Opis:
Activated tungsten inert gas (ATIG) welding has a good depth of penetration (DOP) as compared to the conventional tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. This paper is mainly focused on ATIG characterization and mechanical behavior of aluminum alloy (AA) 6063-T6 using SiO2 flux. The characterization of the base material (BM), fusion zone (FZ), heat affected zone (HAZ) and, partially melted zone is carried out using the suitable characterization methods. The weld quality is characterized using ultrasonic-assisted non-destructive evaluation. A-scan result confirms that the ATIG welded samples have more DOP and less bead width as compared to conventional TIG. The recorded tensile strength of ATIG with SiO2 is better than the conventional TIG welding. The failure mode is ductile for ATIG welding with larger fracture edges and is brittle in the case of conventional TIG welding.

Opis:
Nowadays there is a huge demand of High Strength Temperature Resistance (HSTR) alloys such as titanium, carbide, nimonics and ceramics in aerospace, defence and electronics. Among these alloys machining of tungsten carbide alloy is of interest, because of its numerous applications. Complex shapes of tungsten carbide are not generally made by traditional manufacturing process. To machine tungsten carbide with high accuracy, non-traditional machining process like Laser beam machining, Electron beam machining and Electrical discharge machining are a proper choice. In the present paper, the authors have machined Tungsten carbide (93% WC and 7%Co) with copper electrode. The machining is performed on EDM MODEL 500 X 300 ENC with VELVEX EDMVEL-2 as dielectric oil. The 17 experiments are carried out based on RSM (Box-Behnken) method. Further, in order to find the optimum combination grey relational approach is used. The results showed that pulse-on-time of 40µs, pulse-off-time of 2µs and current of 8A are optimum combination for machining of Tungsten carbide (93% WC and 7%Co). Lastly, the confirmation experiment has been conducted.

Opis:
In the present work, a procedure for the estimation of internal damping in a cracked rotor system is described. The internal (or rotating) damping is one of the important rotor system parameters and it contributes to the instability of the system above its critical speed. A rotor with a crack during fatigue loading has rubbing action between the two crack faces, which contributes to the internal damping. Hence, internal damping estimation also can be an indicator of the presence of a crack. A cracked rotor system with an offset disc, which incorporates the rotary and translatory of inertia and gyroscopic effect of the disc is considered. The transverse crack is modeled based on the switching crack assumption, which gives multiple harmonics excitation to the rotor system. Moreover, due to the crack asymmetry, the multiple harmonic excitations leads to the forward and backward whirls in the rotor orbit. Based on equations of motions derived in the frequency domain (full spectrum), an estimation procedure is evolved to identify the internal and external damping, the additive crack stiffness and unbalance in the rotor system. Numerically, the identification procedure is tested using noisy responses and bias errors in system parameters.

Opis:
The quality specifications for products such as wire rods produced by the steel industry are becoming ever more demanding. This demand has led to achieve uniform product quality at high production speeds. As a result, there is a need for the systems that operate in real time and continuously measure cross-section profile of the rods and detect if any change or deviation from the desired behaviour in their cross-section. To reach this goal, a laser-based computer-controlled technology provides a useful solution. In this paper, a high speed, low cost and high accuracy non-contact laser-based measuring system has been proposed and developed using a STM32 microcontroller. The system can measure the thickness of solid, non-transparent wire rods using the linear charged-coupled sensor and sent to a microcontroller unit to further analyse and continuously display the cross-sectional profile in real time. Any deviation in the dimension over the length of the wire along with its position with respect to starting of the wire can be detected in real time. The designed and developed system has capability of measurement accuracies and respectabilities to the micrometre level.

Opis:
In this research article, we present the concepts of fractional-order dynamical systems and synchronization methodologies of fractional order chaotic dynamical systems using slide mode control techniques. We have analysed the different phase portraits and time-series graphs of fractional order Rabinovich-Fabrikant systems. We have obtained that the lowest dimension of Rabinovich-Fabrikant system is 2.85 through utilization of the fractional calculus and computational simulation. Bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponents of fractional order Rabinovich-Fabrikant system to justify the chaos in the systems. Synchronization of two identical fractional-order chaotic Rabinovich-Fabrikant systems are achieved using sliding mode control methodology.
