Opis:
Surface properties of composites containing chitosan (Ch), poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) with hydroxyapatite (HAP) were investigated by contact angle measurements and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Thin films of Ch/HAP and Ch/PVA/HAP composites have been formed by casting methods from acetic acid solutions. Measurements of the contact angle for diiodomethane (D), and glycerol (G) on the surface of chitosan films, Ch/HAP and chitosan/PVA/HAP films were made and surface free energy was calculated. It was found that chitosan/HAP or Ch/PVA/HAP blend surface is enriched in high surface energy component i.e. chitosan. The study of composites by AFM showed a completely different morphology when compared with unmodified components. The roughness of composites increase after the addition of hydroxyapatite. This may indicates a strong interaction between the polymeric components and inorganic additive.

In the present paper, the results of viscosity measurements in dilute solutions of microcrystalline chitosan (MCCh) with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) of different degrees of hydrolysis are presented. Microcrystalline chitosan is blended with poly(vinyl alcohol) in aqueous 0.1 MCH3COOH/0.2 M NaCl. Viscosity measurements of dilute polymer solution were carried out in an Ubbelohde capillary viscometer. The final result depends on (I) the thermodynamic goodness of the solvent, on (II) the applied extrapolation method used for determination of the interaction parameters, on (III) the assumed miscibility criteria, on (IV) the degree of hydrolysis of PVA, and on (V) the blend composition.

We present the history of two parallel (and equivalent) discoveries: the axiom of choice and the multiplicative axiom. Firstly, we consider the origins of the formulation of the multiplicative axiom. Next, we concentrate on Russell’s attitude towards the role of this axiom, which is closely related to his philosophy of mathematics. We also highlight some differences between Russell’s and Zermelo’s propositions.

The article presents the works of Polish female artists belonging to the curato- rial-artistic project FEMININE. It can be also called a kind of ongoing interven- tion. The first exhibition took place in 2011 in the gallery Wozownia in Toruńand has continued since then. The cycle functions uninterrupted, deeply em- bedded in the concrete ideas closely related to the feminist art and the female experience entangled in the body, biology and emotions, already reworked in the artistic, cultural and social context. All artists invited to take part in FEM- ININE project have been carefully chosen for several important reasons. First of all, the decision has been made due to the subjective, individual choice and the aesthetic, ethical preferences of the curator. Secondly, it is also important that these talented artists – for various reasons – do not belong to the main- stream of the contemporary art.The presentation of the exhibitions which follows has taken the form of short, personal impressions, created spontaneously after the first contact with the works. Hence, it is more of a notebook with important notations which can be treated as a first step towards deeper scientific analysis, yet to be done.
Prezentuję twórczynie należące do autorskiego projektu kuratorsko- artystycznego FEMININE75, który odbywa się od roku 2011 w Galerii Wozow-nia w Toruniu. Cztery wystawy miały miejsce w Galerii Dworzec Zachodni w Toruniu, w roku 2014 wystawy znowu powróciły do Galerii Wozownia. Pro-jekt ten to swego rodzaju nieprzerwanie trwająca interwencja. Cykl osadzonygłęboko w konkretnych, zdawałoby się już przepracowanych na gruncie arty- styczno-kulturowo-społecznym ideach związanych ze sztuką feministyczną,kobiecym doświadczeniem uwikłanym w ciało, biologię i emocje. Wszystkie artystki biorące udział w FEMININE zostały zaproszone do projektu z kilku ważnych dla mnie powodów. Przede wszystkim kierowałam się subiektyw- nym, indywidualnym wyborem oraz moimi preferencjami estetyczno-etycznymi. Zależało mi również na tym, aby twórczynie nie należały – z róż-nych przyczyn – do mainstreamowego nurtu sztuki. I właściwie ta charakte-rystyka stanowiła klamrę zamykającą moje poszukiwania.

