Opis:
Sport fulfils both physical and mental needs. Hymns of soccer fans belong to expressive manifestation of club symbolism on a par with flags and club emblems. They are simultaneously an example of expression of emotions for one’s personal or national team. Contents of these new texts are clearly organised because portraits of both teams in those songs are distinct. Lexis and order in which portrayed world is presented seam to announce stereotypization, music-textual variation and linguistic image of the team. That dynamism presents spontaneity and vital folklore strength of youth fan subculture. Moreover, mentioned phenomenon signalizes metamorphosis of modern mass culture in modern world. The research permits to distinguish the following groups of texts: hymns, songs, melorecitation and mixed type. Rigorous holding of the original song in stadium hits happens rarely – only among those reminding hymn on the basis of musical arrangement and because of high stylistics of the tune. They are not filled with vulgarisms and bring certain innovation of the text and the elevated style tone down aggressiveness of the statement. Historical sports events and religiosity of the society imprint on them. Christmas carols are very popular - one can perceive full desacralization and profanation of Christian beliefs. Another popular way of creating stadium songs is referring only to known melodies of Slavic popular music; text brings attractive content using new popular phraseology and imagery that stereotype information scheme. Authors reach depreciated appraisal thanks to recalling names of nationalities of which soccer representatives did not receive unique success and popularity of the masters. Melodies of neighbouring cultures are being used for the funny travestation for example change of melodies tempo brings out an amusement, a joke or musical trick. Juxtaposition of elevated style (hymns)and lower styles (popular songs) builds and establishes stereotypes. In the text created by fans knowledge about the world is taken without any criticism and is used in communication of one social group or the multicultural communication, creates kindness climate for their soccer team. It may also represent unnecessary aggression towards an opponent or on the both sides of the game (in case of weak play of the favourite team). On the other hand word-musical manipulation establishes and creates the view of the soccer world and also brings it’s own taxation. Wide arrange of metaphors, that enrich the language is used to reach that aim. Metaphors are substrate influencing everyday communication of soccer fans and they enable adaptation of already existing songs for the new situation of sociolect discourse.

Opis:
Κριός for Hermes composed in the deme Erchia 4. of the day of Thargelion does not belong, as S. Dow believed, to the same category of offerings as rams for 12 drachmas of the same calendar. Both in literary texts and in the sphere of religion this word denotes a tup, an unslaughtered ram, the guide of a flock. One has to distinguish three kinds of offerings from sheep: οἷς for 10 drachmas, that is a ewe; οἷς for 12 drachmas, that is ewe, probably a slaughtered ram, a wether; and κριός for 10 drachmas. A regularity in the ritual calendar of the deme Erchia is confirmed when analyzing other inscriptions from the Attic territories. One may then challenge the common opinion that in the Attic inscriptive texts the word οἷς always means a ewe, since a ram is denoted by κριός, and the fixed difference in price between sheep offered to male and female deities is attributed rather the age of an offering than its sex (J.H. Oliver, J.von Prott). From the religious point of view one cannot explain such a distribution of sheep among gods. It is much more easier to understand this difference while assuming that the determining factor here, similar as in Erchia, is the animal's sex. The female deity was denoted by a ewe, the male by a wether, that is a slaughtered ram, defined in the sources as οἷς, and in particular cases as a tup. One should remember that not all Athenian fasti recorded their rites which made a difference between the three kinds of offerings from a sheep. The inscription of the deme Thorikos (AC 52 (1983)), which has recently been discovered, may serve as an example of the latter. Although it does not contain offerings from κριός, nevertheless it confirms a possibility to denote rams by the word οἷς. One may assume, however, that when a distinction between a wether and a tup was introduced it was grounded in the cult.

Opis:
The first part of the paper (“Roczniki Humanistyczne”, 43 (1995), fasc. 3, pp. 25-39) is devoted to an analysis of the meaning of the word κρίος in the Greek leges sacrae; part two contains an interpretation of the offering, made of ram, for Hermes in the context of a local feast celebrated by the deme of Erchia on the fourth day of the month Thargelion. As a point of departure, the religious analysis of its significance has taken the place which the feast occupied in the structure of the ritual year of the deme. The religious association of pythaists combines the feast under discussion with two-day celebrations on the seventh and eighth days of the month Gamelion which were devoted to Apollo in his initiating function. Now the time of offering (the “Apolline” month Thargelion and the proximity of the state Thargelia) points to the cleansing character of the rituals of the deme of Erchia. The choice of the fourth day has a religious motivation and is conditioned by the role which Hermes played, a god who took the lead on the way of a cleansing pilgrimage or procession within the deme. Keryx was especially important. In the cult of Hermes he played the role of a priest and, with his religious knowledge, regulated the course of rites. To put six deities in one festive time leads to a conclusion that the majority of offerings on the fourth day of the month Thargelion are connected with the idea of cleansing the local community. The main role in this act was played by the local cult association of pythaists, an association which by way of a ritual renewed the local sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. The association fulfilled in the deme essential sacerdotal functions during two-day celebrations from the beginning of the month Gamelion. They had a character of an initiating feast and it is perhaps due to this fact that Anaks and their father Zeus were present among the deities receiving offering during the feast under analysis.

cultural turn
a linguistic image of the world
Opis:
In the recent years, a turn towards interdisciplinary research in which proper names are presentedas an interpretation of reality and a mirror of historical, political, social and cultural processes has been observed in onomastics. Names can reflect a popular vision of the world presenting its anthropocentric conceptualization reconstructed on the basis of knowledge, beliefs, valuation systems and cultural experiences of people. Thus the cultural analysis of onyms comprises notions of a linguistic image of the world, point of view, profiling, conceptualization and categorization of ideas, valuation, stereotype and prototype, connotation, metaphor and metonymy. Special attention is also paid to the secondary functions of proper names which, apart from indicating and identifying objects, can also perform metaphorical, expressive, ludic, pragmatic and marketing functions. The so-called cultural onomastics focuses on the study of proper names in this aspect. The analysis of onyms is shifted in it towards the creator and interpreter, presenting the manner of conceptualizing a selected fragment of reality in the categories of a consolidated mental pattern. Interdisciplinary research develops in many directions, making use of the methods and notions of such sciences as sociology, psychology, folk medicine, cognitivism, ethnology, folkloristics, anthropology, religious studies, neurology. Cultural onomastics concentrates on a variety of proper names belonging to the fields of anthroponymy, toponymy, media onymy and chrematonymy. Furthermore, the new research fields necessitate changes in the traditional methodology as well as consideration of a broad social and cultural context within a particular system of values.
