    Opis:
    The papier is a study of Matthew 1,18b–25 focalized on the narrative form of expression of belief in Incarnation. The studied pericope is presented as a key element of the Matthew’s Infancy Gospel (Matthew 1–2). Analysis of the plot of narrative is completed with the study of the quotation of Is 7,9 used in Matthew 1,23 in the Greek version (LXX). Both, the narrative and the form of the quoted text chosen by the author of the gospel are focalized on the virginal conception of Jesus as a decisive argument for the divine origin of Jesus. Inner textual recipient of the message of Incarnation is St. Joseph, a model of believer.

    „Kara wieczna” w Mt 25,31-46 to pojęcie symetryczne do „życia wiecznego”. Symetryzm cechuje całą jednostkę kompozycyjną, do której należy ta perykopa . Jest też ona realizacją modelu obecnego już w Ewangelii według św. Marka, ale rozwiniętego w Ewangelii według św. Mateusza. Model składa się z trzech części: przypowieści, separatora oraz alegoryzującej interpretacji początkowej przypowieści. W tym kontekście „kara wieczna” jest odpowiednikiem niedopuszczenia nierozumnych panien na ucztę weselną.
    “Eternal Punishment” in Mattew 25:31-46 is a symmetrical concept for “eternal life”. Symmetry characterizes the entire compositional unit to which this pericope belongs. It is also the implementation of the model already present in Mark, but developed in Matthew. The model consists of three parts: a parable, a separator, and an allegorizing interpretation of the initial parable. In this context, the “eternal punishment” is the equivalent of rejecting of sensless girls from a possibility to participate in the wedding feast.

    The research of Andrzej Wypustek on ancient scatology demonstrates how the use of the terms purity and impurity employed in the Gospels differs from their understanding in common language of the Roman civilization. The New Testament concepts of purity and impurity had not only to be translated, but also exposed to the Latin reader as to what constitutes the essence of the content of Jesus’ teaching. The study of the Latin translation tradition of Mark’s Gospel is an important part of the interpretation of the text. In fact, St. Jerome’s interpretation contains a reinterpretation of the motive of (im)purity in the sense which is different from the ritualistic direction of Mark’s text.
    Badania Andrzeja Wypustka nad skatologią starożytną pokazują, jak używane w Ewangeliach pojęcia czystości i nieczystości odbiegają od potocznie używanych w świecie rzymskiej cywilizacji. Nowotestamentalne pojęcia czystości i nieczystości należało więc nie tylko przełożyć, ale też przybliżyć łacińskiemu czytelnikowi to, co jest istotą treści nauczania Jezusa. Studium łacińskiej tradycji translatorskiej Ewangelii Markowej jest ważną częścią interpretacji tego tekstu. Interpretacja św. Hieronima zawiera w istocie reinterpretację motywu (nie)czystości w sensie, który różni się od rytualistycznego kierunku Markowego tekstu.

    Stanisław Grzepski (1524-1570) an outstanding classic and biblical philologist, the first Greek permanent lecturer of this language at the Krakow Academy. He combined philological interests with the passion of numismatist-collector and researcher of biblical antiquities. The fruit of his erudite knowledge in this area was published in the printing house of Krzysztof Plantin in Antwerp in 1568, the work of De multiplici siclo et talento hebraico. The Cracow scholar in the subtitle referred to Guillaume’s Budé earlier work De asse et partibus eius. Despite the fact that Grzepski presents himself to the reader as the author of a summary of the extensive work of a French scholar and diplomat, he created a work independent and in many places polemic with the findings of the famous predecessor. The article shows the character and significance of the work of Stanisław Grzepski, which has become a part of European science for over 200 years as a textbook of numismatics and biblical archeology.

    Il Cristo dell'Apocalisse spesso viene presentato come Re, Giudice e Vincitore. Nell'articolo si cerca di dimostrare la presenza delle caratteristiche di misericordia nella cosi detta lettera alla Chiesa di Laodicea (Ap 3, 14-22). Sembra che il Cristo minacia la comunita religiosa del rigetto per il suo mancato impegno religioso. Uno studio attento del testo rivela che il tono dominante non e quello della minaccia, ma quello di una pedagogia divina che aspetta la conversione e promette la piena comunione dell'amore.

    The paper is an interpretation of Eph 1:15-23 which is a consequence of the shorter version of Eph 1:15 (without the words: τὴν ἀγάπην). It is an attempt to answer the question of who the “saints” are in this verse and the entire pericope, what background (Hellenistic or Judaic) this concept has, and what was the character of the church community in this city in the post-Pauline period. The method used in this paper consists of historical and contextual analysis of lexicographical end ideological material used in the pericope. The first step is a study of the rhetorical structure of Eph as the instrument for interpretation of the role of the pericope in the meaning of the text. The second part of the paper is presented the binary way of exposition: in the language of Judaism and in the Hellenistic terms. From this perspective the category of “saints” is described. From this analysis it is concluded: “saints” are the group belonging to the Judeo-Christian component of the Church, the political substructure of the Church but not in terms of the separation, but of the pluralistic unity.

    Opis:
    In this paper the author presents a study of Susanna’s story (in catholic ca-nonical text Dn 13) from the perspective of identity related to names Juda and Israel. His analysis emphasises both the religious and ethnical meaning and hierarchical relation (Juda within Israel, but Juda above Israel). A Judean woman (Susanna) and a Judean young man (Daniel) save the righteousness of Israel corrupted by its own judges. The idea of the Judean moral elite is a reaction against the Hasmonean political ideology and ambition to re-establish the Israelite state shaped aer a fashion of David‘s Kingdom. Flavius Josephus in his account of the passage of power from the Hasmonean dynasty to Antipater, Herod’s father, mentioned the Judean deputation asking Pompeus to restore a non-monarchical government. The interpretation focused on ethnical and religious identity is in strong opposition to the interpretation emphasising the gender and feministic aspect of the story of Susanna. The weak point of it is the passive role of Susanna and the a-sexu-al role of Daniel.

    Cross in the Jesus’ preaching in commonly interpreted neither as a symbol or as post-Eastern projection produced by Christian community. Similarly the figure of Jesus’ helper, Simon of Cyrene, is frequently interpreted as symbolic one, as the dramatic repetition of Jesus’ indications for his disciples. In this study we try to explain the possibility of real (not symbolic) meaning of the disciple’s cross in the Gospels. We present the texts about cross and disciples divided into three groups: Matt 16, 24 (par. Mark 8, 34; Luke 9, 23), Matt 10, 38 (par. Luke 14, 27), Matt 27, 32 (par. Mc 15, 21; Luke 23, 26). Our analysis of these texts offers the possibility of understanding the preaching of Jesus as eschatological self-revelation of the Lord of Life. In the pericope about Simon we see the historical narrative with relevant information about the members of primitive Christian community presented by Marc. In Luke’s version we recognize the literary rearrangement of this fact in the compatibility with the Jesus’ teaching about disciple’s cross.
