Opis:
Cloud computing is an approach to computing that leverages the efficient pooling of on- demand, self-managed virtual infrastructure that is consumed as a service. The launch of this model of data processing requires the appropriate hardware and software infrastructure, which currently are very expensive. Another problem is the law that is not adapted to modern IT solutions. Nevertheless, cloud computing is the fastest growing part of the IT market. This article provides information about benefits and limitations of public and private cloud computing. It focuses on definition of cloud computing, describing proposed solutions for private cloud computing offered by leading software manufacturers and financial and law factors that can decide about successful migration to the cloud.

Opis:
With the rapid growth of schemes and initiatives to promote e-mobility and numerous measures taken to ensure its quick and effective implementation, there is a wide range of technological and non-technological problems, especially organisational, economic, legal and social in nature, that have to be handled by national and local governments all over the world. This article addresses some of the technological and organisational challenges for electromobility. The key technology-related issues to be coped with are the need for longer ranges of electric vehicles (EVs), shorter charging times and smart power grids (because of a higher demand for electrical energy). Another important problem to be solved urgently is the high battery weight, affecting the vehicle dynamics. Because of the excessive weight of the battery pack, there is a risk of its displacement during a crash, which may jeopardize the safety on the road. The next big concern, also associated with safety, is protection against electrical and fire hazards in the event of a collision. The most important of all the organisational challenges related to EVs is the necessity to create networks of charging stations. Their insufficient number and unsatisfactory distribution are strong barriers hampering the development of e-mobility. The organisational measures also include privileges such as access to bus lanes, already offered in some countries. Finally, there is the need to urgently train a large number of electricians to test and maintain EVs, the need to create a recycling system for used EV batteries, and the need to deal with the organisational aspects of the development of smart power grids.

Opis:
The extracellular matrix components are differentially distributed among various structures of the umbilical cord. Wharton's jelly is especially rich in collagens and growth factors. Cathepsin B is a major cysteine protease involved in collagen degradation, as well as in the activation of precursor forms of other collagenolytic enzymes and growth factors. We assessed the activity and expression of cathepsin B in the umbilical cord arteries, veins and Wharton's jelly. Extracts of separated umbilical cord components were subjected to an activity assay with the use of specific fluorogenic substrate. The expression of cathepsin B protein was qualitatively evaluated by Western immunoblotting and quantitatively determined with an immunoenzymatic method. The total cathepsin B activity and content calculated per gram of DNA were higher in Wharton's jelly than in the umbilical cord vessels, and the latter parameter was the lowest in the umbilical cord arteries. Moreover, the expression and the activity of latent cathepsin B (following activation by pepsin digestion) calculated per gram of DNA were the highest in Wharton's jelly and the lowest in the umbilical cord arteries. High expression and activity of latent, pepsin-activatable cathepsin B related to DNA content in Wharton's jelly seem to reflect the stimulation of its cells by high amounts of collagen I and growth factors.

Opis:
This paper presents the results of the examination of accelerated carbonation of concrete mixes made with CEM III / A blast furnace slag cement and the addition of fly ash. The test program was developed using an experiment design with two factors: a water-binder ratio and a fly-ash / cement ratio. Carbonation depth measurements were carried out according to FprCEN/TS 12390-12 (CO2 concentration = 4%, T = 20°C, RH = 55%). Associated tests were also carried out, including compressive strength, porosity, depth of absorption, water penetration depth, and capillary suction. Analysis of the test results allowed us to determine the influence of binder composition on concrete carbonization depth under standard test conditions. The results show that the carbonation depth increases along with the increase in the W/B ratio and as a result of the increase in the fly ash content in the binder. A mathematical model was developed to describe the carbonation process over time, which can predict the depth and rate of concrete carbonation. Furthermore, it was found that there is no close relationship between other properties tested (e.g. strength) and the depth of the carbonated concrete.
W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań przyspieszonej karbonatyzacji mieszanek betonowych wytworzonych cementem żużlowym wielkopiecowym CEM III/A z dodatkiem popiołu lotnego.

Opis:
Sharing research data from public funding is an important topic, especially now, during times of global emergencies like the COVID-19 pandemic, when we need policies that enable rapid sharing of research data. Our aim is to discuss and review the revised Draft of the OECD Recommendation Concerning Access to Research Data from Public Funding. The Recommendation is based on ethical scientific practice, but in order to be able to apply it in real settings, we suggest several enhancements to make it more actionable. In particular, constant maintenance of provided software stipulated by the Recommendation is virtually impossible even for commercial software. Other major concerns are insufficient clarity regarding how to finance data repositories in joint private-public investments, inconsistencies between data security and user-friendliness of access, little focus on the reproducibility of submitted data, risks related to the mining of large data sets, and sensitive (particularly personal) data protection. In addition, we identify several risks and threats that need to be considered when designing and developing data platforms to implement the Recommendation (e.g., not only the descriptions of the data formats but also the data collection methods should be available). Furthermore, the non-even level of readiness of some countries for the practical implementation of the proposed Recommendation poses a risk of its delayed or incomplete implementation.

Opis:
Driving style and driver behaviour are important in evaluating city bus drivers. Buses are one of the means of public transportation in cities, used by millions of people. The purpose of this study was to present a model for preliminary classification of driving style of the professional drivers based on averaged maximum values of lateral and longitudinal acceleration recorded during regular work. First, the recorded acceleration values of 69 city bus drivers were analysed. Then, the correlation between the acceleration values and the age and experience of the city bus drivers was examined. Based on the results of the preliminary classification of drivers, extreme values for both lateral acceleration and longitudinal acceleration (deceleration and acceleration) were obtained by 3 drivers out of the 69 tested. The study also examined the relationship between averaged values of maximum lateral and longitudinal acceleration and driver age and experience. Based on the correlation results, showed that age and the number of years of holding a driver’s license are not significantly related to acceleration. Therefore, the method can be used to analyse drivers regardless of their age and experience.