The aim of the article is to describe the present situation regarding immigrants in Norway. Most of the data that I am using withrespect to this matter comes from Internet resources, as most of the statistics are available online only.The moment that can be regarded as crucial for immigrant history in Norwayis the late 60ties of the 20th century. Guest workers from Pakistan came to the country invited by the Norwegian government. In 1975 the so-called ‘innvandringsstop’ (immigration-stop) regulation was introduced to prevent flooding the country with incoming foreigners. The statistics show that no such significant migration was observed again until 2007–2008 when Polish workers began to come to Norway in large groups. Presently, the largest immigrant groups in Norway are Poles, Pakistani, Germans and Iraqi.There are four important reasons for migration: economic, family, political(refugees) and educational. Work and family are definitely the most commonones.The law concerning immigration was established in 1988 and it is called‘Utlendingsforskriften’. Moreover, the Norwegian immigration policy respectsall the laws and regulations in force in all the EU countries and that apply to the members of the United Nations organization. Nowadays, the Norwegian government is working on a new immigration law that is planned to be introduced in 2010.

This paper presents Wacław Sierpiński – the first advocate of the axiom of choice. We focus on the philosophical and mathematical topics related to the axiom of choice which were considered by Sierpiński. We analyze some of his papers to show how his results effected the debate over Zermelo’s axiom. Sierpiński’s impact on this discussion is of particular importance since he was the first who tried to explore consequences of the axiom of choice thoroughly and asserted its undoubted significance to mathematics as a whole.

The main aim of the paper was to draw attention to Wacław Sierpiński as not only a great mathematician but also a philosopher. We undertook the attempt of reconstruction of Sierpiński’s philosophy. To aim this goal we mainly based ourselves on Sierpiński’s habilitation lecture entitled The concept of correspondence in mathematics. The complementation of Sierpiński’s philosophical views were conclusions from his mathematical achievements, his scheme of research on The Axiom of Choice, and his attitude to this axiom.

In the present study the results of rheological measurements and atomic force microscopy (AFM) of polymer composites with montmorillonite (MMT) are presented. Chitosan is blended with synthetic polymers and inorganic additives in acetic acid solution and this solution is cast to prepare the mixture film. Flow measurements were made on a Bohlin Visco 88 rotary viscometer in the temperature range 25ºC-40ºC. The apparent shear viscosity and rheological parameters of the unmodified components and their composites were determined and discussed. Polymer films were examined using a Scanning Probe Microscopy SPM production Veeco. The obtained results suggest that the modification of several properties of polymer composites is a consequence of the interaction between the polymeric components and inorganic additives.

In the present work, the results of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) studies of films of chitosan acetate (ChA), polyacrylamide (PAM), and their mixtures are presented. The morphology of the ChA and PAM films and their mixtures was studied by tappingmode atomic force microscopy (AFM). The topography images were considered by determining the root mean square (RMS) deviation in the image data. The study of mixtures by AFM showed a completely different morphology when compared with pure components. The roughness of mixtures increases with the increase of ChA content but is significantly reduced after UV exposure. This may indicate a strong interaction between the polymeric components. The FTIR spectroscopy also supports the obtained results. The miscibility of polymer mixtures is related to interactions between the functional groups of the polymeric components.

The surface properties of chitosan acetate (ChA), polyacrylamide (PAM) and ChA/PAM mixtures have been investigated by the tapping-mode atomic force microscopy (AFM) and monitored by contact angle measurements. Chitosan is blended with polyacrylamide in acetic acid solution and this solution is cast to prepare the mixture film. Measurements of the contact angle for two different liquids (diiodomethane and glycerol) on the surface of chitosan acetate. The surface free energy (γs) as well as dispersive (gsd) and polar (gsp) components were calculated from contact angle values by Owens-Wendt methods using an appropriate computer program. The values of polar and dispersive components of surface free energy show that PAM films are more polar than chitosan acetate films. In the case of ChA/PAM mixtures, the values of surface free energy and polar component are reduced significantly compared with pure polymers. This behavior indicates rather hydrophobic character of this surface. The changes of topography images were considered by determining the root mean square (RMS) deviation in the image data. The study of blends by AFM showed a completely different morphology when compared with pure components. The roughness of blends increases with the increase of ChA content. This may indicates a strong interaction between the polymeric components.

In the present paper, the results of rheological measurements in solutions of chitosan (Ch) with partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) are presented. Aqueous acetic acid, lactic acid and aqueous acetic acid/NaCl were used as solvents for chitosan, HPAM and Ch/HPAM solution blends. The criterion of miscibility of solution blends, based on the additivity rule of apparent shear viscosity (ηa) has been discussed. The rheological parameters from power law (Ostwald de Waele model) and activation energy of viscous flow (Ea) have been calculated from the flow curves and Arrhenius plots, respectively. It was found that studied polymer solutions exhibited the non-Newtonian behaviour with shear-thinning and/or shear-thickening areas. The final result depends on the thermodynamic goodness of the solvent and on the blend composition.

