Opis:
Aim/purpose – This study examines the relationship between staff turnover and performance in the microfinance industry in a dynamic perspective and investigates some contingency factors that moderate this relationship. Design/methodology/approach – We ran random-effects and GMM models based on a database of 2,814 branch-month observations from a specific microfinance organization. Findings – It takes three months to see a significant negative impact of turnover on the volume of a branch’s loan portfolio. Moreover, it takes four months after the turnover event for this negative impact to be counterbalanced. After four months, turnover stops having negative consequences and even becomes advantageous in terms of loan portfolio growth, but this positive effect lasts only one month. The effect of turnover thus appears to be particularly limited in time. Finally, we find that the negative relationship between turnover rate and performance is weakened by the seniority level of departing loan officers and by the recruitment rate. Originality/value/contribution – First, this paper examines the duration of the consequences of turnover event, which is poorly studied in the literature. Second, it focuses on microfinance, an industry where relational capital is of high importance. Third, it extends the theory on turnover by highlighting that the seniority level of departing employees is a moderator in the relationship between turnover and organizational performance.

Opis:
Under the deep impression of the 20th century’s worst excesses and sheer horror, Robert Merle, an engaged, humanist novelist, comes to question the humanity of man. As a popular novelist he imprints this reaction on fashionable genres, such as science fiction and dystopia, in which dolphins Fa and Bi are more informed than the humans (An Animal Endowed with Reason/ The Day of the Dolphin 1967), a species that is not really worth perpetuating (The Protected Men/ The Virility Factor, 1974). In 1972, in Malevil, Merle veers towards post-apocalyptic fiction, imagining a nuclear catastrophe that has brought man back to a primary condition; it is a situation that allows him to conceive of the political and moral crisis at the heart of the city. Beyond this classical revealing function, though, the crisis heuristics brings Merle face to face with the blind spots of his ideological reference, so that the text eventually puts in a crisis situation the very progressive positions exhibited by the author, curbing the text to the reactionary positions of a Bajavel in Ravage/ Ashes, Ashes (1943).

Opis:
According to the critics, this novel by Aragon was a turning point in his works. While the novel series known as The Real World was allegedly defined as a form of (Socialist) realism, Aragon then went beyond the strict boundaries of the novel as a genre in his late period. In this novel, the rules of enunciation play a major part in the blurry building‐up of a semantic structure. The structure relies on internal monologue – even, to widen the scope, on free indirect speech or literary devices giving free course to subjectivity. The term “intersubjectivity” may even be used, as it is quite obvious the fictionalised biography of French painter Théodore Géricault is closely intertwined with Aragon’s own life. It relates the career of an artist struggling with the torments of History, as well as the awakening of his political and moral conscience.

Transpozycja dydaktyczna i stosunek do wiedzy odsyłają nas do antropologii przedmiotu.
With this article we aim to demonstrate that the link between didactics and sociology could reduce inequalities at school. We think we must break up with the partition between the different sciences and move towards a mutualised knowledge. This new scientific knowledge will contribute, particularly in France, to reduce school failure due to the heterogeneity between the pupils, to take into account knowledge as a social fact and doing so contribute with the didacticians to integrate in the didactic transposition the personal relationship of the learner to knowledge. The didactic transposition and the relationship to knowledge refer us to an anthropology of the subject.

Opis:
When the big leap forward of computer technology took place for the general public in the 80s and 90s, virtual reality technology (VR) was touted as the “next big thing” that digital media would bring into our lives. Janet Murray’s influential book Hamlet on the Holodeck (1997) explored the possibility of turning narrative into the “immersive, interactive experience generated by a computer” that defines VR. But VR did not live up to its expectations, and after the year 2000, it faded from the radar of popular interest. It regained attention around 2011 when Mark Zuckerberg, the founder/CEO of Facebook, bought Oculus Rift, the maker of a relatively cheap and lightweight head-mounted display. Currently available VR narratives are distinguished from other digital narratives through three-dimensional images, interactive panoramic representations, and the ability to manipulate our experience of our own body. In this article I discuss three projects that use some of these resources in order to assess the storytelling potential of the medium: Clouds Over Sidra, a documentary about a camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan; Hard World for Small Things, a fictionalized version of the shooting of an unarmed black man by white policemen; and VRwandlung, a project that puts the user in the situation of the hero of Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, who wakes up one day to discover that he has been transformed into a giant insect. Basing my judgment of this limited corpus, I assess the potential of VR narrative with respect to four kinds of immersion: ludic, spatial, temporal and emotional.

