    The aim of the study was to diagnose the main trends of changes in land cover in selected communes of Polish metropolitan areas. Detailed studies were conducted in deliberately selected housing estates located in the core of metropolitan area (at least one housing estate) and communes located directly at the border of cities and located on the outskirts of metropolitan areas. The examined communes also differed in the quality of natural conditions of agricultural production. The study used LANDSAT 5 TM and RapidEye satellite images from three limited-time registrations (1996/1999, 2011, 2016/2017). On the basis of remote sensing data, changes in land use were specified by presenting them in a graphic form as compilation of numerical maps. The analyses were performed on processed images (colour compositions), which were subjected to supervised classification using the maximum-likelihood technique. The quality control of supervised classification showed accuracy of 89.3% for LANDSAT 5 TM scene analyses and 91.8% for RapidEye images. Kappa coefficient for the discussed classification was: 0.84 (LANDSAT TM) and 0.89 (Rapid Eye). The results obtained for individual metropolitan areas allow to identify the directions of changes (Land Use Change Cover) taking place in them, with consideration to specificity of each of them.

    The aim of the study was to diagnose the main trends of land cover changes around urban agglomerations over the last twenty years (1997–2016) on the example of Tri-City, and to present them statistically and graphically in the form of compilation of numerical maps. The research was performed on the basis of remotely sensed data: LANDSAT 5 TM satellite imagery from 1997 and RapidEye from two records (2011, 2016). The metropolises of Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, constituting the core of metropolitan area (MA), and municipalities belonging to the Tri-City MA located in its vicinity were selected for detailed analyses – the inner zone of 2 communes and the outer zone, also of 2 communes (MA outskirts). In the selected metropolitan area, communes with good and poor natural conditions for agricultural production were studied. The analyses were performed on processed images (colour compositions), which were subjected to supervised classification with the maximum likelihood technique. The quality control of supervised classification showed an accuracy of 87.2% for LANDSAT 5 TM scene analyses and 93.8% for RapidEye imagery. The Kappa coefficient for the discussed classification was, respectively: 0.85 (LANDSATTM) and 0.93 (RapidEye). The conducted analyses showed that in the communes there were changes in the way of using arable land and grassland. The greatest changes took place in communes with a low Agricultural Production Space Valuation Ratio (APSVR). Grassland, and to a lesser extent areas with scattered development, replaced arable land. In Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia, belonging to the TriCity, the greatest changes over 20 years took place in arable land, which altogether diminished by 17%, and forest land (13% in total). All this to the benefit of grassland (increase by 23%) and built-up areas (10% in total in all cities).
    Celem opracowania było zdiagnozowanie głównych trendów przemian pokrycia terenu wokół aglomeracji miejskich, na przykładzie Trójmiasta, na przestrzeni ostatnich dwudziestu lat (1997-2016) oraz ich statystyczne i graficzne zaprezentowanie w postaci kompilacji map numerycznych. Badania zostały wykonane w oparciu o dane teledetekcyjne: zobrazowania satelitarne LANDSAT 5 TM z 1997 roku i RapidEye z dwóch rejestracji czasowych (2011, 2016). Do szczegółowych analiz wybrano metropolie Gdańsk, Gdynię i Sopot stanowiące rdzeń OM oraz gminy należące do obszaru metropolitarnego (OM) trójmiejskiego położone w jego sąsiedztwie – strefa wewnętrzna (2 gminy), a także na jego obrzeżach (strefa zewnętrzna), także 2 gminy. W danym obszarze metropolitarnym badane były gminy o dobrych i słabych warunkach przyrodniczych produkcji rolniczej. Analizy przeprowadzono na przetworzonych obrazach (kompozycjach barwnych), które poddano klasyfikacji nadzorowanej przy użyciu techniki największego prawdopodobieństwa. Kontrola jakości klasyfikacji nadzorowanej wykazała dokładność na poziomie 87,2% w przypadku analiz scen LANDSAT 5 TM oraz 93,8% dla zobrazowań RapidEye. Współczynnik Kappa dla omawianej klasyfikacji wyniósł odpowiednio: 0,85 (LANDSAT TM) oraz 0,93 (RapidEye). Prowadzone analizy wykazały, iż w badanych gminach zachodziły zmiany w sposobie użytkowania gruntów ornych i użytków zielonych. Największe zmiany nastąpiły w gminach o niskim WWRPP (Współczynnik Waloryzacji Rolniczej Przestrzeni Produkcyjnej). Użytki zielone, a w mniejszym stopniu tereny o zabudowie rozproszonej zastąpiły grunty orne. W Gdańsku, Sopocie i Gdyni należących do Trójmiasta największe zmiany na przestrzeni 20 lat zaszły w na terenach gruntów ornych, których ubyło łącznie 17% oraz użytków leśnych (ubyło ich bowiem łącznie 13 %). Wszystko to na korzyść terenów zielonych (przybyło ich 23%) oraz terenów zabudowanych, których powierzchnia zwiększyła się łącznie we wszystkich miastach o 10%.

