1.4 GHz) and the ground soil moisture from sensors at a depth of 5 cm during the years 2010-2011. In general, temporal patterns of soil moisture from both satellite and ground measurements followed the rainfall trend. The regression coeffi- cients, Bland-Altman analysis, concordance correlation coefficient, and total deviation index showed that the agreement between ground and soil moisture ocean salinity derived soil moisture data is better for the Podlasie than the Polesie region. The lower agre- ement in Polesie was attributed mostly to the presence of the widespread natural vegetation on the wetter marsh soil along with minor contribution of agriculturally used drier coarse-textured soils.

Opis:
The paper deals with processing of imaging data obtained in the course of different medical examination procedures, for use in applications focused on improving both the diagnostic process of a patient as well as extending the training possibilities for medical personnel. Computed tomography (CT) data serves as the main source of structural and volumetric information. Fusion with left ventricular systolic function map, provides a vital information on the state of heart muscle. In parallel, the same set of computed tomography data is reused for simulation of trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE). The presented simulation setup is used in the course of medical personnel training.

Opis:
Duplex type ferritic-austenitic stainless steels develop a specific two-phase banded structure upon thermo-mechanical pre-treatment and subsequent cold-rolling. The band-like morphology of ferrite and austenite imposes different conditions on plastic deformation of both constituent phases in comparison to one-phase ferritic and austenitic steels. In the present research the ingot of a model ferritic-austenitic steel of duplex type, produced by laboratory melt, was subjected to preliminary thermo-mechanical treatment including forging and solution annealing. Afterwards cold-rolling was conducted over a wide deformation range. The investigations comprised examination of ferrite and austenite microstructures by means of optical and transmission electron microscopy and texture measurements after selected rolling reductions. The presented results indicate that deformation mechanisms operating within the bands of both constituent phases are essentially the same as compared to one-phase steels, however their appearance and contribution are changed upon deformation of two-phase banded structure. Different deformation behavior within ferrite-austenite bands in duplex steels, visible especially at higher strains, considerably affects microstructure evolution and in consequence texture formation in both phases.
Podczas wstępnej obróbki cieplno-plastycznej i dalszego walcowania na zimno w nierdzewnych stalach ferrytyczno-austenitycznych typu duplex następuje rozwój charakterystycznej pasmowej struktury dwufazowej. Pasmowa morfologia ferrytu i austenitu stwarza odmienne warunki dla procesu odkształcenia plastycznego obu składowych faz w porównaniu do jednofazowych stali ferrytycznych i austenitycznych. W prezentowanych badaniach wlewek modelowej stali ferrytyczno-austenitycznej typu duplex, uzyskany na drodze wytopu laboratoryjnego, poddano wstępnej obróbce cieplno-plastycznej obejmującej kucie na gorąco i przesycanie. Następnie przeprowadzono walcowanie na zimno w szerokim zakresie deformacji. Badania obejmowały obserwacje mikrostruktury ferrytu i austenitu za pomocą mikroskopii optycznej i transmisyjnej mikroskopii elektronowej oraz pomiary tekstury po wybranych stopniach odkształcenia. Prezentowane wyniki wskazują, ze mechanizmy odkształcenia działające w obszarach obu składowych faz są zasadniczo takie same jak w przypadku stali jednofazowych, jednakże ich udział i znaczenie ulegają istotnym zmianom podczas odkształcenia pasmowej struktury dwufazowej. Odmienny sposób odkształcenia pasm ferrytu i austenitu w stalach duplex, widoczny zwłaszcza w zakresie większych odkształceń, wpływa w istotny sposób na rozwój mikrostruktury a w konsekwencji na tworzenie się tekstury w obu fazach.

Drought and heat stresses are important threat limitations to plant growth and sustainable agriculture worldwide. Our objective is to provide a review of plant responses and adaptations to drought and elevated temperature including roots, shoots, and final yield and management approaches for alleviating adverse effects of the stresses based mostly on recent literature. The sections of the paper deal with plant responses including root growth, transpiration, photosynthesis, water use efficiency, phenotypic flexibility, accumulation of compounds of low molecular mass (eg proline and gibberellins), and expression of some genes and proteins for increasing the tolerance to the abiotic stresses. Soil and crop management practices to alleviate negative effects of drought and heat stresses are also discussed. Investigations involving determination of plant assimilate partitioning, phenotypic plasticity, and identification of most stress-tolerant plant genotypes are essential for understanding the complexity of the responses and for future plant breeding. The adverse effects of drought and heat stress can be mitigated by soil management practices, crop establishment, and foliar application of growth regulators by maintaining an appropriate level of water in the leaves due to osmotic adjustment and stomatal performance.

Opis:
The effect of increased mechanical impedance on pH and release of organic substances by roots of maize grown in nutrient solution was studied. pH of the nutrient solution and release of water soluble and insoluble exudates per unit of root weight increased as mechanical impedance increased. Root and top growth was reduced with increasing mechanical impedance.
Badano wpływ zwiększonego oporu mechanicznego na pH roztworu odżywczego i wydzielanie substancji organicznych przez korzenie tej rośliny. pH oraz ilość wydzielin korzeniowych na jednostkę masy korzeni zwiększały się wraz ze wzrostem oporu mechanicznego. Wzrost korzeni i części nadziemnych kukurydzy był ograniczony w warunkach zwiększonego opora mechanicznego.