Julien Green immerses the reader in some oppressive boredom‐filled atmosphere, he also experienced. He was used to boredom, turning into acedia, taedium vitae, melancholy, nostalgia, overpowering neurasthenia, all this linked with his mother’s early death, the flesh/mind conflict or, even the exarcerbated awareness of a void existence. Acedia – a genuine individual experience – leaves the Greenian character facing an empty, pointless existence. Acedia spreads its invisible tentacles around the character who feels how empty life without God is. Apathetic, lazy, idle and weak, he flees all inner life, causing his immutable loneliness. This aridity is seen in an empty town and the immutable life he sinks into. The fatal row he witnessed, reveals his cowardice and creates a gap in his consciousness : the image of a strong, respectable man cracks turning acedia into an ordeal condemning him to painfully cohabitate with himself thus annihilating all ambition and selftranscendence.

This paper aims at examining the paradox expressed by Marie Darrieussecq when she states that “even in [her] novels of absence, there is material” in Il faut beaucoup aimer les hommes. The narrative takes shape around Solange, an actress, whose existence is threatened as her own physique decays, consumed by her passion for Kouhouesso which makes her a fading ghostly figure. The storytelling of the organic body has to be considered under three aspects : phenomenology, deterritorialization and representation.

In Itxassou in the French Basque Country, various forms of the heritagization of the cherries are coexisting : festivals, derivatives and ‚small-scale’ heritages are some of them. Three groups of people are taking part in the heritagization system. With the development of those various forms, an important matter appeared: the legitimacy of granting an heritage status. Different dimensions are intertwined in the heritagization of the cherries: the ‘territory’, the ‘terroir’ and the ‘land’. This study deals with the ‚land’ part of the subject which is closely related to the model of the Basque home, called the ‚Etxe’. The ‚Etxe’ ‚is telling’ its inhabitants what they can hand down. On the one hand, the ‚Etxe’ seems to directly grant a heritage status, as it enables to operate a selection between various items. On the other hand, the ‚Etxe’ seems to show its inhabitants how to grant a heritage status.

Opis:
The majority of proteins are unable to translocate into the cell interior. Hence for peptide- and protein-based therapeutics a direct intracytoplasmic delivery with the aid of transducing agents is an attractive approach. We wanted to deliver to the cell interior a putatively cytotoxic protein VPg. Protein transduction was achieved in vitro with three different commercial products. However, in our hands, delivery of various control proteins without known deleterious effects, as well as of protein VPg, always induced cell death. Finally, we used a novel transducing peptide Wr-T, which was not toxic to cultured cells, even in a quite large range of concentrations. Most importantly, control protein delivered to cells in culture did not display any toxicity while VPg protein exerted a strong cytotoxic effect. These data show that results obtained with cell-penetrating agents should be interpreted with caution.

Opis:
In 1947, Julio Cortázar writes “Teoría del túnel,” an essay in which he expresses his desire to overhaul literature, emphasizing the need for the writer, whom he refers to as a “rebel,” to distance himself from certain literary models which he considers fossilised. The essay comes through as an invitation to change one’s writing habits and, at the same time, strive to develop a language capable of depicting man in all his complexity. The following paper demonstrates that El Examen (1950) and Diario de Andrés Fava - a diary initially meant to be part of the novel - are experimental fields that enable the author to explore the possibilities of transgressing the traditional literary codes and implement the proposals he had put forward a few years before in “Teoría del túnel.” Key words: Cortázar, novel, transgression, literary codes.

Opis:
Etymological and Historical Reconsideration of the French Vocable dialectologie Etimologia prossima of the French prevails in this methodological approach in order to show how the vocable was introduced into the French lexicon. With a modern view on the etymology we can’t just present the etymon but it’s essential to build the historical link between the etymon and the vocable that we describe. First, it’s necessary to consider what the main etymological dictionaries propose (for example FEW and TLF) to reveal what are the gaps for a correct description. So we must give a first attestation. Indeed dictionaries only proposed so far an event marking the field of dialectology but not a first term’s attestation. When we examine the first attestation of the French vocable it’s possible to see that fr. dialectologie is a borrowing from German and not a French creation.
