In a semiconductor gas discharge structure with diameters much larger than an inter-electrode distance, the effects of different parameters (i.e. electrode separation, gas pressure, diameter of the GaAs photodetector, etc.) on electrical breakdown and current oscillations were studied. Non-stationary and non-homogeneous states are generated in the structure, through the spatially uniform irradiation of the semiconductor photodetector. Instabilities occur due to the nonlinear features of the semiconductor photocathode, while the gas discharge serves to visualize transport processes in GaAs. Spatiotemporal variations of current and discharge light emissions are studied with the above-mentioned control parameters. Transformation of the profile and amplitude of the current densities of the filaments in different regions of the current-voltage characteristic are widely studied. Instabilities of spatially non-uniform distributions resulting in the formation of multiple current filaments with increasing voltages above the critical values are observed. A semiconductor gas discharge structure with an N-shaped current-voltage characteristic is analyzed via both the current and discharge light emissions data which shows the electrical instability in the GaAs photodetector.

In this work, a lightweight geopolymer was prepared using various mass proportions of extra fine aluminum powder and pumice stone that is durable to heat and sound-proof. The effect of NaOH concentration, aluminum mass ratio, the curing temperature and the curing time of the mixture on the compressive strength of the lightweight geopolymers were examined. The concentration of NaOH was found to be 2 M while the mass proportion of Na₂SiO₃/NaOH was found to be 17.5 on the lightweight geopolymers that have the highest compressive strength and the best workability in experiments. The lightweight geopolymer attained the best compressive strength with 1.6 MPa on the 28th day of curing process at 40°C. The mass proportion of aluminum used in the lightweight geopolymer was 2.5% as the density of the lightweight geopolymer obtained was 0.9 g/cm³. Their properties were examined using the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy.

Opis:
Generally, wheelchair users cannot move easily within buildings since living areas in architectural structures are not suitable for them to maintain or to improve their physical capabilities. Because living area restrictions affect the physical performance of the users outside during the day, the reduced mobility causes several health problems. These problems become more intense by the time. Especially heart and lung related illnesses are common among the wheelchair users since the immobility decreases respiration capacity. The aim of this research is to design and prototype a wheelchair treadmill to help wheelchair users improve their upper extremity system. In this study, CAD was employed for the design of wheelchair treadmill. Then finite element analysis (FEA) was carried out for the parts of the wheelchair treadmill and the prototype was manufactured based on the results. The prototype was tested under the conditions the product was originally intended to function. In the experiments, the speeds of wheelchair and wheelchair treadmill were measured. The distances taken by users were also recorded, and the results were evaluated with respect to road surface conditions.
