    We present a review of recent experimental and theoretical attempts to realize and investigate Bose-Einstein condensation in systems of cooled alkali atoms. We discuss a second quantized theory that describes quantum optics of such systems. We study in detail: (a) the weak field scattering off the condensate; and (b), the probing of the condensate with short laser pulses.

    We discuss our numerical studies of the low energy excitations of trapped Bose condensates using a Bogoliubov-Hartree treatment. In the zero temperature limit, the lowest few excitation frequencies calculated within the Bogoliubov approximation agree well with the experimental data. Finite temperature results obtained using the Popov approximation display qualitative differences from the experimental data close to the critical temperature region. Details of our numerical approach are presented and comparison with other results is discussed.

    Cold atomic gases placed in optical lattices enable studies of simple condensed matter theory models with parameters that may be tuned relatively easily. When the optical potential is randomized (e.g. using laser speckle to create a random intensity distribution) one may be able to observe Anderson localization of matter waves for non-interacting bosons, the so-called Bose glass in the presence of interactions, as well as the Fermi glass or quantum spin glass for mixtures of fermions and bosons.

    Na podstawie badania osłuchowego klatki piersiowej możliwe jest zdiagnozowanie wielu dolegliwości kardiologicznych w tym także niewydolności mięśnia sercowego. W artykule omówiono problemy napotkane podczas przygotowywania toru pomiarowego mającego za zadanie dokonywanie jednoczesnego pomiaru i akwizycji cyfrowej sygnałów akustycznych, wibracyjnych rejestrowanych na powierzchni skóry pacjenta oraz sygnałów EKG. Przedstawiono rozwiązania układowe zastosowane przy budowaniu stanowiska pomiarowego oraz autorskie oprogramowanie komputerowe - interfejs użytkownika, pozwalający na łatwą i sprawną obsługę wszystkich urządzeń składowych. W szczególności omówiono zagadnienie jednoczesności rejestracji sygnałów próbkowanych w urządzeniach z różnymi generatorami zegarowymi.
    Medical signal measurement and analysis is still a big challenge for engineers. Despite a technological development and increase in processing speed, we still have problems with designing the dedicated measurement devices and proceeding with patient's examination. It is very important to guarantee patient's safety and to obey the law with describe conditions of using medical devices. Heart auscultation is conducted during almost each appointment with the doctor. It is possible to diagnose on its basis many cardiological diseases, including cardiac muscle insufficiency. This article discusses problems, which arise while preparing measuring track for simultaneous measurement and acquisition of the digital acoustic data, vibrations registered on the patient's skin surface and ECG signals. We present system solutions applied during constructing measurement station, as well as author's computer software - interface allowing easy and effective service of all the constituent devices. We attach particular importance to the issue of simultaneous registration of sampling signals in the case of devices with different clockwork generators. The aim of the following work is a description of a station which can be used for the data acquisi-tion. After further processing the data will be used for automatic support of the cardiac muscle insufficiency diagnosis and also for enabling early detection of this disease. This problem, although it seems to be simple to solve in the case of detecting strong lesions, becomes complicated when we speak of patients with slight disorders.

    Opis:
    Chronic heart failure is a syndrome consisting in clinical symptoms that arise as a result of complications of many disease entities. According to the definition it is a condition in which, as a consequence of permanent heart dysfunction, cardiac output is reduced in relation to tissues’ metabolic demand. This results in subjective symptoms or proper cardiac output is sustained over higher filling pressure of the left heart ventricle. The occurrence of disease among adults in Europe and North America is 0.4-2%. Heart dysfunction detected by echocardiography appears with the frequency of 3%, and in people over 60 years of age it doubles with each decade of life, reaching 10% after 80 years of age. The aim of the study is to make an acquisition of fremitus in apex beat place and quantitative evaluation of some of their features which are correlated with the advanced syndrome. We have built the apparatus for the heart signal recording and proposed the original method of its analysis based on the theory of chaos and recurrence plots. It gave us, on the group of 85 patients, sensitivity equal to 0.896 specificity equal to 0.676 and the accuracy of diagnostics of the chronic heart failure equal up to 80%.
