Opis:: The paper presents the results of the texturization process of the multicrystalline silicon wafers carried out in ternary HF/HNO3/diluent solution, where the diluent was either CH3COOH or H2O, at varying HF/HNO3 volume ratio and different time of texturization process. The technique of scanning electron microscopy was used to characterize the morphology of the obtained multicrystalline silicon surfaces, with subsequent surface reflectivity measurements. The appropriate selection of mixture components lead to a significant reduction in the reflectivity of the incident solar radiation in the relatively short time of 60 seconds. The resultant electric parameters were nearly the same as those for the commercial samples but obtained after 3 minutes.
Autorzy zaprezentowali wyniki badań dotyczących procesu teksturyzacji w roztworze HF/HNO3/rozpuszczalnik stosowanego dla płytek krzemu multikrystalicznego, gdzie jako rozpuszczalnik stosowano zamiennie CH3COOH oraz H2O. W badaniach jako zmienne przyjęto objętościowy stosunek HF/HNO3 oraz czas procesu. Morfologia powierzchni uzyskana po chemicznej modyfikacji krzemu została scharakteryzowana przy użyciu skaningowej mikroskopii elektronowej, a następnie zbadano wpływ takiego ukształtowania powierzchni na odbicie promieniowania słonecznego. Autorzy wykazali, że odpowiednie dobranie składu mieszaniny trawiącej pozwala na uzyskanie najniższych wartości odbicia w stosunkowo krótkim czasie 60 sekund. Ponadto parametry elektryczne zmodyfikowanych ogniw słonecznych nie odbiegały od tych uzyskanych komercyjnie w czasie trzykrotnie dłuższym.

Opis:: In this study a two-step short wet etching was implemented for the black silicon formation. The proposed structure consists of two steps. The first step: wet acidic etched pits-like morphology with a quite new solution of lowering the texturization temperature and second step: wires structure obtained by a metal assisted etching (MAE). The temperature of the process was chosen due to surface development control and surface defects limitation during texturing process. This allowed to maintain better minority carrier lifetime compared to etching in ambient temperature. On the top of the acidic texture the wires were formed with optimized height of 350 nm. The effective reflectance of presented black silicon structure in the wavelength range of 300-1100 nm was equal to 3.65%.

Opis:: The nanoparticles of CH₃NH₃PbBr₃ hybrid perovskites were synthesized. These perovskite nanoparticles we embedded in polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) in order to obtain the composite, which we used as light converter for silicon solar cells. It was shown that the composite emit the light with the intensity maximum at about 527 nm when exited by a short wavelength (300÷450 nm) of light. The silicon solar cells were used to examine the effect of down-conversion (DC) process by perovskite nanoparticles embedded in PMMA. For experiments, two groups of monocrystalline silicon solar cells were used. The first one included the solar cells without surface texturization and antireflection coating. The second one included the commercial cells with surface texturization and antireflection coating. In every series of the cells one part of the cells were covered by composite (CH₃NH₃PbBr₃ in PMMA) layer and second part of cells by pure PMMA for comparison. It was shown that External Quantum Efficiency EQE of the photovoltaic cells covered by composite (CH₃NH₃PbBr₃ in PMMA) layer was improved in both group of the cells but unfortunately the Internal Quantum Efficiency was reduced. This reduction was caused by high absorption of the short wavelength light and reabsorption of the luminescence light. Therefore, the CH₃NH₃PbBr₃ perovskite nanoparticles embedded in PMMA matrix were unable to increase silicon solar cell efficiency in the tested systems.

Opis:: The paper presents results on whether and how the magnetic domain structure in maraging steel undergoes any change due to the aging process. It continues the works on application of correlation methods and fractal analysis into studies of magnetic properties of various steel alloys using Scanning Probe Microscopy. It is aimed at verifying the usefulness of the structure function for description of spatial changes in shape and orientation of magnetic domains, and the magnitude of magnetic stray field affected by the heat treatment. Obtained results suggest that despite vanishing magnetic tip-surface interaction, and hence vanishing magnetic stray field, magnetic domains remain nearly perfectly isotropic although randomly oriented. Similar to isotropic real surfaces, the fractal dimension of the magnetic domains turns out to be independent of the structural changes induced by the aging process, whereas the topothesy is found to vary within order of magnitude along with changes in the magnetic stray field. After all, obtained results lead to conclusion that the aging process leaves its fingerprints in the structure of the steel alloys, which can be studied using numerical analysis of images of magnetic interactions between vibrating tip and the stray field.

Opis:: Purpose: To assess how certain clinical symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affect the quality of life of women, their activity, and their sexual lives.Materials and methods: The World Health Organization quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-Bref) was used to assess the quality of life and health of 78 women diagnosed with PCOS, and the female sexual function questionnaire -28 (FSQ-28) was used to assess their sexual activity and associated disorders.Results: Among three groups of women with varying body mass indexes and aged26.93 years on average, significant differences (p<0.05) were found in quality of life. In individual domains of the WHOQOL-Bref, the median score of women with obesity was lower than that of women with normal body weight or with overweight. Women with symptoms of hirsutism showed lower quality of life than women without these symptoms, while womenwho had undergone treatment for 4–6 years experienced significantly worse quality of life than those who had undergone therapy for less than 3 or more than 6 years. In the various domains of sexual response, regression analysis showed a positive correlation (p <0 .05) between better quality of life and women’s sexual activity.Conclusions: Clinical symptoms of PCOS such as obesity and hirsutism affect women’s quality of life, as does the length of infertility treatment, whereas general quality of life affects the occurrence of disorders in women at particular stages of sexual response.

Opis:: Introduction: Breast cancer is the most prevalent female malignancy in Poland. Oncological treatment and its adverse effects diminish quality of life of breast cancer patients, which is determined by a number of somatic, psychological and social factors. Purpose: To assess the quality of life and the level of knowledge and utilization of lymphedema prevention principles among women after surgical treatment of breast cancer. Materials and methods: The study included 145 breast cancer patients after radical mastectomy. The respondents were examined with the validated EORTC QLQ-BR23 questionnaire and a custom-designed survey. Results: Examination with the QLQ-BR23 questionnaire revealed that mastectomized women scored low on the body image scale. The most frequently reported ailments were arm and breast symptoms. While the respondents showed high level of knowledge with regards to lymphedema prevention, they poorly adhered to the prophylactic guidelines. The participants were well aware of the risk factors of lymphedema, and most of them declared avoidance of their harmful effects. Conclusions: Quality of life assessment should constitute an integral component of rehabilitation in every breast cancer patient, as mastectomy exerts significant effect on the outcome of perioperative period. Apart from specialist physiotherapy, also education of patients with regards to principles of lymphedema prevention and autotherapy constitutes an important component of complex management of lymphatic insufficiency.