In the present paper, the results of thermal analysis (DSC and TGA) and atomic force microscopy studies of microcrystalline chitosan (MCCh) with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) are presented. Microcrystalline chitosan is blended with poly(vinyl alcohol) in acetic acid solution and this solution is cast to prepare the blend film. From thermal curves the thermal transitions: Tg, Tm and characteristic temperatures of decomposition: Tdi, Tmax have been determined and compared. The influence of the degree of PVA hydrolysis on the thermal properties of blend systems has been discussed. The surface properties of the MCCh and PVA films and their blends have been studied by tapping-mode atomic force microscopy (AFM). The changes of topography images were considered by determining the root mean square (RMS) deviation in the image data. The obtained results suggested that in solid MCCh/PVA mixtures the components are poorly miscible.

Olympe de Gouges i jej Deklaracja Praw Kobiet i Obywatelki (1791) - po raz pierwszy została całkowicie przetłumaczona na język polski. W swojej deklaracji de Gouges wskazała na niekongruencje francuskiej konstytucji i nieadekwatność prób formułowania powszechnych praw w tym czasie. W bezkompromisowy sposób pokazała, że domniemana równość praw dotyczy tylko tych podmiotów, które są białymi, dorosłymi mężczyznami, i że pozorny uniwersalizm rewolucyjnych idei opiera się na wykluczeniu dużej części społeczeństwa. Dla niej ostatecznym wyrazem wolności była wolność słowa; postępując w ten sposób spędziła dziesięć lat swojego życia na egzekwowaniu tego prawa. Istota politycznego ucisku była, jej zdaniem, zawarta w instytucji małżeństwa, którą postrzegała jako „miejsce niekończącej się tyranii”. Podobnie jak Mary Wollstonecraft w Vindication of the Rights of Women (1792), de Gouges udowodniła, że chytrość i słabość kobiet są konsekwencją ich skompromitowanej pozycji w strukturach zalegalizowanej prawnie „unii seksualnej” z mężczyznami. Podobnie jak Wollstonecraft, walczyła z socjalnymi niedociągnięciami tej instytucji, która sprawiała, że kobiety zaniedbywały swoje wykształcenie i ograniczały się do wąskiego kręgu swoich własnych spraw, odrzucając swoje obowiązki obywatelskie. Odnosząc się do idei Rousseau, de Gouges zaproponowała zastąpienie tradycyjnego małżeństwa „umową społeczną” opartą na równości praw i obowiązków. Jej pisma, zarówno literackie, jak i polityczne, wyraźnie zmierzały w kierunku współczesnej filozofii feministycznej. Była jedyną kobietą, która została skazana na śmierć w czasie Wielkiego Terroru.
Olympe de Gouges with The Declaration of the Rights of Woman and Female Citizen (1791) - for the first time entirely translated into Polish. In her declaration, de Gouges pointed to the incongruities of the French Constitution and the inadequacy of the attempts to formulate universal rights at that time. In an uncompromising way, she showed that the supposed equality of rights concerns only those subjects that are white, adult men, and that the apparent universalism of the revolutionary ideas rests on the exclusion of large parts of society. To her, the ultimate expression of freedom was freedom of speech; she thus spent a decade of her life on enforcing this right. The essence of political oppression was, in her opinion, created in the institution of marriage, which she incriminated as "a site of unending tyranny". Similarly to Mary Wollstonecraft in A Vindication of the Rights of Women (1792), de Gouges proved that the slyness and weakness of women are a consequence of their compromised position in the structures of the legalized "sexual union" with men. Like Wollstonecraft, she fought against the social shortfalls of this institution, which made women neglect their education and constrain themselves to the narrow circle of domestic affairs, rejecting their civil duties. Referring to the ideas of Rousseau, de Gouges proposed to replace the traditional marriage with "a social contract" based on the equality of rights and duties. Her writings, both literary and political, clearly headed towards contemporary feminist philosophy. She was the only woman to be sentenced to death during the Terror.