    The aim of the study was to diagnose the main trends of the changes in land cover around the urban agglomerations, as illustrated with the example of Lublin, over the last twenty years (1998–2016), as well as their statistical and graphical presentation in the form of digital maps compilation. The project was conducted on the basis of the remote sensing data: RapidEye and LANDSAT 5 TM satellite imagery from three temporal records (1998, 2009–11, 2016–17). Detailed research was carried out in purposefully selected municipalities. The performed analyses showed that in the studied municipalities some changes in the use of arable land and grassland occurred. The largest loss in terms of area share was recorded mainly in the arable land. At the core of the metropolitan area, i.e. in the city of Lublin, over the last 20 years the share of arable land in the total area decreased by almost 11 percentage points (p.p.). In the municipalities located directly at the border with Lublin, this loss was much lower, and was equal 4–5 p.p. Slightly larger changes occurred in municipalities located further from the core, where both in the category of very good and slightly weaker natural conditions, losses of arable land were greater than in municipalities located directly at the core’s border of the metropolitan area (MA).

    Calculating the volume for various types of surfaces and materials is important for many branches of engineering sciences. Correct volume calculation often has a significant impact on the cost and time of a given project. These type of calculations are already applied at the design level. Measurement of cubature is crucial, for example, in construction and mining. The paper presents an analysis of and calculation results for measuring the volume of soil masses using different measurement techniques, which include: LIDAR (in this case of terrestrial and airborne laser scanning), photos taken with the use of UAV and measurements in the GNSS method. The object of the study was an earth mound located in the Park Dębnicki in Kraków. Relative volume error has been calculated in relation to the terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) method. For each of the tested methods, the error remained within the limits allowed by the standards and amounted to 0.2% for airborne laser scanning (ALS), 2.3% for photos obtained from UAVs and 3.4% for the GNNS-RTK method. The results of tests are presented in graphic and tabular forms. The obtained results were compared and the most advantageous measurement techniques to be used in determining the cubic capacity of this particular research object was indicated.
    Obliczenia objętości dla różnego rodzaju powierzchni oraz materiałów jest ważnym zagadnieniem mającym miejsce w wielu gałęziach nauk inżynieryjnych. Odpowiednie obliczenie objętości często ma duży wpływ na koszty oraz czas wykonania projektu. Tego typu obliczenia wykorzystuje się już na etapie projektowym. Pomiar kubatury jest bardzo istotny między innymi w budownictwie czy górnictwie. W publikacji przedstawiono analizę oraz wyniki obliczeń pomiaru objętości mas ziemnych za pomocą różnych technik pomiarowych, do których należą: LIDAR (w tym wypadku naziemny oraz lotniczy skaning laserowy), zdjęcia wykonane za pomocą UAV oraz pomiar metodą GNSS. Obiektem opracowania był kopiec ziemny znajdujący się w Parku Dębnickim w Krakowie. Porównano ze sobą otrzymane wyniki oraz wskazano, która z technik pomiarowych jest najkorzystniejsza do zastosowania przy określeniu kubatury tego konkretnego obiektu badań.

