    Opis:
    The historical outline o f Cracow—Częstochowa upland is followed by a description o f the types o f the castles in that region and their history which ended with the Swedish invasion o f Poland in the 17th century. The work on conservation o f the ruins o f the said castles was taken up after the conclusion o f the Second World War in 1945. However, the proceedings involved were not connected then with architectonic research. It was but the comprehensive work on preservation o f the ruins o f Ogrodzieniec Castle that has pointed to the correct direction o f conservation o f the castles in the Cracow—Częstochowa upland. The author deals with the scope o f that work approached from the viewpoint o f organization o f conservation proceedings. The ruins o f Ogrodzieniec Castle were made open to the public in 1973. It was then that the problem arose o f maintaining that historical monument in due condition. Hence, the need for its manager who would ensure to it a systematic and adequate protection.

    Opis:
    Sur le territoire des Pays-Bas se trouvent deux parcs ethnographiques dans le voisinage de la ville Arnheim et dans la région Zaanse-Schans, près de Zaandam. La Belgique n’a qu’un seul musée en plein air dans la localité Bokrijk, près de Liège. L’exposition de chacun des musées précités est marquée d’un caractère différent qui lui est particulier. Des objets relevant des XVIIIe et XIXe siècles rassemblés dans le musée d’Arnheim illustrent l’architecture des villages de différentes provinces de ce pays. Les bâtiments présentent des antérieurs caractéristiques de l’époque donnée. Dans ce musée ce qui attire tout d’abord c’est un micropaysage du cadre naturel, mais ce qui par contre porte à la critique c’est l’emplacement des bâtiments n’illustrant point les zones culturelles de la Hollande et la dispersion des objets dans le cadre de l’ensemble dont ils font partie. Le Musée de Zaanse-Sohanse diffère nettement des principes adoptés dans les autres musées en plein air. Les bâtiments en bois qui s’y trouvent sont dotés d’intérieurs modernes exploités, loués par des personnes privées. Toutes les conditions que l’on pose actuellement a un musée en plein air sont remplies par le Musée d’ Openlucht Domein à Bokrijk. Noa seulement l’on a tenu compte de l’ameublement des intérieurs caractéristiques pour ce genre de bâtiments aux XVI-e — XlX-e siècles mais encore l’ambiance et le micropaysage ont été conservés pour chaque maison, chaque enclos, pour chaque région envisagée.

    Après la guerre, les parcs qui se trouvent sur le terrain de la voïevodie de Katowice ont été mis sous la protection des autorités ministérielles de la santé, de l’éducation et de la culture, ainsi que des entreprises industrielles et touristiques. L’inventaire des parcs de cette voïevodie a démontré que la majorité de ces objectifs — dont l ’exploitation est théoriquement en règle, laisse beaucoup à désirer, en pratique, au point de vue de la'conservation. Cette situation a pour cause la limitation des fonds destinés à la conservation, le manque de compétences, l ’adaptation défectueuse de ces parcs. Pour concilier les besoins de la vie contemporaine avec les exigences des conservateurs, l ’auteur de cet article postule la réalisation d’un inventaire et d’une documentation très détaillée avant que les parcs soient mis sous la protection des usagers. Il postule également d’attirer l’attention des conservateurs uniquement sur les parcs dont la composition n’a pas encore perdu les marques du style historique; de destituer les usagers incompétents; de localiser les bâtiments de service sur les terrains avoisinant les parcs et d’augmenter les fonds disponibles pour leur conservation.

    Opis:
    Purpose: The article addressed the problem of relationships between university funding and effciency on the one hand and the quality of teaching and research on the other. Methodology: The measurement of teaching and research quality in Polish universities was derived from two sources: 1) evaluation scores of teaching quality given to universities by the Polish Accreditation Committee, and 2) the research category grades given to university departments or units by the Polish Committee for Evaluation of Scientifc Units. Subsequently, the quality measurements were correlated with fnancial indicators and effciency scores obtained from data envelopment analysis. Findings: The correlation and regression results indicated that public universities that have received higher scores of teaching quality simultaneously have higher average scientifc categories. There was also a substantial relationship between the revenue per student and the revenue per teacher and variables describing quality but the regression analysis exhibited opposite directions regarding the type of quality indicator. Practical implications: The authorities of a university can simultaneously track the improvement of quality or fnancial effciency without losing their interdependence when reforms of HEI operations are conducted. Research limitations/implications: The quality of teaching and research at universities was assessed despite the limited availability of internal information gathered from higher education institutions (HEIs). Originality: The study proposed new measurements of quality derived from external evaluation bodies and investigated the relations of these measures with selected fnancial and effciency indicators