    Currently, the possibilities offered by measurement techniques allow development of both cities in the form of 3D models as well as models of small and large architecture objects. Depending on the needs, the scale of an examined object or the intended use of the final product, geodesy finds ready-made measurement methods. If one wants to work out a 3D model of a building object in detail, the most accurate way is to use laser scanning technology. However, there are situations in which limitations resulting from the terrain layout or the structure of the building preclude to obtain full information about its shape. In such situations, the solution is to integrate data from various measurement devices. If creating a full 3D model of large buildings, the best choice to complete data, especially the roof of the object, is to use an unmanned aerial platform, because the resolution of images made on a low altitude is good enough to obtain a satisfactory effect in the form of a point cloud. The research used integration of data obtained at low altitude from two unmanned aerial vehicles, Fly-Tech DJI S1000 and DJI Phantom 3 Advanced - using various types of missions - with data recorded with the Leica ScanStation P40 terrestrial laser scanner. The data was integrated by giving them a common coordinate system - in this case the 2000 system, for the grid points measured in the field with the GNSS technique, and the use of Cyclone, Metashape and Pix4D software for this purpose. Combined point clouds were used for 3D modelling of the sacred object with Bentley CAD software. The accuracy with which data integration was performed and errors resulting from the use of various measurement techniques were determined. The result of the study is a 3D model of the Church of Our Lady of Consolation, located in Krakow at the Sportowe estate.
    Obecnie możliwości jakie dają techniki pomiarowe, pozwalają na opracowywanie zarówno miast w postaci modeli 3D, jak i modeli obiektów małej i dużej architektury. W zależności od potrzeb, skali badanego obiektu, czy przeznaczenia finalnego produktu, geodezja znajduje gotowe metody pomiarowe. Chcąc szczegółowo opracować model 3D obiektu budowlanego, najdokładniejszym sposobem okazuje się wykorzystanie technologii skaningu laserowego. Jednak są sytuacje, w których ograniczenia wynikające z układu terenowego lub konstrukcji budynku, nie pozwalają na pozyskanie pełnej informacji o jego bryle. W takich sytuacjach rozwiązaniem jest zintegrowanie danych z różnych sprzętów pomiarowych. W przypadku tworzenia pełnego modelu 3D dużych obiektów budowlanych, najlepszym wyborem do uzupełnienia danych, szczególnie dachu obiektu, jest użycie bezzałogowej platformy latającej, gdyż rozdzielczość zobrazowań wykonanych na niskim pułapie jest na tyle dobra, że pozwala otrzymać zadowalający efekt w postaci chmury punktów. W badaniach wykorzystano integrację danych pozyskanych z niskiego pułapu z dwóch bezzałogowych platform latających, Fly-Tech DJI S1000 i DJI Phantom 3 Advanced - wykorzystując różnego rodzaju misje - z danymi zarejestrowanymi naziemnym skanerem laserowym Leica ScanStation P40. Zintegrowanie danych obyło się poprzez nadanie im wspólnego układu współrzędnych - w tym przypadku układu 2000, dla pomierzonych w terenie techniką GNSS punktów osnowy oraz wykorzystanie do tego celu oprogramowania Cyclone, Metashape i Pix4D. Połączone chmury punktów wykorzystano na cele modelowania 3D obiektu sakralnego w oprogramowaniu CAD firmy Bentley. Określono dokładność, z jaką przebiegła integracja danych oraz błędy wynikające z zastosowania różnych technik pomiarowych. Efektem opracowania jest model 3D Kościoła Matki Bożej Pocieszenia, znajdującego się w Krakowie na osiedlu Sportowym.

    In recent years, 3D modelling of historic heritage properties is most often based on photogrammetric measurements. Data on such properties can be obtained, however, by a variety of entirely different methods. This publication presents an example of developing a 3D model of a historic heritage building using two photogrammetric methods. The first one was based on photographs taken with a non-metric camera, and the second one was based on data from terrestrial laser scanning. The object of the study was the Museum of the Estreicher Family in Krakow. The photos were obtained with a Canon EOS 400D DSLR camera and a cloud of points from terrestrial laser scanning with a Leica ScanStation P40 scanner. The development of the 3D model based on photographs was carried out using the Bentley ContextCapture software application, and the Agisoft PhotoScan Professional. In contrast, TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanning) data was processed in the Leica Cyclone software application and modelled in the 3DReshaper. Both methods were analysed and compared in a tabular presentation.
    W publikacji przedstawiony został przykład opracowania modelu 3D budynku zabytkowego przy wykorzystaniu dwóch metod fotogrametrycznych. Pierwsza z nich bazowała na zdjęciach wykonanych kamerą niemetryczną, a druga na danych pochodzących z naziemnego skaningu laserowego. Obiektem opracowania było Muzeum Rodu Estreicherów w Krakowie. Zdjęcia pozyskano lustrzanką cyfrową Canon EOS 400D, a chmurę punktów z naziemnego skaningu laserowego skanerem Leica ScanStation P40. Opracowanie modelu 3D na podstawie zdjęć wykonano w oprogramowaniu ContextCapture firmy Bentley oraz w programie Agisoft PhotoScan Professional. Natomiast dane TLS (ang. Terrestrial Laser Scanning) przetworzono w programie Leica Cyclon, a wymodelowano w 3DReshaper. Dokonano analizy obydwu metod oraz porównano je przedstawiając w zestawieniu tabelarycznym.
